Categories Comments Bang for the buck You get want you pay for, but in a good way for once .
What to do for fun Walking around campus and meeting people bis always fun. Plus, sometimes an event is in full swing.
Food and Dining The campuses are conveniently placed near plazas and fast food restaurants, so if you don't want what the college has, you have a wide array of options.
Academic Rigor Depending on the professor, hard classes can be easy and easy classes can be made hard.
Tips for prospective students Keep in mind that sine the Lox campus is still fairly new and small, mainly science classes aren't available there yet.
In three sentences PBSC is really good ,and since they have the loxahatchee campus now, commute is a breeze. Tuition is great. And meeting new people is a breeze.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students To whoever wishes to enroll at this college here's a few tips: Dont take more classes then you can handle. I know everyone wants to finish early and but not a lot a student have the discipline to stay focus with four or five classes, if you can props to you! You want to buy your books a head of time, meaning 3 weeks in advance it will save you a lot of time and trouble trying to find it last minute when assignments are being given. Also trying buying them online rather then the college bookstore, it can be significantly cheaper. Lastly , dont over study for tests , take breaks every 2 hours, eat someting, take a bathroom break. Speaking from experience ,it does not overprepare you but it can infact make you forget things very important.

Categories Comments Academic Rigor One thing, I always check ratemyprofessors.com before completing my registration. It helps you get to know the professor ahead and what you're getting yourself into.
In three sentences I enjoyed being a student at palm beach state college. Different backgrounds, different cultures, such a diversity that makes you feel at home. I went to 2 campuses. My favorite was the Boca Raton campus - not a lot of students which makes it easier to learn. Different clubs and social organizations which help you create another family outside of your bloodline.
Tips for prospective students One thing I can say is attend orientation, a few events especially those where the different clubs are out there talking about their group, inviting and/or recruiting. Also get used to the school website. I did it for fun, and it helped me a lot in the future - that was a plus. Check with advising, financial aid a lot, they help a lot. Make use of the library. Always keep track of dates especially for registration. The earlier you start registering, the better it is - you get more options.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Palm Beach State College is a small campus and that makes it way easier and better to interact with all the students around campus, it makes every student feel welcome and makes them have meaning and a purpose there to prosper and do the best that they can with the motivation being received from all these staffs and students that are around the campuses. There’s diversity and that’s why it’s good for every type of student.

Categories Comments In three sentences Palm Beach State College is wonderful school that has a great campus and and an environment that is very welcoming. My professors are intelligent and their passion for teaching the subject shows every class. Palm Beach State is a well-rounded college and if you ever need help, there will always be a helping hand.
Campus Safety Whenever I come to school, i feel protected. There is security floating around on golf carts throughout the day and the professors are well aware of what to do in a dangerous situation like locking the classroom door inside and out. Drills are performed when needed and it makes me feel safe and secure.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Security is very good at what they do, but you cant always keep crime out of school. The school does have a lot of theft in their parking lots. But for the most part the campus itself is safe.
Greek Life Not big on Greek life. PBSC specializes in only a couple business fraternities.
Clubs and Activities There is a good veriaty of clubs from LBGTQ to the Biology club. There is somehting for everyone.
Great for these types of students Students who are looking for a smaller class and campus setting.
Bang for the buck Something I believe all students should take advantage of while spending their time on campus is the use of the Health and Wellness centers. They have state of the art gym equipment to keep you healthy along with counselors looking to improve your day to day health and well being. It is free with your tuition to all students of the school as long as your a current student. They have summer hours for summer students and daily fitness activities in case you don't want to workout by yourself. Some of the daily activities include: yoga, kickboxing, running in the morning and so much more.
What to do for fun The college, especially Palm Beach Gardens campus, has a lot of extra curricular activities. They have clubs to join, sports, and even outside school events such as 5K race/walks.
Food and Dining The colleges partnered up with Dunkin Donuts to provide hot food and drinks daily. Along side Dunkin, some of the campus' also provide their own food such as sandwich's, salads, and pizza.
Dorm Life Does not have on campus dorms. But has plenty of of-campus apartments in the area.
Academic Rigor Being a state college, it has to follow strict guidelines to keep students safe. They are strict about parking to make sure no one that shouldn't be there is there. Attendance is very important to the college because it ensures all students are held accountable for there work and that if anything happens to the student the school is not held liable.
Tips for prospective students Always check Ratemyprofessor.com to see which teachers match your learning style. Not all teachers are bad, but if you get a teacher that does more quiz based learning and you aren't a strong test taker, then that teacher may not be best for you. Wait until the first day of class before buying your textbook. Although most teachers require a textbook, a lot of them let you know on the first day whether you are only going to need it to study, for homework, or not at all. Get to school early. Parking is a problem no matter which campus you attend. Being late too many times can get you kicked out of class. So make sure your on time and get there early.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students This is a very low stress school. I worked 20-38 hours a week and managed to maintain good grades without a backbreaking amount of effort. But don't get me wrong, you can't slack and do well. Professors are good and accommodating to certain circumstances as long as you communicate beforehand. Good cost saver. But beware of hanging around people who slack and stay there too long or else you'll get sucked into that mindset.

Categories Comments Campus Safety i never had any problems, but in my two years of being here, i recall getting two or three emails about a car getting broken into on campus. the good thing is administration took the measure of alerting the students.
Greek Life there is no greek life.
Clubs and Activities i never joined any clubs because of the distance from my house to the school, so it was hard to do any extracurricular activities and go to work as well. but i always heard good things about phi theta kappa.
Great for these types of students this is a great school for anyone working on getting their associate's degree, whether they've already decided what career they want to pursue or not. there is a lot of diversity at this school, ethnicity-wise and personality-wise, so there's a place for everybody.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there is nothing unusual (that i'm aware of).
Bang for the buck this is a great school overall, and i'm glad i came here. tuition is very reasonable and worth it. i attended the boca raton campus, so i can only speak for that one. the only con about the campus is that it's reeeally small and i would usually get really bored in between classes because there's no cool places to visit, nor are there any good, peaceful places to just sit back and relax. even the computer lab gets crowded and noisy at primetime. so if you have a large time-gap between your classes, you'd might as well go somewhere else.
What to do for fun attend club rush every semester. they usually have games and most clubs hand out free stuff :). free fitness classes are also offered weekly, as well as activities by different clubs.
Food and Dining there's one small cafeteria right next to the admissions office. i didn't buy things too often and i didn't try many of the options because they were a bit pricey for the portion offered, but what i did always enjoy what i bought. specially the cookies!!!
Dorm Life there are no dorms on campus.
Academic Rigor most classes were a breeze for me. the only challenge was the usual suspect: science. but aside from that, most teachers were very nice and some of them are very understanding. what i appreciate the most is the education i got out of my art classes (my major is graphic design). they are super-time consuming classes but i got the practice i had never gotten before and it was a great artistic foundation for me. the art professors i signed up for, which are boyers and urbanek are both very nice and i learned a lot with them.
Tips for prospective students make sure you visit an advisor regularly, sort of like going to the doctor for a check-up, even when you think everything is okay. i made the mistake of picking most of my classes without consulting with an advisor, and i ended up taking some classes that i didn't need for my degree so that was just a waste of my time. also, make sure you join phi theta kappa the first chance you get. i never joined (another huge mistake), but i heard they offered a lot of scholarships and awesome traveling opportunities. lastly, make ratemyprofessor.com your best friend when picking classes. it can be a little tricky and annoying because all the reviews are opinion-based and most people's opinions differ, but it at least points you in the right direction.

