Great for these types of students Medical career
What to do for fun Uber/drive to the beach.
Tips for prospective students Bring a car. Go to the grocery store. Don't eat in the dining hall.
In three sentences It is a very small, medical orientated school. Only go here if you are serious about pursuing a professional career in the medical school. You need a car if you are living on campus.

Categories Comments Campus Safety This school has students that are well taught. There is little to no problems when it comes to campus safety.
Greek Life There are some fraternities.
Clubs and Activities There are many so i do not have time to write them all down. Nova has activities every week and you are inform about them through email.
Great for these types of students Smart and hardworking
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is probably some but i am unaware of them.
Bang for the buck This school is recognize by many corporations so it is a "Bang For Your Buck".
What to do for fun You can go to the beach and there is many clubs to join from.
Food and Dining The food could be better but it is not that bad.
Dorm Life I personally am a commuter but my friends says its nice.
Academic Rigor This school academics are challenging but they have great professors to help you out.
Tips for prospective students Do not procrastinate and do your best.
In three sentences Nova Southeastern University is a good college if you want to learn. This college thrives in educating it's students. The tuition is expensive but it is totally worth it.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety guides and Davie police officers are all around even in the middle of night, so it is super safe even though a young girl walks alone at night. One of the safest campuses in the U.S.
Clubs and Activities There are a bunch of clubs out there.
Bang for the buck To be honest, NSU is good, but not perfect, not great. Just good. At the end of the day, you are rewarded what you input. They got good professors who really care about you, but those professors are not from Harvard, nor Oxford. It is a good university, but is not a top university. It is a A- university, I would say.
What to do for fun Thea beach is near, only 15 minutes drive. There are many good restaurants in this area where may surprise you if you are a Chinese/Japanese food lover.
Food and Dining horribly terrible.
Dorm Life Not familiar.
Academic Rigor The largest library in Fl is at NSU, so you may want to take advantage of that. Professors in general are nice and knowledgeable and want to help you succeed. Most students here are super studious so the learning community is competitive.
Tips for prospective students NSU is not a party university and professors are extremely strict, so you have to work hard. The campus food is horrible, so you may want to have a car. The student body at NSU is really diverse.
In three sentences Campus is super beautiful and people are nice. NSU is growing at a fast rate and will be a leading university in Fl in the near future. However, there are some problems that they need to work on.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus always feels very safe with scanning in to all the dorms, public safety constantly on the watch, and a police officer always somewhere close by. Also, its location in Davie is a pretty quiet area, which further makes you feel pretty safe.
Greek Life In my opinion, the Greek Life is very lame. There's no fraternity housing, which sort of seems to be something a frat/sorority needs to be legitimate. Thats just my opinion, I know people that really enjoy it.
Great for these types of students pre-med, beach-goers, workaholics, people interested in research, people with stomach's that can digest lead with ease.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Not really a tradition, but more of an unspoken rule: If someone is in a study room in commons, don't come in, they have "claimed" that study room.
Bang for the buck Kind of an expensive school, but I say you pretty much get what you pay for.
What to do for fun Even with its location, I sometimes have trouble with this, but here are some really fun things I did this year. 1) Went to the FREE miami dolphins football games 2) Went to the miami zoo, discounted tickets through SOS 3) Took golf lessons at a discounted price 4) Went to the leisure pool at the gym 5) Went to the beach
Food and Dining Very very very bad. By far my biggest complaint of this school. The meal plan barley enough money to keep your heart beating, and the food is known to give people stomach aches. The 24/7 starbucks comes in pretty clutch, but all the other dining areas essentially run on banking hours, closing extremely early, leaving you sometimes to eat a breakfast sandwich for both breakfast AND dinner. Notably, the student government is working to improve this area of the school, and change is on its way.
Dorm Life My residence hall, Commons, is a very nice building with nice study rooms that I often utilize.
Academic Rigor Nova is definitely a challenging university, and you can definitely find yourself spending an entire working day trying to bust out lab reports, essays, or studying.
