  • I am researching this school and have visited the campus

Book a general campus tour, walk around, visit a campus bookstore, and eat somewhere on or near campus. If you have extra time, Austin has plenty of decent museums and outdoor activities to take advantage of.

UT is a huge sports school and so I would encourage you to get the Big Ticket and get yourself to some games when you can! Nothing beats singing Eyes of Texas after a win. The UT campus is boasting with things to do from multiple gym complexes that offer swimming and exercise classes, to the Union bowling alley/ arcade and Union movie theater that shows movies for cheap weekly. The dorms also put on events for their residents. Austin ALWAYS has something going on. From swimming/ paddle boarding or hiking/ biking/ kayaking your way through Lady Bird Lake, Barton Springs, and Zilker the outdoors are calling you. While the downtown and city life are just a few blocks away. There’s always concerts going on and you’re always finding new things to do in Austin. Overall, it’s hard to find yourself bored.

Austin is such a lively city! There are so many things I have yet to do! For fun my friends and I will ride those red bikes (they are free for UT students) around the city, go check out the capitol, visit graffiti park, go to South Congress (SoCo), and go to 6th street (which is not all it's hyped up to be, but still fun & that's where voodoo doughnuts is, a must!!). Also if you want to go to the movies you should go to the Bullock Museum theatre at least once! This theatre is literally across the street from UT (within a 5 min walk from my dorm) and it was amazing. It has the largest screen in the state (go big or go home) and presents the films in IMAX and 3-D. Such a great experience, but you have to get there super early!! The line gets long.

UT Austin is such a great school in the sense of balancing fun outside campus and academics. The outdoor activities in Austin are very fun, such as paddle-boarding on Lake Travis or visiting the graffiti park. The unique and delicious food trucks are also a huge draw.

Austin is a vibrant city with much to do. Whether you like boating, eating, or partying, the great city has it all. I’ve personally enjoyed kayaking and floating on the Brazos River. In addition, I’m a big foodie so searching for new cuisine is always exciting. Lastly, for all my party-goers, 6th street is a fun and wild time. There are lots of establishments with personalities that range from calm to lively. If you’re looking to receive a great education while having the time of your life, then UT is a good choice.

Austin is a great city to spend outdoors and to explore new places! Can find places to go kayaking and at some places it free for ut students. UT always has events to attend. They sometimes bring animals for student to hang out with; such as guinea pigs, camels, calves, kangaroos, hedgehogs, rabbits, chicks. Have live music sometimes.
