    get involved with as much as you can!!! New Paltz is one of the only SUNYs that offers a first year internship program on campus, which looks really good on resumes as well as to help decide your major. Become friendly with the Career Resource Center to be updated on internships/career opportunities. Take advantage of any and all opportunities that you find, because you never know what you can use for networking in the future!
