There's not much to do, but try and get involved in something extracurricular, otherwise you won't have a whole lot of fun.

Don't judge at first glance. The first time I toured this university, I thought it was a lovely place, but I felt the people were snooty and I would not be happy here. After a transfer, I found that this university is actually quite friendly and they took me even with the several issues that I had faced with other universities. The school may just surprise you.

Otterbein isn't all bad, but if you have a chronic illness, beware. Do not let a friend or a tour guide influence you. Their job is to get you to go here. You should go to a school because you are interested in a certain program.

Visit at least 3 or 4 schools that you may be interested in. Keep an open mind and take notes and pictures when you visit. This really helps in reminding you about the pros and cons of each school and makes your choice a bit easier. Choose a school that is right for you and your needs; not your family or friends. This is your future.

It's a very home-y feeling. Because of the size and the location, you feel like you know or see everyone on campus. They really like to emphasize the community feeling. If you want to get away from the high school setup, I would look in other places. Classes are kept small, and I have never had a TA teach my class- only the professor. And, most professors are extremely accessible whenever you need them. If you're looking at a more generalized major like history or math, this might not be the best school for that. They put a lot of money into their science and arts programs while the others tend to get left behind. However, they still are decent degrees. One of their outstanding points is the internships. You can start with internships as soon as freshman year, and you will absolutely complete on by the time you graduate.
