About the Anthropology Major

Anthropology is the exploration of the human experience, drawing upon the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences to answer questions about various cultures. Anthropology majors develop an understanding of cultures around the world by taking courses where exploring cultural, biological, and linguistic differences and similarities. Special topics include medical anthropology, forensic anthropology, global health, and archaeology, among many others. 

An anthropology degree can lead to a variety of career paths, as a multicultural understanding is central to almost every field. A multitude of career opportunities are available in health care, education, business, journalism, museum work, forensics, and international relations. Students are also prepared to pursue an advanced degree in the social sciences, medicine, or law.