Categories Comments In three sentences I am a mother of three that dropped out of school when I was 16. At the age of 25 got my GED, and finally have time in my busy life to do what I should of done a long time ago and go back to college. I did not know anything about college how to apply basically went off the internet and applied to PBSC. Since the first day everyone was so rude and unhelpful. I applied for FAFSA myself, did not receive any confirmation after the application. Went to the school several times because calling is worthless you WILL NOT get thru. About two weeks before payment was due I read online that my tax transcript had to be from the IRS. I ordered it and it did not come in time. I ended up have to call a COMPLETE different school and they had to explain everything. Matter of fact he told me I could go straight to the IRS office and pick up the paper I needed, which I did. I went straight to the school for them to tell me my classes will be dropped they cannot do anything, they made it clear that everything was my fault, basically made me feel poor saying we all know it can't be paid out of pocket so let's just forget about asking for help. Like ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?! How can you put people down like that. Not once did anybody sit down to speak or explain anything to me. I'm officially registered with Lincoln College and am very happy I am not with PBSC. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL.

Bang for the buck Definitely a bang for your buck.
What to do for fun There is not much to do for fun other than leaving and having fun outside of the college.

Dorm Life There is no dorm life.
Academic Rigor It all depends on the professors that you choose, so choose wisely. You either want to actually learn the material or you want to skate on by.
Tips for prospective students Do your research on rate my professor to find great professors. Instead of looking for the easiest professor, look for the best professor where you will actually learn from. Take advantage of the free resources that are provided to you. There is no reason for anyone to fail, because about every course that is provided there is a tutor or study groups for them. Study hard and do your best.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities There are a decent amount of clubs at PBSC. This semester I have become more involved in the clubs because of my professors and classmates. There are clubs for students who are interested in protecting the environment, supporting the LGBT community, clubs for minorities, and honors societies and an honors college.
Great for these types of students Dual-enrolled students Students who are unsure of what they want to major in Students who want to save money Non-traditional students
Bang for the buck It's pretty cheap and it's a great place to get your associate's degree. If you have a good GPA, there are scholarships that are available. Because of PBSC and scholarships from FL, my I won't have to pay for my classes or my books!
Food and Dining The cafes and places to eat on campus are ok for a quick snack or quick, cheap meal, but they're not amazing. Then again, you can't expect an extraordinary meal from a small state college!
Dorm Life I'm only putting a one star because PBSC is a commuter college and does not have dorms available for students.
Academic Rigor PBSC is not that difficult, and it can feel like thirteenth grade at some times. However, the professors are usually great and you can still learn a lot from them.
Tips for prospective students Definitely check RateMyProfessor.com for tips on the best teachers and if you really need your textbook. Never get books from the bookstore if you can help it. Usually you can purchase or rent the same textbooks for much cheaper from another store (like ThriftBooks). If you have the GPA and are interested in being more challenged, take a look at PBSC's Dr. Floyd F. Koch Honors College. The classes, professors, and other honors students are great! I've loved being a part of the honors college and it's not that hard to get into.
In three sentences Although PBSC is cheap and easy to get into, it's a great college to get your AA at. If you're a high school student or a first time college student, it's a great place to get your first taste of college life and hopefully it makes the transition from high school to college a little easier. I would recommend PBSC for any student who is looking to save money or is unsure of what they would like to major in.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students I feel this school is great for students looking to get their associates and transfer, and older students who are just reentering to finish getting a degree or are starting college for the first time.
What to do for fun The college offers various clubs, intramural sports, and student activity lounges. There are also the occasional festival that takes place at the campus.
Food and Dining I do not really have a comment about the food and dining.
Dorm Life I am currently living at home, so I don't know much about dorm life at Palm Beach State.
Academic Rigor Many of the classes are fairly easy in my opinion. Most of the classes are aimed to be introductory classes for higher level courses. Of course there is some higher level classes and classes that might be more difficult to others, but I have not encountered one quite yet.
Tips for prospective students There are many facilities available for students, and you should definitely use them. I feel many students do not realize that when they are paying for college they get a lot more out of it besides just the class. There are student centers, advising, a student learning center, and more that I think not enough people take advantage of. Also, don't be afraid to look more into the extra curricular activities the different campuses provide.
In three sentences Palm Beach State College is a good place to attend if you're looking to transfer, go back to school, or work towards an associates degree. The college offers many facilities for students, and has a decent amount of student activities. Most classes are pretty small, which allows you to have a closer relation with your professor and class mates which is really nice.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck The relatively low price (compared to other schools) really doesn't reflect how great some of the professors are. I have learned so much from my classes here.
What to do for fun There are always events happening in the courtyards around campus.
Food and Dining There is a cafeteria on campus that has a Dunkin Donuts. Perfect for coffee breaks in between classes.
Dorm Life No Dorms
Academic Rigor Depending on what kind, and what level of classes you take some of your coursework and work loads could be the same as a student attending a big four year institution. The smaller class sizes allow professors to get to know their students therefore holding them accountable when assignments don't get done.
Tips for prospective students Arrive to class on time, take notes, study and do your homework. People take this school for granted thinking it is just a State College but they don't realize how difficult some of the classes may be. Stay focused and you will succeed.
In three sentences Palm Beach State College is an excellent school for everyone from first-time college students to those looking to pursue an education later in life. There are plenty of resources for students including but not limited to the library, math labs, reading labs, student instructor sessions, and tutoring sessions. Professors and other staff members are also typically very eager to assist students with any thing they may need help with.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Some locations near campus are the writing labs, and the math labs! They make writing a paper, or solving a math problem easier. The staff is very patient and kind in all of the labs, and are always wanting to help any questions.
Bang for the buck The libraries are great! They have 3 levels (floors), and each has its own unique quality. One will have more books to check out, and the others will have a studying and computer center for upcoming exams, or for times to relax. Such as having a lounge near the research area to have some quiet time before a next class.
What to do for fun At Palm Beach State there are sometimes gatherings at the courtyard! There is music, and at times there will be job fairs! College Fairs are always there, and they are very helpful when finding out about majors, and other college opportunities.
Food and Dining The food at Palm Beach State is pretty good! There are different sets of selections. Sweets, lunches such as wraps, Dunkin Donuts, health bars, and they have the breakfasts selection; French Toast, eggs, bacon. The food selections at the cafe all depend on what someone is in the mood to eat! They have an awesome coffee selection too!
Academic Rigor The academic discipline at Palm Beach State is good! Its not too much, or too little. People feel very comfortable there, and they learn more easily because they are not as stressed. The Professors there are very nice, and listen to what the student needs in order to succeed. If you work hard, and take your time the professors in return help you reach your highest potential.
Tips for prospective students Tips for prospective students are to always ask questions! Never be afraid to ask anything, the staff at Palm Beach State are always willing to help. There are so many people there to help you study for any subject you need! And always go to the labs! The math and writing labs make a huge difference with grades!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Gets the job done. They offer a secure ride through the parking lot for students that can't walk that far or are uncomfortable walking alone at night.
Clubs and Activities If you don't seriously look and ask around for any clubs, you will be hard pressed to know if there are any.
Great for these types of students Very good for older and returning students that need an easier step into the college world. Also good for students that struggled back in high school as it offers plenty of academic majors but also certifications for a plethora of many useful trades in today's society.
Bang for the buck You can save money by going here but you won't be challenged as well. You'll just be getting by. Once University hits, you will feel thoroughly unprepared if you get too comfortable with PBSC.
What to do for fun There is a student lounge that you will most likely never use. It's very small given the amount of students attending the school, tucked away in a corner, and is usually filled with loud students.
Food and Dining Cafeteria is average and there is a Dunkin Donuts on campus that will get old very quickly.
Dorm Life There are no dorms. This is a community college.
Academic Rigor This school will do what it takes to get you by. I would recommend honors courses.
Tips for prospective students Go into PBSC with a plan for yourself and do not expect much for yourself. It's not an awful school by any means but does not challenge you nor inspire much growth.
In three sentences Palm Beach State College, located in Lake Worth, FL, is a fairly decent school. I use the word decent to describe it because that is exactly what you get: nothing spectacular or inspiring but also not terrible. This school does not encourage community or have high academic rigor.

