    If you're not looking to attend a liberal school--both in terms of education and politics--then this probably isn't the place for you. If you're an art or theater major, though, or just a free spirit, then UM is perfect for you. Also, if you don't want to attend school in a small town, you'd better look elsewhere.

    Don't be afraid to introduce yourself to people! Everyone here is super friendly, so you'll make plenty of friends if you're willing to put yourself out there. Also, get involved on campus. It'll make your college experience much more worthwhile.

    Don't be afraid to reach out! Living on your own, without any familiar faces to guide you, can be intimidating; so, if you're having trouble adjusting, talk to your RA or make an appointment with the counseling services.
