Read MoreThere's not much on campus besides clubs and a recreation center. The Rec Center has a pretty nice pool and a rock-climbing wall, and you can rent out camping gear or pay to use tools/space in a bike repair shop. There's a nice shopping center just down Austin Bluffs from the University, and tons of hiking/open space parks around town. It's probably about a 45 minute drive from campus, but Manitou Springs is a tiny mountain town that has a penny arcade, lots of kitschy tourist shops, a castle and a church, as well as multiple mineral springs the town is named after. A little closer to home is Garden of the Gods, famous for its towering vertical red sandstone formations. Entry to either place is free, and you can do plenty of stuff in Manitou on the cheap. As far as shopping malls go, the Citadel mall is sketchy. The Chapel Hills mall is nicer and closer to campus, but doesn't have a lot of selection and there's always a rumor that it's going out of business due to poor financial decisions, so we're not sure how much longer it'll exist. We have tons of movie theaters, so don't worry about keeping up to date on cinema culture. There's tons of night life downtown. One of the biggest pastimes in this town if you're not pretty outdoorsy is drinking, honestly. The Metro bus system should go to most of the places on this list, and they have a stop right in the middle of campus as well. It never hurts to make local friends or out-of-towners who brought their cars though! You'll get pretty bored if you never leave campus.
Read MoreAs far as the night life goes, there is not much to do unless you are 21 and can get into the local bars. The day life makes up for that though. There are so many cool things to do in Colorado Springs during the day it is crazy! For starters Garden of the Gods is literally right across the street so you can go there any time. There are mountains and different hiking trails that you can go on after class or during the weekends. Colorado Springs not only has the mountains and a lot of outdoor activities, but it has a few malls and a lot of movie theaters if you are more of a city person.

Read MoreProbably nothing. You could drive 20 minutes off campus to Greek life houses (Greek housing is not permitted on campus, which may or may not be a good thing). There might be a dance attended only by freshman (every other dance probably has less than 10 people attending). Some of the sporting events (basketball) are worth going to.

Music concerts either by the school bands or from an outside band occur either weekly or monthly. There's a game lounge where people hang out and play either pool or video games. And much more...