Tips for prospective students 1) Have a car if you can, you feel trapped if you don't 2) Be social in the beginning to establish some friends 3) Live in Commons, not Goodwin 4) Take adverting of Sharks on the Scene deals to do some things off campus 5) Sign up for Miami Dolphins tickets as soon as they open otherwise you won't get a ticket
In three sentences Nova Southeastern is a very good university for pre-med students with good opportunity, and in a great location. Some downsides in my opinion are its lack of campus life, and its food/meal plan, which I find especially bad. Overall though, a great school in my opinion.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The Campus Safety stands to be a nuisance because they don't provide you with help in the moment you really need it. If someone scratches your car then they say, "would you like to make a report and we will get back to you", but they never do.
Bang for the buck Living off campus
Food and Dining The food isn't that good. It's a food court that's located in the Don Taft University Center. They provide pizza, subway, Starbucks, and etc. The workers don't appear to be happy there so there have been moments with the servers just chuck the food onto the plate. My experience has never been the best; maybe yours will be better
Dorm Life The people are not very friendly and at the end of the day, there is no dorm life because everyone is studying. It's best to live off campus considering the price and once you move into the dorms; there is really nothing to do. The people are a different breed; taking into consideration they were born with a silver spoon in their mouth.
Academic Rigor This honestly depends on your major. If you're a pre-med student then you will have to manage your time very well because you will be studying every day. If you are a business major then you will have alot of free time. The classes continue to get extrememly hard depending on what you are taking. Chemistry is curved by 15 points, but orgainic chemistry is not.
Tips for prospective students Work hard and you will achieve anything you set your mind to.
In three sentences Nova Southeastern University is a school of diversity. They bring different ethnic groups from all over the country and provide them with an expensive education. NSU is more concerned about making a profit.

Categories Comments What to do for fun In addition to all of the sports and social activities the Nova Sharks have to offer, it is needless to point to all of the activities one can enjoy within short driving distance in the Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and the Palm Beach areas.
Food and Dining In addition to fine dining facilities on campus, there are numerous restaurants in the area near the school. Off-campus, Fort Lauderdale offers a full spectrum of dining choices from fast food to 5 star cuisine.
Dorm Life Nova has a variety of student residence facilities all within convenient walking distance of the classroom and library facilities. However, off-campus housing is also available while local residents also number within the campus population.
Academic Rigor Selected last year as one of the most highly esteemed universities in the world, its programs offer some of the best curriculums one can find. The old saying, "no pain, no gain," certainly applies to Nova as good study habits are absolutely necessary.
Tips for prospective students It is a good idea to apply as soon as you are able and, in addition, you will most likely need scholarships, grants, and student loans as Nova Southeastern University is a private school. Although it is not one of the most expensive schools in the country, tuition, room and board can be a challenge to any pocketbook.
In three sentences It was my privilege to be accepted by the Nova Southeastern University pre-law program, but Nova has a degree program for almost everyone. Its science programs, especially in the area of oceanography, are second to none. My objective is to attend the Shepard Broad School of Law at Nova, however, many highly acclaimed graduate programs are available.

Categories Comments Greek Life There is no greek life
In three sentences This school is the absolute worst. You want to take a certain class? well you probably can't considering it's not available till an even year winter semester or an odd year fall semester. Want to take summer classes? well you can't get scholarships or use your fasfa... so then why not transfer to a college for summer and then come back? Well you can't because if you do, those credits do not count. Want to ever transfer out of NSU? WELL YOU CAN'T because nsu's credits can't transfer to the other colleges because of the rules that nsu made in order for you to be stuck at the school. Already payed your tuition for the semester? well guess what, you're going to have a phone call every week about how you didn't pay and they're putting a hold on your classes. Had scholarships for the whole year? well watch out for next year because they just might cancel the scholarships without telling you even when your grades are the same and you're on the deans list. Are you in the arts department? well news for you, they hold no auditions, so anyone and everyone is let even if they have no talent

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities The school is small and therefore all organizations are student-led and this gives you a change to make NSU yours.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a foot therapy garden. You walk on smooth stones in the garden and it just unknots you somehow, (good for stressed out days).