On the other side of campus, there's a pizza place. They're all within walking distance if you don't have a car, so it's not so bad.

Food and Dining The food is ok but very over priced. I suggest you eat off campus or bring your own food.
Dorm Life We don't have dorms.
Academic Rigor Classes can be hard but it really just depends on the teacher you have.
Tips for prospective students Prepare early and get everything together way before you start because there is always something that goes on and might hold you back on starting the way you wanted to.
In three sentences This school is pretty much what you expect it to be for a State College. They have campus clubs that you can join, so they can seem like a university. The classes are a little bit harder then high school classes but as hard as you would expect it to be.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel absolutely safe on campus. Whenever there is even the slightest concern for safety, the school will text you, call you, and/ or email you. Once there was a concern about a shooter at another school that was close to the Boca campus and yet students in the Palm Beach Gardens campus were recieving warnings on their phones. Palm Beach State really goes above and beyond in safety. I would give them 6 stars if I could.
Greek Life There is no greek life.
Clubs and Activities There are more clubs and activities then I can even recall. If you have a passion for something, there is likely a club for it. And even if there is not, there are school staff members who are ready and willing to help you get one together.
Great for these types of students Palm Beach State College is great for all students. However, its especially great for students who may not have the financial means to go to a full time university or students who are juggling college, family life, work, etc.
Bang for the buck I managed to pay for school with the money I was making from working a fulltime job. And I feel like I have definetly learned a lot, got a qualtiy education, and am changed in a positive way from the whole experience.
What to do for fun You'd be surprised how much there is to do just on campus. There is a theatre across from campus that will often email out free tickets for shows or concerts and the ones that aren't free usually run for about $10. We also have an art gallery on campus and the exhibits change about every month. There is also a medicanal garden, pavilion, and pond with a small waterfall for those who enjoy spending time outside in nature as well as a lot of benches to relax on. There are sports organization that you can join as well. Also, a whole variety of clubs. There is a student lounge which also offers things like movies, billiards, ping pong, etc. We also have a wellness center which includes a gym, and aerobic room. The school is also located right across from the mall, so shopping is an option as well.
Food and Dining Food and dining is average. We have a school cafe and there is also a Dunkin donuts available, as well as vending machines, and a book store that has snack foods. Often the school clubs and organizations will either sell other foods not already offered on campus or provide free food at events.
Dorm Life There are no dorms.
Academic Rigor Although it depends on the classes you take, you'll find that all of the professors at Palm Beach State College have fairly high, yet resonable expectations. You will not pass any of your classes if you are consistently absent, do not participate in the class, nor study (regardless of how well versed you are in the subject prior to taking the class).
Tips for prospective students Make sure you take advantage of all there is to offer! Your orientation is not enough. Make sure to ask question, explore the school website, check out all the buildings, participate in the clubs, AND CHECK YOUR SCHOOL EMAIL DAILY. There is even an option on the school website called Live Help for when you have questions but can't physically make it to the school.
In three sentences Palm beach State College is a great stepping stone. If you canâ??t afford a prestigious university or want to save some cash on general courses, itâ??s a great option. The teachers are really well versed in their subjects, T.A.s donâ??t teach the classes (just teachers!), all of the campuses are beautiful, and itâ??s a very friendly and safe environment.

Clubs and Activities PBSC always has activities and clubs for every type of person. From history buffs to dance teams they got it all!
Great for these types of students Campus is great for students who want to connect with classmates and also have small class sizes so if they do need help they can ask the teacher directly not through email only like lecture classes.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Palm Beach Gardens is the best campus.
Bang for the buck Great school for great price! You wont find a better deal elsewhere and honestly the college is more than worth it.
What to do for fun For fun they have a student entertainment center where if you need a break from studying there is so many games to play and hang out with classmates.
Food and Dining Dunkin Donuts on campus!! Cant get better than that! They also have a food court area where they serve hot and delicious meals that have a daily menu change. Food is amazing!
Dorm Life No dorms.
Academic Rigor I feel the academic rigor is a 3/5 because the material is just enough to challenge you but not so overwhelming it's nearly impossible to pass. I like the challenges, it pushes you to open and learn more than you ever could.
Tips for prospective students Always remain dedicated and always ask for help when in need. Not just from the knowledgeable faculty but even the professors will assist you with your needs. Take advantage of the library and free tutoring! All these aspects will help you overcome any obstacles that come your way!
In three sentences PBSC is an interconnected school where a student doesn't feel like just a number. The faculty and staff go above and beyond to help you find your way to your admired career. Classes are small in size so students gain the relations of their classmates as well as the support of their professors.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Most of the students are very well behaved and kind that I don't think that there is any need for a warning. When I walk around I see many security workers driving around in their golf cars. Do watch out for other students stealing though. There was an email sent out to the students via the College email warning of cars and cellphones being stolen. I do believe that my digital camera was stolen as well. Keeping track of your belongings would be well advised.
Clubs and Activities Clubs and activities look good for your transcript. Sadly, I am not involved in any right now to give feedback.
Great for these types of students Palm Beach State College is great for those who love interaction due to the small class room size.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus They love to celebrate culture and they hold a lot of festivities. Around finals week they post posters and send emails to your college website of the free benefits that are to be distributed. Free food and drinks go all around.
Bang for the buck I love going to the library and doing homework there, I feel more studious and focused.
What to do for fun Walk around the campus, it's beautiful. Walking around in the medicine garden at the Palm Beach Gardens Campus is pretty awesome, but, watch out for the mosquitoes especially at night/evening time!
Food and Dining The Dunkin' Donuts donuts are not warm. I personally like the hot chocolate there. It's addicting. The school's cafeteria makes the best make-your-own-burrito rolls, but it's about five dollars for two sandwiches. It's in a way like Chipotle since you chose what you would like in your sandwich, but, it's not like Chipotle in the way that there's a limit to the amount of items that you put in your sandwich. It's still delicious though!
Dorm Life There are no dorms at Palm Beach State College.
Academic Rigor Even though the college class rooms are smaller, it still can be very challenging. Ask questions and don't be shy like the rest of them. You will find that a lot of people are too shy to say anything, even when speaking out is needed. The best part is that most professors are willing to hear you out and help whenever they can. What a wonderful advantage!
Tips for prospective students If you are looking for inspiration go to the right places such as: the school's library and the study centers/math labs. Don't arrive late to class. Study and do the best that you possibly can do, even if it's an 'easy' class. It's easy to slip and fall if you're not watching your step especially into the unknown.
In three sentences Many students that attend Palm Beach State College are so friendly and gregarious. The professors push the students to their max but are kind enough to provide opportunity for those seeking extra help. Even if it's a community college, the professors still challenge you.

What to do for fun There is not anything on campus but there is a huge park down the street. But for school, it has a great gym to workout at and all of the sporting games are a blast to go to.
Tips for prospective students Make sure that you do your homework. Also, please try to use their library to full advantage. It can make or break your grade.

