SAIC has the school-owned art museum which is a very nice one in the country, that students here can enter with their ID for free all the time.

Participate in campus events, such as art shows, film screenings, and artist talks. Also, joining clubs can help build connections and help you integrate into the school. Sometimes, living in the dorms can create a "box" and limit you to the area. Try to explore the city more.

  • I am accepted here and planning to attend soon

Lots of stuff to do around the city. At Millennium Park and Maggie Daley Park, which are directly adjacent, there is ice skating in the winter, public art, concerts, playgrounds and beautiful gardens. SAIC has several student galleries, and you can always go to the actual Art Institute, which is free for students.