What to do for fun BEACH DAYS!! Miami is like 30 mins away, go explore. Go out with friends during the weekend. Go on a service trip with your friends or your organization. You can make this side of Florida yours if you look for fun things to do. For instance, a lot of people like scuba diving, diving and snorkeling and this is the place to do it.
Food and Dining The food is very average. You will probably cruise throughout the options within the first month. There is no formal dining hall more like different places such as Subway, Chick'n'grill (which is like Chipotle) and Pizzaloft. However, most people seem to enjoy that style so they don't complain often. However, there are great places to eat off-campus and there are student discounts. Therefore if you ever get bored of campus food you can go off-campus.
Dorm Life Goodbye community showers!! All the dorms on campus have private bathrooms depending in which hall you live. Rooms are way more spacious than average dorm rooms. If you live in the Commons Residence (which I do) you get a suite-style room, so you have your own room and roommates as well.
Academic Rigor The classes are very challenging depending on which ones you choose. A lot of the students spend week time immersed in books, just walk around campus and you can tell.
Tips for prospective students If you are in high school make sure to rock them SATs cause Nova will give you cash unlike some universities. Keep looking for scholarships, it is a private university and therefore is on the expensive side of things. Ask yourself if you can deal with humid heat and a small school.
In three sentences Summer during winter. Small classes which means professors know you by name! Open community.

Categories Comments Campus Safety That is one thing I have to give to NSU, it has a -100% crime rate. It's rare to hear things go missing, see suspicious police activity, and feel threaten by other students. Laptops are often left unattended and walking to the 24-hour starbucks at three-o'clock in the morning is an every night tradition
Greek Life Fairly weak. The letters, chapters and traditions are there, but the actual spirit of Greek Life is noticeably missing. It's common to call NSU Greek Life fake greek, since it doesn't escape the lack of overall spirit the whole university has.
Clubs and Activities You tend to see the same people in organizations, purely because Nova students are lazy and lack the desire to be involved. Although it makes it hard to through a huge event, it does make it easy to be able to have titles and influence in the school.
Great for these types of students Studious One that enjoys influence
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Anything-That-Floats Raft Races
Bang for the buck If you just want a degree, THIS IS NOT THE SCHOOL FOR YOU. If you want to leave college having your name on the tongue of those in the university, then (and only then) this is definitely worth
What to do for fun Nothing. Seriously, if you don't make your own fun, then you won't have any. There is a barbeque place and beach volleyball court in the residential area. Fort Lauderdale beach is very close, with a lot of restaurants and shopping centers. Miami (like South Beach) is also about 35 minutes away as well
Food and Dining It's decent, but it becomes very repetitive very fast. There are two new bars on campus, but the menu has been significantly reduced away from what made it so great the semester it opened
Dorm Life Expensive and lack of options
Academic Rigor This is all based on the professors. Being able to slacking, however, is rare. For the most part, it does tend to be a bit easier than most colleges
Tips for prospective students Nova is based on opportunities and small class sizes; if you're not active in organizations, internships, etc, then it's not worth it. But if you are, especially if you're thinking to be a pre-health science student, then its a great school. It's extremely easy to gain internships, know your professors, be an lab assistant, and become involved (including executive board.)
In three sentences Nova is based on opportunities and small class sizes; if you're not active in organizations, internships, etc, then it's not worth it. School spirit is an all-time low and student participation in events is almost minimal. Classes do seem to be easier then most other colleges as well

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Nova is known for giving out scholarships so look to see if you qualify for their presidential scholarship that provides full tuition and dean's scholarship that awards around $2,000-$9,000 per year. Join clubs and/or Greek organizations if you want to fully experience college life.
