Upstate has a lot of different programs. Most of the time the programs do not mix but if you are in the PA program or MD programs, you will share some classes. Most students are very outgoing and many participate in intramural sports. It's a very active group with lots of graduate students running in marathons and 5Ks. The area is not in the best city but if you travel with other people you should not have a problem.
