Mission Statement

Xavier University of Louisiana is a Catholic and historically Black institution. The ultimate purpose of the University is the promotion of a more just and humane society. To this end, Xavier prepares its students to assume roles of leadership and service in society. This preparation takes place in a pluralistic teaching and learning environment that incorporates all relevant educational means, including research and community service. So that they will be able to assume roles of leadership and service, Xavier graduates will be:prepared for continual spiritual, moral, and intellectual development;liberally educated in the knowledge and skills required for leadership and service; and educated in a major field so that they are prepared to complete graduate or professional school and to succeed in a career and in life.

  • I am researching this school and have visited the campus

I think that Xavier is really not in the best part of New Orleans, and I wouldn't like living there. There is a big commuter population at Xavier and the ages of incoming students ranges greatly. All told it is not for me because these factors make the school less of a community.

Love being at Xavier, it a family oriented atmosphere. Small university, it is a HBCU so you know we do know how to have fun. But with that said they have a lot of clubs and organizations you can get involved to.

I absoutely love it here. The weather is very pleasant all school year. I've meet some of the most amazing and open people I could ever imagine meeting. Most of the teachers are really nice but of course there are always a few exceptions. I find plenty to do from on campus yard events to parties. It is very easy to get around the city also.
