CollegesCollege Majors › Nursing Science

The health care field is thriving and nurses are in demand. If you're good at science and interested in helping people, a nursing science major could be the right choice for you.

Although each nursing science program is different, your curriculum will be a blend of classroom instruction, lab exercises, and clinical practice. In addition to the standard nursing subjects such as biostatics and anatomy and physiology, you'll also be trained in body mechanics, patient safety, hazard communications, fire safety, blood-borne pathogens, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

In your clinical practice, you'll be able to practice skills learned in the classroom in the real world. You'll work with different patients and health care professionals to learn the ins and outs of the profession and ensure you're ready to take on a role as a nurse after graduation.

Once you complete your training, you'll be eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN or NCLEX-RN licensing examination for your degree.
