CollegesCollege Majors › Animal Sciences, General

As an animal sciences major, you will have the opportunity to not only learn the process of how food makes it from field to table, but to also learn how to make that process healthier and more efficient.

When you embark on an animal sciences degree, you'll learn more about how our food chain relies on animals. Courses will include topics like dairy science, poultry science, livestock production, and aquaculture. Thanks to the varying nature of these subjects, classes often give you the chance to get hands-on experience in the field, on a farm, or in the lab, in addition to in a classroom.

A variety of career opportunities exist animal sciences majors. Many graduates work as ranchers or farmers, dairy technologists, agricultural and food scientists, swine or poultry farmers, or aquaculturists. Others may decide to advance their education and go to veterinary school to become a veterinarian.