Clubs and Activities Too many to count. If you have an interest, I am sure there is a club out there.
Great for these types of students The class rooms are small and the teachers actually learn your name.
Bang for the buck Great experience for the price.
What to do for fun Mainly, I am a beach bum, when time permits.
Food and Dining Have never eaten there.
Dorm Life I live off campus.
Academic Rigor It all depends on the class and professor. Some are easier than others, some are incredibly challenging.
Tips for prospective students Tuition is less expensive, but you learn the same material as you would in a 4-year university. Do not be disheartened just because you are going to a 2-year school. At least you are going to school!
In three sentences The school is great for what it is. It is mainly a transfer school that helps prepare you for what a university will be like.

Food and Dining Only ate at the Dunkin Donuts on campus once, it was alright. I have not tried the cafeteria food.
Academic Rigor Some students find PBSC to be challenging, but for the most part, I did not.
Tips for prospective students If you want a nice campus, you should attend classes at the Gardens location. Don't forget to make friends, enjoy yourself, and study.
In three sentences Palm Beach State College is very affordable and you will get the same kind of education there as other general colleges, but for a fraction of the price. Categories Comments Bang for the buck The classes are pretty cheap about $300 for each classes. The bookstore can be a bit over priced I would go online to find books but everything is pretty cheap around here.
What to do for fun It's in the middle of restaurants, movies, and major shopping plazas. Also the major interstate isn't far away as well as the beach.
Food and Dining There are plenty of snack machines but the only thing in the cafe is Dunkin donuts. There isn't much variety when it comes to food.
Dorm Life There are no dorms here. I would suggested living with parents or finding a room mate because rent over is pretty expensive. A decent 1 bedroom 1 bath can run you from $800-$1100.
Academic Rigor To start off I would take two classes at first to get into things, but I wouldn't take no more than 4 classes 5 if you don't have a job or other activities to do. The students here are really nice and don't be afraid to ask for help when needed.
Tips for prospective students Remained organized and on top of your classes it's very easy to fall behind. There are a lot of resources for students if you look into them.
In three sentences Is a good community college to go to if money is a huge factor in your decision. Graduating with an associates degree here can get you accepted in any university. Registering is easy and everyone is accepted.

Great for these types of students people on a budget, down-to-earth, artistic, need extra help with math or writing (free labs & tutoring all day pretty much everyday).
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The smoking sections in the middle of campus is where majority of socialization is at besides the cafeteria area. But people are very friendly in the smoking section, open to meeting new people.
Bang for the buck Much cheaper to get an AA here then transfer to a University instead of getting your AA at a University.
What to do for fun Join some clubs, use internet on computers in library, check out the art gallery, and that about sums it up.
Food and Dining There's a Dunkin Donuts on campus and that seems to be where most of the food is at. There is a small cafeteria area but the food sometimes can be questionable, but they try.
Dorm Life no dorms.
Academic Rigor Some very good teachers here that care, but some not at all.
Tips for prospective students Look up professors beforehand on RateMyProfessor. Become savvy with the different entrances to the campus, as well as all the different parking lots (because they fill up fast). Sign up for classes on the same day they are open for registration, otherwise you will probably get very crappy classes. Don't be late, some teachers lock doors so you can not get in even if you are only 2 minutes late.
In three sentences A great inexpensive way to get your AA degree. Lots of real down-to-earth students, and a rather pretty campus (Palm Beach Gardens Campus) compared to most community/state colleges. Some professors don't care about helping students out at all, but some do very much; make sure you carefully select your professors.

Categories Comments Campus Safety You will never fail to see security patrolling about which makes one feel safe. Services like text messaging to notify students of when there is an emergency is convenient.
Clubs and Activities Clubs like the Peaceful Explorers, the Black Student Union, Art Alliance and the Phi Theta Kappa keep you entertained and meeting students. There is also a great wellness center on each campus available for students to use for free, and adorable art exhibits hosting works by local artists and students.
Great for these types of students If you are social or preferably introverted, old or young, finishing school, returning to school, have ten kids or none at all, PBSC will fit you.
What to do for fun The Duncan Theater on Lake Worth Campus produces beautiful cultural shows. On-campus events are not held often and word about them does not get around very well, especially if you are not involved in student affairs. However, Palm Beach County is filled with activities - especially downtown where there are a number of student-affordable shows and activities every week (some of which are free!).
Food and Dining Each Palm Beach State campus has a cafeteria with both delicious and healthful options and a Dunkin Donuts (Lake Worth campus's DD makes the best drinks, but it is not because I work there mind you). Because I have the privilege of attending the very lovely Palm Beach Gardens campus and the commodious Lake Worth campus I can assure you that there are great off-campus dining options available within five minutes of the area including Sushi bars, Starbucks, Tijuana Flats, McDonald's and Subway. If you are in the Gardens area, there is a huge mall across the street from campus that offers a great food court.
Dorm Life There is an absence of dorms on all four campuses, but there is off-campus housing available.
Academic Rigor Coursework may be challenging, and will require effort from the student as does any institution, but it is definitely not too much for the student to handle. Professors do keep in mind the various lives students have outside of classes, so the work load is not extreme, and free tutoring is accessible for those having a bit of trouble with courses or for those that need group study sessions before a big test. The honors college is available for students who are looking for more of a challenge.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus to me seems very safe, I have never had any issues while attending. I always see campus security driving around the parking lot which I love, because I take night classes.
Great for these types of students I cannot say if this is the College for every student, so let me tell you why I feel it is good for me. Basically I'm not rich and I have to work full-time in order to take of myself and right now this College makes it possible for me to be able to pursue my dreams. It is convinent as far as location and as for the class hours, they offer so many different times which can work with my schedule.
What to do for fun The campus always hosts different events, plus there is all different kinds of sports events going on.
Food and Dining I also cannot rate this, becuase I have not had the opportunity to dine on-campus, mainly due to the fact that I take night classes and I go straight from work to class. So no real time for food until I get home.
Dorm Life I cannot rate this simply because I live at home with my parents so I am not sure what dorm life is like. If I had to guess, if it is anything like the College atmosphere it should be pretty relaxing and friendly.
Academic Rigor As far as their academics go, this College offers a wide range of classes towards many degrees. Though most of them are fairly easy, there are some that are more challenging than others. In my opinion I would not expect nothing less for those choosing a more difficult major. If you do find yourself struggling too much, the College offers free tutoring sessions to all of their students.
Tips for prospective students My advice to all future PBSC students is to make sure to do all your research as far as which classes to take towards your major. Also do not be afraid to speak to the advisors about any questions that you have, because they are there to help you. Lastly, just make sure you do not lose focus, study like you are supposed to, utilize all the tutoring centers if needed, turn all assignments in on time and you will do great!
In three sentences In three sentences this College is awesome and I feel very comfortable here. Most of the professors are very friendly and easy to get along with. Overall this College is a Godsend for me, because with all the opportunities they have given, have made it possible for me to continue my education and accomplish my dream.

Tips for prospective students Know what degree you wish to attend and if you don't, I would highly recommend seeing an academic adviser before you begin registering for class. Register early if or on time for the school if you can because applying late may result in you having a limited selection of classes available to take. Listen your professors, be on time and keep up the communication with the professors if things come up and you'll be be a okay.

