Mission Statement

Chartered in 1890, the University of Chicago's approximately 6,500 undergraduates comprise a community of exceptional student scholars who are eager to explore, take risks, challenge themselves intellectually, and determine the direction and focus of their own education. Students choose UChicago for its rigorous liberal arts curriculum, small Socratic-style seminars and 5:1 student-faculty ratio. Students also prepare for challenging careers and competitive graduate schools through professional and recreational opportunities on campus and in Chicago.

The social life and extracurricular activities can be whatever you make of them. Coursework can be slightly overwhelming during mid-terms and close to finals, but if you stay on top of your work and stay organized, there shouldn't be any problem. With this attitude, students have plenty of opportunities to get into the city, experience campus culture, and have fun! I myself love the extracurriculars offered on campus and take every advantage to go downtown. Attending comedy shows, Model UN, and my religious group are a few of the opportunities I take advantage of myself.

Scratch that - of the Chicagoland area. Scratch that - of the collegiate world.
