    Join a club/organization, because it makes you feel involved and is a great way to meet new people. Also, be wary of having TOO much fun. Grades are just as important.

    It's very important to talk to your professors and advisors. This is hard to do, especially at the beginning of the semester, but it puts you at an advantage. Work hard to ensure that your gpa is as high as you require it to be, and absolutely get involved in clubs and other activities which will not only look great on your resume, but will ensure that you are connected to like-minded people.
