Go to class and read your textbooks- you've paid for both of them, so make sure you're getting your money's worth. If you have questions, go to office hours. The professor will take the time to explain and can even recap it in class if they realize that they didn't explain it thoroughly.

Get involved with your dorm! You are required to live on campus without a car for your freshman year so you should definitely hang out in the common spaces to study so that you can meet new friends. Also, your professors will know you because it is such a small student body so don't feel weird about stopping by their office hours or waving to them if you pass them on campus. It's Portland, if you feel like you're doing something weird you're probably fitting right in!