Great for these types of students Palm Beach State College is affordable and very convenient. If you reside in Florida and wish to complete an A.A., A.S., or even a Bachelor's Degree for a reasonable price this is the college you should attend. Their campuses are located in Belle Glade, Palm Beach Gardens, Lake Worth and Boca Raton. They also offer financial aid and a variety of scholarship opportunities. If you have a busy work schedule, the college also offers students the opportunity not to fall back in their learning with their online courses. Through the Blackboard, which is the online tool the college uses to teach off campus students, everyone can participate in online class discussions, as you would in a classroom.
What to do for fun There is a variety of extracurricular activities and clubs that the student can join at the college and have fun. Also, at the same time that students are having fun they get an opportunity to meet their peers and learn of opportunities for their future. Through their International Honors Society, Phi Theta Kappa, you are given the opportunity to participate in field trips and community service activities which I consider fun since they are hands on events where you collaborate in improving your community and giving your support for good causes. The college also incorporated fitness centers in the campuses which gives every student the benefit to go to a gym for free and be close to their classrooms at the same time.
Food and Dining All of Palm Beach State College's campuses have cafeterias serving quite a variety of options. The food is nothing fancy; it just ranges from chicken sandwiches to pizza. They do implement healthy eating choices such as cut fruit, yogurt, and salads. In the Lake Worth campus they offer Dunkin' Donuts for donut and coffee lovers. I personally have visited the Lake Worth and Boca Raton campus cafeteria; Lake Worth dining area does get very crowded at certain times of the day, but what is convenient I believe is that they have a small computer lab where you can also choose to sit and do your research or homework. There is plenty of space where to seat and eat comfortably. The campus cafeteria at Boca Raton is pleasant as well and what I enjoy the most is that in addition to the computer area, they also have a game room inside where you can play pool table among other games; thus, if you are stressed out about some issue you can just enter that room and play with a friend and relax.
Dorm Life No dormitories at the college.
Academic Rigor Palm Beach State College perseveres in providing its students with the right tools for achieving their academic goals. They challenge pupils with their honors courses and programs such as: the nursing, professional pilot, radiography, dental, business administration, among other programs. One of the institutions goals is implementing leadership skills in the lives of all of its students through their courses and with its honors society: Phi Theta Kappa. PBSC encourages students to build their leadership skills, and put these skills to the test in speech and leadership development class. Lastly, but most importantly are the professors; they are very knowledgeable and passionate when it comes to teaching and above all are critical thinking enthusiasts especially if you are enrolled in honors courses. It does not matter which degree you are pursuing, if an AS, AA or a Bachelor's Degree, every student gets to experience the challenge.
Tips for prospective students For all of your core courses in the college such as math, English, and literature try to attend the English and math lab; there they will help you personally by explaining to you the solution to your problem. Also, in their English lab they assist you with revising your essay projects. Their academic labs help you improve your grammar skills, researching knowledge and much more. The Student Center at the college often has workshops running for students who want to improve their writing in resume, in research papers and so on. Take advantage of all the resources and tools that PBSC provides you with and you will succeed in your classes and accomplish your academic goals.
In three sentences Palm Beach State College provides you with the adequate tools to succeed in accomplishing your goals. The college offers convenient schedules for all of the classes and benefits students that are not able to attend the campus because of work hours, with their online courses. All of PBSC campuses enable students to do great in their courses thanks to their workshops, math and English center and much more.

Categories Comments Campus Safety As none of the college branches are particularly large, they are easily and routinely patrolled by campus security. There are very few dark or secluded coves or corners on these campuses where crime could easily flourish. The campuses are well lit and monitored with surveillance cameras as well.
Greek Life While most of the Greek organizations are active and available at PBSC, Phi Theta Kappa is the most encompassing and relevant to further upper level studies. Not only do they routinely host academic and intellectual programs and events, but they regularly organize recreational and social events off campus.
Clubs and Activities While this state college offers access to most clubs and activities that other state colleges do, as a very ethnically diverse area, there are more multicultural and ethnic oriented clubs and activities at PBSC than the average state college.
Great for these types of students It's great for all students who want a best buy in quality education. It's great for all those who crave lot's of year round sunshine. It's great for those who want guaranteed assurance of being accepted as a transfer student into one of Florida's highly rated universities for Bachelor or Master degree study.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Palm Beach Gardens campus is diagonally across the street from two major and high end shopping areas, with movie theaters, where many students find part time employment. The Boca Raton campus is immediately adjacent to, and within walking distance to Florida Atlantic University. This makes taking classes at both schools simultaneously easy, and requires no living condition changes if transferring from one to the other. Also, PBSC students at the Boca Raton campus have immediate access to the far superior FAU campus food, dining and other services.
Bang for the buck The open air and rambling layout of the campuses afford one the opportunity to catch a breath of fresh air and a bit of sunlight in between classes. Being in Southeast Florida saves one the expense of buying heavy winter clothing. While academic standards are high, the atmosphere is utterly casual and friendly. All locations are strategically positioned near the interstate, major shopping and affordable residential areas.
What to do for fun With all campuses strategically located in Southeast Florida, the social and natural activity options are state of the art for subtropical areas. There is an endless array of night life options. The water and fishing sports are immediately accessible and affordable. Shopping spans the spectrum of styles and price ranges. School offers most of the classic sport activities and there is a student lounge, recreation area and gym. There are numerous academic and public service groups, clubs, and organizations to join and participate in.
Food and Dining While food and dining is simplistic, it is wholesome and good value. There is a Dunkin Doughnuts insuring a steady supply of good coffee.
Dorm Life They do not offer on campus living.
Academic Rigor Academic rigor and strictness vary with individual professors, as it does at all colleges. However, even they're online courses are very demanding and exacting, with little forgiveness.
Tips for prospective students Their online resources are a treasure, offering many classes and exceptional library and research features.
In three sentences Palm Beach State College provides a high quality education with a high ratio of PhD professors. Their multiple locations and online study options afford great geographical convenience and ease. It also offers one of the lowest tuition of most state colleges, yet it is regionally accredited and their credits readily transfer out.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Not bad, relatively speaking. A car was stolen from campus a couple of weeks ago.
Great for these types of students In-state Florida residents who want to get a degree without much debt.
Bang for the buck Average. Cheap, so if you can't afford a better education, it serves its purpose.
What to do for fun Clubs and organizations. The Duncan Theater
Food and Dining stale Dunkin Donuts on campus. Bad food.
Academic Rigor Meh. Most of it is busy work. Even the tough teachers just hand you a lot of work to keep you busy. And if there is material that is actively challenging, don't expect much help from your professors. Just had a VERY bad experience with the Math Dept and I will be filing a formal complaint as soon as the semester is over (it was implied that it could effect me badly if I put in a formal complaint before my grades were in. Nice, right?)
Tips for prospective students Do not take too many accelerated courses all at once. Especially not if you're working while you're in school Online courses are great if that's something you feel you could manage.
In three sentences Cheap, with some decent courses. Having attended college before, I would not rate this school very high at all, but if you want to just do the basics and get a piece of paper this school is fine.

What to do for fun There are always activities to do. Its just a matter of finding them whether religious or not there is always something.

Dorm Life I have heard the dorm life is pretty fair but I don't have any personal experience.
Academic Rigor The academic life is pretty tough if you don't pay attention. However you should do just fine if you study and do as your professors say.
Tips for prospective students If your serious about school and want to excel then you should consider Palm Beach State College, especially if your not sure on your major. It's better to treat it seriously than as a joke because if its just fun and games for you then your wasting your time. Palm Beach State is a good combination of both (Fun & Seriousness) but don't take it to any extreme.
In three sentences The college is great for those who are undecided about their major. The school really helps and tries their best to help you succeed and figure out what you wan to do. Categories Comments Campus Safety I'd say that the security is pretty good. There are always security guards patrolling the parking lots for any wrong-doing.
Clubs and Activities There's almost always something going on.
Great for these types of students Like I said earlier, this school is great for students who want to use this school as a stepping stone to a university and, eventually, bigger and better things.
Bang for the buck Basically, what you put in to this school is what you will get out of it. If you really have a goal in mind and dream big, you'll do great.
What to do for fun There's almost always some sort of event going on. You'll never get bored.
Food and Dining The food isn't great, but it isn't terrible either. If you don't want to risk your enjoyment with the school's food, you could always purchase your food either from the Dunkin Donuts in the cafeteria or the Wendy's across the street.
Dorm Life There are no dorms at this school.
Academic Rigor The classes can be a challenge, but there are not overwhelming. You can do it.

