Around Town

There is a lot of basketball courts on campus, as well as the beautiful scenery. There is a lake near west campus with a trail that one can walk down. There are also hiking trails near giant city, which is about 20-30 mins away!

There is so much. On campus, there are 100s of Registered Student Organizations, and events at least once a week. Sports games take place year round, and often alumni and people in town will turn up for the fun. Greek life is insane, and even those who choose not to rush still manage to party.

The social life at SIU is amazing. There is almost something to do every week from attending different events, to sports game, or even enjoying the night life scene. SIU has always been known to have a great social life and I agree that it is a very fun town.

i play pool most of the time, work, be with my girlfriend, chill with my friends, and most people go out almost every weekend.

There is so much to do on campus I feel like the more you are involved the better. The school has stuff planned out from August through December which doesn't make it boring at all.

There are so many options for people to let off some steam and have some fun. There are always events going on and off campus. There are several different hiking trails and parks within the area and there is always movies playing at the theater in the mall. For those who are 21 and over, there are several bars located on the Strip.

SIUC is in a small town so coming from a big city it is hard to find much fun. However, there are always locally ran events on campus and around campus for literally every little thing you can think of. Every week there are different events happening and you can easily find something fun to do around town or in town. If you love the nature and wilderness then this college is definitely for you because there are so many different parks and wild life habitats to venture off into during any time of the day and year. Also, SIUC has so many RSOs (Registered Student Organizations) that go out and have fun on the weekends and hang out, so it is almost impossible to not have fun.

There is a bowling alley and laser tag room at the student center, with bi-weekly movies playing there as well. There is disc-golf equipment set up on Thompson point and parties go on almost every weekend.

There is a mall in Carbondale, as well as a beach and fishing/canoeing capabilities on campus.