In three sentences Nova Southeastern University is perfect for students who aspire to work in the medical, law, or computer science field. They offer many majors and minors that encompass the prerequisites of many careers. Nova's campus life satisfies the college experience many students want yet also has the perks of a private university such as smaller class sizes.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very safe campus.
Greek Life Personally I do not know much about the Greek life since I am an athlete but I only hear great things!
Clubs and Activities There are a lot of intramural sports and clubs across campus. There is something for everyone, you will for sure find what fits you.
Great for these types of students Perspective graduate students will really appreciate Nova for their dual admission program.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have a lot of school spirit.
Bang for the buck It tends to be on the expensive side but there are many opportunities for students to receive financial aid.
What to do for fun There is an amazing pool area in sunny south Florida, a huge recreational facility including gym, sauna, rock wall, and basketball/volleyball courts.
Food and Dining The cafeteria does need some work and is probably the only bad part of the university. The food is not healthy and not quite under perfect health regulations. However, there are a multitude of off campus dining locations that are fairy inexpensive and very delicious. Also, upperclassmen have the opportunity to cook for themselves in the kitchens in their room.
Dorm Life The dorms are all brand new and extremely comfortable. No floor wide bathrooms for the residents. Each room has its own amenities and improves with credits the students have earned.
Academic Rigor Nova Southeastern is a very academically challenging university. You will be taught by experienced professors, most with PhD's. The classes have a 25 person size limit so there is always time to ask the professor questions in class, as well as in their mandatory office hours. Nova also offers complimentary tutoring services for all students.
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of the amazing Dual Admission opportunities including Pharmacy, Law, Dental, Osteopathic, and Optometry. This allows you to earn your bachelors degree and have a seat reserved for you in the graduate school of your choice. Also research the many scholarships and grants that only Nova Southeastern specifically provides for its students.
In three sentences Nova is an amazing University that provides its students with an array of possibilities. There are many different athletic programs, academic opportunities, and college experiences to be seen at Nova Southeastern University. Nova is like a second home, it provides everything necessary for its students to achieve their goals.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is enforced 24/7. Public Safety is always circling the campus and provides vehicle assistance, safety escorts and they also help with lost and found services. While walking on campus you might see a pole with a blue light and a button to press just in case of an emergency.
Greek Life Greek life at Nova is small but within the years it has made great strides. They are on their way to becoming stronger and bigger by helping the community, putting on events around campus and teaching peers what they stand for. Events such as stroll off, fashion shows and date auctions are held to raise money for causes such as autism and cancer. They also put on event for students to be social such as parties and BBQ's.
Clubs and Activities There are a varieties of clubs that are new on campus and old. Each one makes an impact at Nova and they all set goals to make it an fun, exciting and enjoyable place for students to make friends and have events.
Great for these types of students This is a great place for students that want to make connections have opportunities and to learn more about themselves.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus On campus there are two locations on campus that are quite unusual. The medical healing garden is a beautiful area where students can study and also walk barefoot on the path of healing rocks. The other location is the Gold Circle Lake that holds the yearly water raft race and it is also said that if you walk around the lake three times with a significant other than you guys are going to fall in love.
Bang for the buck This is a great school to be a leader. There are many opportunities to make a change, let your voice be heard and to learn many life decisions. It is uncommon to go to a school where you are a freshmen and have an option to take on big roles but at Nova they give you that choice to showcase your skills.
What to do for fun Since Nova is a growing University there are many clubs forming that host events. The Student Government puts together great events to be active, have school spirit and to help out the community such as raft races, concerts and parties. Outside of the campus there are many things to do such as taking a 15 min trip to Fort Lauderdale beach and the 5 min drive to the Westfield mall that just opened up a new movie theater.
Food and Dining There are many options at NSU and each year the options widen and change. The food and dining could be quite expensive if you do not have a meal plan but other than that it has a lot of food options from subs to Mediterranean dishes. New on campus is the Flight Deck Pub that is great hang out spot or place to relax and study.