In three sentences I feel that this college has greatly improved over the years, and continues to provide the tools necessary for the students to be successful in their learning experience. Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus itself is very safe, with reminders of what can happen to unattended items flashed all around the school on TVs. I myself can admit to losing or forgetting books or a lunchbag around the school, but they are never touched or moved. I once left a lunchbox outside for an entire class length, and no one touched it or moved anything inside.
Clubs and Activities See above for what to do for fun. The clubs are really the only enrichment you can get outside of paying for classes.
Bang for the buck The college is cheap, but it has everything you really need for a college experience.
What to do for fun There are several clubs around Palm Beach State, such as the QED, the Rotaract Club, SGA, the Salsa Club, and others.
Food and Dining The food given in the cafeteria is passable. The one in Boca Raton has vending machines, the usual cafeteria branded foods, as well as college-made dishes. Some are not as good as others, and the ones under the heat lamp are bland, but filling.
Dorm Life There's no place to really dorm at PBS, or at least the branch I go to; it's a state college, after all, not a university like FAU. However, the areas are convenient enough for me to go to, and some have good synergy with neighboring colleges.
Academic Rigor For Florida standards, the teachers at Palm Beach State are, for the most part, experts in their subjects. They are professors, even adjunct professors, dedicated to giving you what you need. I can't rate them perfectly, unfortunately, due to the fact that there are some teachers I myself did not prefer.
Tips for prospective students If you want to go to college in the South Florida area, mostly around Boca Raton and Lake Worth, this is the best place to go; cherish it every chance you get. Don't waste time here; they go to good lengths to entice you into studying in their special buildings. I've gone there several times, and I've gotten better grades by talking to people and getting tutored by the specialists there.
In three sentences Palm Beach State College is a great start for me. So far, I have been able to do so much in class; most of it is hard work, but if it gets me ahead in life at a minimal cost, I gladly accept it. I seriously can't think of a better place for a South Florida high school graduate to go than Palm Beach State College

What to do for fun They have a lot of events and clubs!
Food and Dining Cheap food, unhealthy, the usual.
Academic Rigor It depends on the class, some are more work than others, average is three stars but math for me is 5 star rigor, as well as the history summer course was 5.
Tips for prospective students Check Rate my professor before choosing a professor, I had a great experience but my friend who can only choose classes to fit in her schedule without checking the ratings had a bad experience.
In three sentences The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. A nice atmosphere on campus, the surrounding area is a bit low-grade, but I feel safe on campus. The tuition is a great price point too, the lowest around.

Categories Comments Campus Safety the campus is pretty safe. i never minded to linger on campus after hours. even though the surrounding neighborhood isn't too pleasing, there is security on campus and the people are here mostly hear to learn. like i said, i never had a problem walking around nor with my car.
Greek Life there is no greek life.
Clubs and Activities i never really was involved. there isn't too much too offer though. though they do offer a community service organization and a sorority club.
Great for these types of students great for part-time students, those who plan to transfer for their junior year, don't mind being around wanna-be-thugs, and like the urban setting.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there really isn't much activity on campus. most student come for the classes and go to work afterwards. the campus isn't large and there's about 10-25 students in a class, on average.
Bang for the buck i took classes here as a dual enrolled student, so i didn't need to pay for my courses.
What to do for fun beach (5 minute drive from the college), bowling (15 minute drive to don carters), mall (boynton beach mall, about 25 minute drive), and local clubs (like rumbas 30 minute drive) if that sort of thing is what you like.
Food and Dining nothing but fast food restaurants all around, but wendy's is walking distance from the college. i prefer to eat healthy food, so that's why the rating is so low!
Dorm Life no dorms here, but there are nearby apartments to rent. wouldn't really recommend it though since the cheap or low cost apartment are on the east side of the highway and this is an are that isn't too safe...it's basically the hood or 'ghetto of greenacres.
Academic Rigor it all depends on the professor!
Tips for prospective students make sure to check out ratemyprofessor website and register for classes early! the classes that good professor teach get filled up before the semester starts! and one more thing, avoid going east of the i-95...unless you want to up your chances of getting mugged :)
In three sentences plenty of friendly people attend this college and the professors are a hit or miss. the local area has a wendy's located across the street, la granja restaurant on lake worth, and more fast-food places going north on congress ave. overall it's not a bad school. great start if you plan on transferring to a university later on.

Tips for prospective students always remember to have the right classes speak to your academic advisor which is a must.

Categories Comments Campus Safety i would say i feel safe overall on campus. i haven't had any times where i was worried abut my safety. i have morning classes so that is a little different than being on campus at night however.
Clubs and Activities various clubs to choose from. this is a great way to become familiar with your fellow peers as well as the school staff. it's even a great way to be more involved and take ownership of your campus.
Great for these types of students -great for students who are looking to stay close to home (west palm beach.) -good for students who are unable to receive financial aid or those who are paying for the classes out of pocket. -good for students who did not do so well in high school and need a chance to redeem themselves. -great for those students who need one-on-one tie with their professors.
Bang for the buck let's be honest, the prices beat most. in my opinion, the books are very expensive but other than that, you do get the bang for your buck.
What to do for fun there are many clubs you can be a part of that host various events to do on campus and outside of campus.
Food and Dining one of my least favorite aspects of the school. the only good food is dunkin donuts. this even gets old after eating it for a while. no variety at all and the setting of the cafe where you buy the food reminds me of my elementary school days, it's just awful.
Dorm Life commuter college
Academic Rigor some classes are more challenging than others but the perk of going to a state college rather than a university is that you have a much smaller class. this allows you to have one-on-one time with your professor when needed.
Tips for prospective students be wise about which professors you choose. make sure to take some time and do your research by going on ratemyprofessor.com. this will make a big difference in your experience as a college student. in addition to choosing the right professor, you need to plan your schedule accordingly. plan out a schedule that will be best for you, not your friends! be wise, you're in college now!
In three sentences the professors i have had so far ave been great, i would recommend them to any student. as far as the parking situation and the cleanliness of the school, i think this needs to be improved. overall, it is a very good school and i am proud to be a panther!

