because their are so many students who attend penn state, the dorms are rather small. i don't have any complaints though. the bathrooms are cleaned daily, each floor has several…
I only lived in the dorms my Freshman year so I can't say much about it other than my experience in East Halls, which is currently being completely remodeled. …
Dormitories here are very conducive and you get what you pay. Very clean and conducive for studying and socializing.…
it's an experience just like on any other campus. you have resident assistance (ra) who will be there if you have questions. many students form a great friendship with their…
The food at the Commons is very good. The meal plans are affordable but its nice to have meals delivered to your dorm
Read MoreReally you just need to find the right places to eat on and off-campus. There are small little restaurants and sit-downs that are sort of hidden and less popular but have much better food than others.
Read MoreWest is by far the best dining commons, but all of them have their merits. It's ultimately your personal preference based on which places serves what!
Read MoreMany food options around campus and downtown. Campus food gets a bit pricey if you don't have a meal plan.
Read MoreThere are a lot of food options at Penn State and campus meal plans can be used in on campus restaurants like Starbucks, Chick fil a, and Panda Express. The commons' dining halls food is good but one learns too go to specific dining commons for specific types of food that match their preferences.
Read MoreI have an unpopular opinion about the dinning halls around campus because I loved them. I came into college a very picky eater so I was nervous knowing I would have to eat a prepared meal every night and have no say over it. I had no reason to worry though. There are 4 dining halls on campus and you can use your meal plan at any one of them. They mostly have the same meals each night but vary slightly. West always has tacos of some sort, and Pollock usually has some sort of Asian food. Other than those, most of the food changes every day, so you will not get bored. Also, they always have grilled chicken, vegetables, pasta, and salad so if you truly do not like anything they are serving that night you can always go with the basics. I for one nearly doubled the amount of foods I ate freshman year. I tried so many foods for the first time because it is an all you can eat buffet. Therefore, if you do not like something, you can try something else. There is always pizza, burgers, french fries and chicken tenders offered for those nights when you just need some comfort food. You can also use your meal points at any restaurant on campus, meaning the creamery and Starbucks, which definitely comes in handy.
Read MoreI have personal experience in working in one of the dining halls. All of the food is freshly made from scratch. There are cooks that are constantly working all day to make the food. None of the food is right from the freezer. The dining hall has many options like fruit, a salad bar, and a few different stations to get different meals. All dining halls also have soup and a large drink selection from orange juice to cranberry juice.
Read MoreThere are so many dining areas for students to choose from! Every residence hall, in fact, has a dining area with various food options every day. For students with food allergies, Penn State's Food Services are very helpful with students dine safely. Also, there are many healthier choices for students as well. If you're a student, you also get a discount if you have a meal plan on campus!
Read MoreYou have a ton of options when looking at dining halls. North: Breakfast and Lunch are great-- totally underrated South: Buffet is the best for late night (8:30-10ish) West: all meals are amazing, cookies can't be beaten West Wing: good for a quick fix East: buffet is okay, sushi is great, Good 2 Go is clutch Pollock: best buffet dinner if West meal doesn't look good The HUB: plenty of places for grab and go food and you can use your meal points (eg. Chik fil A, Panda Express, etc.)
Read MoreI have not applied but that are several on campus
Read MoreAvoid it at all costs.
Read MorePenn State has a large greek community and there are many fraternities and sororities you can join. Many people find this to be a great place to meet people just like them and find life long friends from these organizations. I am not a part of greek life, but a lot of my friends are and they all love it. You are directly involved with THON through greek life and also do many other outreach programs benefitting the community.
Read MoreThe Greek life at Penn State is on a decline due to many frats becoming suspended. I would recommend joining a sorority because they follow the rules and standards that they are supposed to.
Read MoreGreek Life at Penn State, sometimes, can be typical. Most fraternities are not on campus and usually they give back and develop charities for good causes. There are many fraternities and sororities to join at Penn State.
Read Morei am debating on joining a business frat next semester due to my workload, but if theres one thing i recommend it is to get involved in greek life. this is where you will meet your friends for life and the social scene is incredible. greek life isn't how it is panned out to be in the movies or media. the psu frats are very fun to go to for parties and they are also very safe. the ifc (frat police) monitor the area nightly, not to bust kids for drinking, but to make sure nothing bad happens when kids leave the frats. the sororities dont have their own houses but many of my closest friends are in sororities and they're having the times of their lives. greek life is something to consider when coming to psu, if you are somewhat interested i say go for it, you dont want to regret anything in your college career.
Read MoreIT IS HAPPENIN'!
Read MorePenn state does have greek life, and it seemed like a large one, although on the campus tour it wasn't much talked about.
Read MoreBest decision I made besides attending Penn State. Gets me involved in campus life, let me meet more people than I ever would alone.
Read Morefrats are easy to get in because there are so many. sororities are more competitive. going to frat parties every weekend is more of a freshman thing to do unless you're actually in greek life. as students get older, they start going to more apartment parties where they are surrounded by their group of friends and club members.
