Speech and Rhetorical Studies
Do you love learning more about how people communicate? Majoring in speech and rhetorical studies may be the degree you're looking for.
Speech and rhetorical studies majors will take classes in the history of discourse, the structure of public speech, oral interpretation of literature, interpersonal interactions and the physiology of human speech. In short, you'll learn a lot of the mechanics and theories behind how people talk.
After college, you'll have gained many communication skills that will be useful in the workplace. You may be able to find work as a journalist or radio or television host. Some speech and rhetorical studies majors also go on to become speechwriters or speech coaches. Others continue their education to become speech instructors for high school or college students.