Categories Comments Campus Safety i've seen a few security guards around, but they mostly just tell you to not skate around or loiter. i've heard of many things being stolen and when i've lost something, they were very bad at returning it to me.
Greek Life nonexistent.
Clubs and Activities i barely heard of any and if i did, i wasn't interested.
Great for these types of students students straight out of high school or returning to college. also great for students that don't know what they want to do and/or don't have a lot of money.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus it's not a big campus. there isn't much there.
Bang for the buck you can finish your aa very quickly and with the right grants and scholarships, cheaply as well.
What to do for fun campus isn't big and you're not allowed to skate there. i didn't hang out on campus much and when i did, i just sat on a bench outside with my friends.
Food and Dining there's one restaurant and a little cafe area. it's nice to hang out in, but there aren't a lot of options.
Dorm Life nonexistent.
Academic Rigor the classes were very easy. similar to my high school moved over a mile.
Tips for prospective students don't skip class at all. some professors take attendance, but the others you just need to be there for.
In three sentences pbsc was easy, but fun. i finished my aa easily. similar to high school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety security patrols the campus constantly, and they are really nice people too.
Clubs and Activities there's over a dozen clubs at pbsc and several activities that take place. concerts, movies, sports, you name it. there's a gym, and a student center where you can hang out with you friends to pass time.
Great for these types of students those short on time, or with unusual, unpredictable schedules. take online classes if you want flexibility, or take a class that meets only once a week if you're up to it and if you're the independent type when it comes to learning.
What to do for fun check out the student center, play some games with some friends. join up with the sports, and join one of the various clubs.
Food and Dining vending machines with a variety of goodies. fancy a soda, water, or need a boost with an energy drink? feeling for some candy or chips? get some coffee at dunkin' donuts with breakfast or lunch. or just pass through the cafe line for some fresh food, or snacks.
Dorm Life no dorms, so therefore, no dorm life. ;)
Academic Rigor you have a choice between taking the easy classes, or the challenging ones. do a bit of research before you pick your classes. opt for the honors if you want a bit of challenge.
Tips for prospective students do not wait till the last minute to go to orientation and pick classes. only a good idea if you want a hard class with a teacher that... won't be up to your standards, per say... do your research, look through the syllabus' of prospective professors, and find their rating. the good classes tend to fill up quickly,
In three sentences palm beach state college is a really good, nice college in my opinion. it's a really friendly place, as the faculty are so kind, personal, and happy to help. the campus itself is pretty, relaxing, and fun.

Great for these types of students Students who are looking to stay close to home are perfect for PBSC. Additionally, it is perfect for students who are looking to get a feel of College life.
Food and Dining There are cafeterias on campus with affordable food. Healthy choices are also available . . . !
Dorm Life There are no dorms at Palm Beach State College at present.
Academic Rigor During the first semester, I would strongly advise taking a student life course. Academia is manageable, as long as the student studies. Without pre-knowledge, a student risks failing courses. In general however, courses are manageable, as long as the student stays focus.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students should expect to gain a college mindset, doing away with their previous high school perspective[s]. It is imperative, that students, upon entering college, be prepared to work for all their grades. professors are nothing like High School teachers - you are responsible for your education, or the lack thereof.
In three sentences Palm Beach State College is an affordable and well accredited institution. It lends its students the opportunity to better themselves through varied clubs and societies. It is a great way to begin the College experience and out of a 10, I give it a 9.99. =)

Bang for the buck Rent your textbooks, or try to sell them back within the first week classes are over. If your going to take classes with a friend try alternating semesters so you can share the books. I love the small class sizes.

Bang for the buck Palm Beach State College gives me the opprotunity to further my education without major stress over how I will afford it.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Nursing and Police students are widely known around the college. Those are simply two of the better graduating classes known at Palm Beach State College.
Tips for prospective students Keep a good head on your shoulders, learn to stay focused and work hard. Just because its a smaller state college doesn't mean that you don't have to do as much work. Don't be fooled, but always work hard.
Bang for the buck For such a smaller educational establishment, they offer a great opportunity for higher learning. The pricing for their classes are really reasonable especially since what you learn is no different from being at any other university or college. If you can't afford anything flashy, i'd definitely recommend Palm Beach State College.
Am enjoying being here It's quite the relaxing environment. From time to time they have live bands playing and small events going on. Social environment worth enjoying.
Am learning a lot The value of education is just like any other college or university. They teach and as long as you pay attention and learn to focus attentively, you'll learn. I feel as though within the last two years that I've been there I've learned quite a lot.

Tips for prospective students Stay on top of things at all times. Its every man for themselves, you cant depend on your teachers or friends anymore. Have good time management and have fun learning. You are only in college for so long.
Bang for the buck This school will definitely help you save money while you still get the same kind of education you will get in other state universities and colleges. Its always best to get your AA degree here annd then go to a college/university with your program. Better yet, PBSC might have your program.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy the fact that every week something is going on in the courtyards. Whether its a band play or they are giving away free food and having perfomances. There is alot to be apart of. The only part missing is the on campus dorms and the fraternities. Those are the only aspects missing from the full college experience.
Am learning a lot You learn quite a bit from your professors. Just make sure you find the right ones.

Tips for prospective students Look into what you want to do in your life, I mean if you want to be a doctor yes you need to strive fir Yale or hazard, but if you wanna be a police man or a fire fighter, even a teacher PBSC is the place to go.
Bang for the buck Like any college, classes are expensive but it is cheaper then a major university. Attending a state colleges the way to go to get your AA because it is cheaper then getting it at a major university, and it's the same degree.
Am enjoying being here The students and professors at PBSC are all very friendly, there is always something going on in the court yard and the SGA throws tons of bashes with free food just to bring a whole bunch of the students together.
Am learning a lot A majority of the professors at PBSC are so helpful. They adapt teaching methods so that they fit a majority of the students and if that's not enough they offer tutoring,or review sessions.I have not found one professor yet who wouldn't spend a little extra time with me to explain further what I was confused about.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school is great for all students who are ready to continue their education.
Tips for prospective students Definitely check with people you know who have taken classes that you are getting ready to take to see how they felt about the professor they took the class with.
Bang for the buck This was one of the biggest decision making factors for me because I got to find out exactly the major I wanted to pursue and it did not cost my a lot to complete my AA degree.
Am enjoying being here I feel that as a sophmore in college this was really the best place for me to be for the first two years it allowed me to get used to the work required for college and how independent you have to be for sucess in college. I do think that this is the best place for people who are not 100% sure of what the want to major in because they can get some of the required AA degree credits completed.
Am learning a lot I am learning exactly what I need to learn from the classes I am taking. In all my classes the material is explained before the work is assigned so I am not just teaching myself but working while the professors are assisting me. I do have to say though that some classes/professors are more independent learning than others. The amount of work required from each class is dependent on the professor, I have found that I work better with different professors than other students so while many people say that ratemyprofessor tells you everything you need to know about a professor you do have to really consider how you will work with the professor based on the post from other students.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Everyone!
Tips for prospective students Even though it is community college, take it seriously. Join the Honors College or Phi Theta Kappa; do things that are going to set you apart and help you to learn and grow! Keep a high GPA and you will get into any 4 year university! Also, if you plan to transfer do not wait until your last semester to start doing research on where you want to go...do that ASAP!
Bang for the buck Apply for the Foundation Scholarships they have and that should really help the cost.
Did enjoy being here There are times you love it and times you don't, but if you join clubs and make friends you are going to have a great time and never want to leave!
Did learn a lot Community college is a great time to learn about yourself and what you like to do. I did that here at PBCC, if you like a professor or certain course work, take another class in that field and see if you don't fall in love...I did!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Undecided students that have not yet decided which major to follow. It is also great for people that do not want to go to a bigger univeristy, either because of cost or distance.
Tips for prospective students If you decide to come to the school, and are planning to transfer, make sure you use your time wisely. Time goes very fast and you can easily lose track of it, and not realize you need to get many things ready before your graduation, especially if you are undecided about your major.
Bang for the buck The school is very affordable. There are tons of possibilities to get aid from scholarship and grants to loans, not only outside the institution but within.
Am enjoying being here As far as as the environment, the school is not stressful. I'd definitely look forward to have the actual college experience at a bigger university when I transfer.
Am learning a lot If you're looking for challenge, you need to make sure you choose the right teachers not everyone here can have the same look at academics as you. I've definitely found a couple of great teacher from which I've learned more than I thought I would have.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This college is a great option for students who haven't done great in high school. Many students struggle in high school and going to a 4 year college straight after high school can be a challenge. Palm Beach Community College prepares students for the transition to a 4 year college. Step by step the professors help students to understand college material and tackle difficult subjects. There is no competition between students and students are encouraged to proceed at their own pace. Palm Beach Community College isn't only a great option for the traditional student coming from high school but also for adults who have never finished their education. The college offers many night classes so adults can attend college after work. Also, the college's low fees make it affordable for people with families.
Tips for prospective students Remember to always ask questions. This might seem obvious but many people actually don't follow through here. Students are on their own and they don't feel comfortable in that environment, many are too shy to ask questions. Find out whatever it is you need to know whether it is directions to a class or what clubs are on campus. The more you ask, the more you know, making the transition to college a smoother process. Also, join clubs or other extracurricular activities. With exams, papers, due dates and grades college can get pretty stressful. Joining a club will give you an outlet by relieving stress; academics are important but so is having fun. Being part of some organization also enriches the college experience because it gives you a chance to be part of your college. One of the most important tips I could give you is to be organized. Keep a planner and write down every single thing you need to do in it; assignments, major due dates, group meetings, interviews, internship opportunities etc. Have a different folder or binder for each class and keep your papers in a neat order. When things aren't organized there's a lot more room for confusion and stress.
Bang for the buck Community College is a great choice for students who don't have too much money to spend for college! For a full time student tuition is only $1000 per semester. On top of that if you have Bright Futures or other scholarship money you pay even less. I only paid around $600 for tuition this semester! You also save money on room and board which costs around $8000. There are no additional daily expenses for students living at home. You or your parents do not have to pay for an extra toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet paper, groceries etc.
Did enjoy being here The staff and student body are so friendly. People are always willing to offer their help. During the first two weeks of every year there are former students and staff located all around the campus to help freshman and other new students with directions. Some people are even willing to walk you to your class. This attitude is found throughout the whole campus from the library to the bookstore, to the cafeteria etc. I also love the fact that the college is very diverse in its student body. There are all kinds of students here; students fresh from high school, adults finishing their education and students from a variety of ethnic backgrounds including international students. The college strongly focuses on academics but also on extracurricular life. There are a wide variety of clubs and organizations ranging from the jumpstart jump rope club to Phi Theta Kappa.
Did learn a lot The professors are extremely educated about their particular subjects. Every day I am learning more and more. They provide an encouraging learning system which motivates us as students. They're also always available if a student needs extra help enhancing our knowledge. Each professor I have has taught me so much and on top of that they have taught me how I can use their subject in the real world making it applicable to us.

