-Check into financial aid opportunities! Shawnee is already fairly inexpensive, and has lots of scholarship opportunities available, especially based on grades/ACT. -Visit campus. The whole small school vibe isn't for everybody, but I definitely prefer it. You'll have smaller classes, and you'll be able to communicate/get to know your professors better. -Look into the programs available before deciding. As an undecided student, Shawnee is a great place to - at the very least - get your basic, general education core courses out of the way. However, since the school is so small/new, you may be limited on what majors are available to you.

The professors and your friends are what's going to keep student attending SSU; in other departments like the office of financial aid, the employees don't know enough about financial aid to be working there. To make things worse, they aren't willing to help students and are quick to get an attitude. The same goes for the majority employees at the cafeteria. So if you want your time at SSU to be as painless as possible, avoid the office of financial aid and the cafeteria as much as you can.
