You'll study general education theory, educational psychology, teaching strategies, classroom management techniques, and child psychology. While the majority of your classes will take place in a traditional setting, you may also spend time in a classroom observing students and teachers. Most programs conclude with a student teaching practicum senior year, in which you'll function as a teacher for several months while being supervised by a licensed professional.

Students who graduate with an education degree usually work in the field of teaching. However, career opportunities are available in several other areas, such as training, professional development, or social work. If you're looking for an additional challenge, you can go to graduate school to increase your knowledge or potentially advance to become a principal of district administrator.