If you slacked off a bit in high school and you need to pick yourself up before leaving for a university. Maybe your family is very close and you are not ready to leave them, there is no need to put your education on hold, you can continue on campus or online! Palm Beach State is great for all types of students, and you can always find a class to fit into your busy schedule.
Tips for prospective students To all incoming students: Be proud of your decision to attend Palm Beach State! Attend more of the enriching events held here at the school, learn from all the unique people on campus, and most of all bring something to add to this outstanding campus. It may make your learning a bit more enjoyable!
Bang for the buck For the amount you learn from the teachers here at Palm Beach State, you really get your monies worth
Am enjoying being here As much as I learn here at Palm Beach State, I do not find an abundance of school pride. The campus is beautiful, and the teachers are excellent, but I feel as if the student body of the college need to hold more pride towards the school they are attending.
Am learning a lot Here at Palm Beach State, the teachers are remarkable! Everyone is more than pleased to help you in any way they can. Teachers answer any question you have to the absolute fullest, and they are always available as a resource.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students PBCC is great for students who are not financially stable at this point in their lives. This institute offers great scholarships and grants through financial aid, which allows that student to save up as much money as they can.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students who plan to attend PBCC should know that just because it is a community college doesnt mean it is going to be a piece of cake. The professors here do challenge you and they wont coddle you. They expect you to act as adults, because now you are one.
Bang for the buck You most definitely get your money's worth at PBCC. Considering how expensive state universities are, PBCC enables you to learn the same material for a considerably cheaper amount. The first 2 years of college are getting the core classes under your belt anyways, so going to PBCC allowed me to save up for when I plan to transfer.
Am enjoying being here I'm very grateful to have gone to PBCC my first 2 years out of high school. I've accomplished the required core classes while saving a lot of money and learning in a not too small environment, but it is definitely a more personal setting in the classroom.
Am learning a lot I have learned a great deal at this Institute. Most of the professors here are devoted to teaching you in the best way possible. They want you to grasp the concept of whatever subject your are studying and are passionate about teaching.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This college is great for part-time students who are working as it offers a classes at night and on weekends. It is a great fit for non-traditional students who have not been in school some time because it offers them a way to start over without breaking the bank or forcing them to completely alter their lifestyle to fit their class schedule. Last but not least, it is a great option for recent high school graduates who aren't sure what they want to major in, want to stay close to home, want to join one of the limited access programs (nursing, firefighting, etc.), or simply want to save up some of their money before transferring to another institution.
Tips for prospective students While some may consider community college to be an easy alternative to a university, the expectations at this level are still higher than some students may be used to. The environment is a bit less structured in the sense that there is less busy work and more independent studying. In order to do well at this school you must be willing to put put forth the effort necessary to learn the material and you have to know when to ask for help. There are plenty of resources available to help you learn if you are only willing to look for them. Also, get involved with some of the extracurricular activities available. There are plenty of organizations, both academic and social, to help make your time there more enjoyable. It's a great way to meet people who share your interests and the academic organizations may even help to reinforce what you are learning in your courses.
Bang for the buck Even though the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship has recently reduced its tuition coverage, the majority of community college tuition and fees are still paid. For those who do not have this scholarship, community college tuition is still far less than tuition at a public university and after earning your associate's degree, the credits should transfer to other post secondary institutions, which saves you money in the long run.
Am enjoying being here While this school is a sort of stepping stone on my way to a university, and I do look forward to transferring to a post-secondary institution with a bit more prestige, I cannot help but enjoy my time here. Palm Beach Community College offers a fairly comfortable environment for everyone from recent high school graduates to non-traditional students. I have always found the faculty and staff to be friendly and helpful and the students are generally respectful of others. The campuses aren't overly crowded and if you're willing to walk a little you can usually find somewhere to park which is more than can be said for many universities.
Am learning a lot Obviously the type of learning environment created varies from professor to professor, but one can always expect small class sizes. Many of the courses considered to be high risk (those that have a greater percent of students withdrawing or failing due to rigorous coursework) have supplemental instructors (SI's) who hold study sessions outside of class and are more than willing to help. Though the courses at this college are not considered to be difficult, I have still found myself learning a great deal more than most would have expected. The upper-level math and science professors (specifically those at the Eissey campus) are brilliant. As long as you are willing to learn and put forth the required effort, you will excel.

Tips for prospective students This institute is a great opportunity You will learn so much.It is very easy but will take all of your dedication as well.
Bang for the buck The cost for each class is very manageable. It is a major difference from a university. Apply for financial aid on a website called fasfa.gov.,by doing so you may not have to pay for anything.
Am enjoying being here It is a lot of being at the institute. It offers so many activities. The campus is quiet and peaceful as well. The school brings a secure feeling for first time students or any student for that matter.
Am learning a lot I have learned so much from this institute. The school has numerous options that helped. The first option is having the professor meets with the student to go over notes. Second is to create a study group. Third is the best option of all. The school has a Student Learning Center for each subject that is offered. There is a tutor who will meet who with the students by appointment or walk in.
