If you are interested in attending St. John's University it would be a great school if you want to live in New York and want to experience life in the city. Although St. John's is located in Queens, NY, it is a 30 minute ride to the city. But you don't have to go to the city to experience New York. There are many events on campus throughout the year that allow you to feel involved within the St. John's community; and as well the community in general. Overall, if you are a prospective student looking into attending St. John's University, be prepared to be challenged. There will be classes where you will engage with teachers and others students as most class sizes are small (unless they are core classes). But that is what college is, being able to express your thoughts and opinions within a class setting. Good luck!

This is a medium size campus and each major could get a little segregated so try to branch out with the different clubs and student organizations on campus.

Really be sure you want to go here. They give good scholarships, but is that worth the stress of terrible classes?

There an evident and large commuter population. Of all my friends, I only met 3 dormers. If you are not comfortable with the commuter population, then this school will not be right for you. Additionally, becoming a commuter myself, it is pretty hard to get involved. Everything takes place at night, but at that time I'm already home, so sometimes I can be missing a lot. Additionally, from my experience thus far, this school is much more oriented on pharmacy, physician assistant, law, and accounting. Other majors sort of fade into the background.
