Colleges in New Hampshire

There are 26 colleges in New Hampshire, 13 public and 13 private, offering a wide range of programs and majors. New Hampshire has both small schools (defined as less than 2000 students) and "very large" ones (10,000 or more students) and everything in between, including community colleges, in urban and rural environments.


The University of New Hampshire is located in Durham, and, with an enrollment over 12,000, is the largest university in the state. An additional campus is located in Manchester. It is one of only nine land, sea, and space grant institutions in the country and boasts accomplished marine biology and oceanography programs thanks to its coastal proximity.


Prestigious Ivy League member Dartmouth College is located in Hanover. Established in 1769, it's the oldest university in the state, and one of nine Colonial Colleges founded before the American Revolution. Dartmouth is consistently ranked among the top universities in the country.
