The faculty at the University of Iowa is very qualified and interacts well with their students to provide them with a great educational experience. In a school the size of Iowa, both discussion sections and lectures are the predominant forms of learning. With discussion sections being smaller, the more intimate setting makes for lively conversation and more individual attention. Lectures, on the other hand, are very large, with sometimes over 500 students in attendance. However, I have found it comforting to know that despite the class size, the professors are readily available via office hours, email, or directly after...

The University of Iowa is a great school for just about any major under the sun. The faculty are very passionate, welcoming, and accepting and really care about their students. The campus and surrounding city are very homey, with a big city feel in a small city.

*Large, beautiful campus- see it if you can; take note of the changes through the seasons. **Great place to learn and grow; but make wise choices- you can either sink or you can swim. ***Has a variety of campus jobs and lots of help for careers and majors; but, always be proactive and, at least, somewhat knowledgeable and directed about your own goals and future before you see anyone else. Stay on top of your major requirements for yourself.

Great location and professors who will always be happy to help. Make sure to get involved with a club of your choosing in order to stay busy during free time, otherwise it can get boring. Big part of campus culture is simply just being “Iowa nice” to one another, so don’t disrupt the rule.

The University of Iowa is my second home. Most people have a hard time transitioning into college, but here at the University of Iowa you are able to find yourself. There are multiple ways you can get involved on campus to make yourself feel more comfortable and a little less homesick.

  • I am accepted here and planning to attend soon

The University of Iowa Orientation was so helpful and encouraging to me and hundreds of other incoming students. All the faculty members were kind and open to conversation and inquiries, and the student leaders were friendly and knowledgeable. Since attending Orientation, I've realized there are so many awesome activities to get involved in, and it's so hard just to pick a few!