Dorm Life I love living on campus. It is safe, clean, gives me opportunities to have late study sessions will other students and helps me learn more about myself while away from home. The staff that works for residential living at Nova Southeastern are always respectful and want to help students in any way possible.
Academic Rigor With such supportive professors it is easy to understand or seek help for academics. Each class is challenging but it is guaranteed if you pay attention and study you will understand. It is challenging but manageable depending on your major.
Tips for prospective students It is important to set a plan for academics, financial needs and enjoying your college experience. As a student it is important to maintain your GPA, be prepared for every class, understand your subject and be able to go out and have a social life. Always remember academics come first and once you achieve that goal then everything else will fall into place.
In three sentences Nova Southeastern is a beautiful campus that revolves around academics. It is a growing campus with many striving students that want to become successful. This is a great place to stay focused on your school work, make connections with people and have a college experience.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Everywhere you go there is Davie Police or Public Safety. There are emergency towers all around campus and a Residential Assistant is on call every night in case there's a situation in the dorms.
What to do for fun You can join various Greek organizations or sport. NOVA has over 100 clubs and organization for everyone from anime club to dental club NOVA has every club you could think of. If you don't see a club you like then they offer the opportunity to creat one.
Dorm Life The dorm life is awesome! Besides having the convenience of not having to wake up an hour before class and being able to go back to your room whenever you want NOVA dorm life host a lot of fun events. Water balloon fights, Frisbee matches anything you can think of the dorm life would host. As an added bonus laundry is free.
Academic Rigor The classes are challenging for in the end you come out knowing everything there is to know about the subject. The teachers teach what is necessary and do it in ways that any student can understand.
Tips for prospective students If you want to go to a school where you get to speak to your professor every class and enjoy having that one on one relationship NOVA is the school for you. If you feel that the price is a bit much, find scholarships and make it work.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are multiple events, activities, and extracurriculars to choose from on-campus. There is Sharkapalooza for the Weeks of Welcome, Relay for Life, and multiple Greek Life events that the entire campus can enjoy as a whole. Various clubs and organizations is a great way to get to know others and bond over your future profession as well.
Food and Dining The food at the UC is priced reasonably. There are multiple restaurants to choose from, therefore, you can change your diet from day to day.
Dorm Life I did not live in a dorm but I had a classmate that did. The dorm was very spacious with a fully equipt kitchen, couches to lounge on, and beds. If you are far from home I would recommend the dorm life.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor varies depending on how strong you are in that particular subject. Even if a subject is your strongest always study because you will always learn new information. For harder subjects, take your time and focus on the parts that you struggle with the most. Making an appointment for a tutor to assist you to understand will benefit you as well. Focus and ask questions in class, after all your professors will be the ones testing you, therefore, why not ask the source.
Tips for prospective students Stay focused and attentive. College is the doorway to your future and beyond. There are an abundance of fun activities and events on-campus but remember that the main focus of college is to become educated in your future profession. Make sure you manage your time according to studying for your courses. If you run into problems grasping the material from class, there are always tutors available to help you understand the various concepts.
In three sentences NSU offers highly educated professors to educate the students that are currently enrolled. Food and Dining There are a lot of food options. There is literally a little bit of everything, if not on campus, it would be really close by. Not to mention there is a 24/7 Starbucks on campus!
Dorm Life Dorms are great and spacious. Everyone here is nice and welcoming. Sharing is caring though.
Academic Rigor There are a lot of courses to choose from. There is a small student to professor ratio. Everyone is here to learn, not party.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you are determined/dedicated to your educational goals. It is a private school, so it is pricey, make sure you take care of business. Don't waste your time and money.

What to do for fun Explore the campus and find out about the events going on in the school. Go to football games and join any club of your interest. Also, explore the city as you will find many things to do.
Tips for prospective students I recommend the school to everyone who is looking to become educated in their desired field of study. What sets apart Nova from other universities is the attention you get from your professors and the small class sizes. If you're looking for a school that will make learning easier and better for you, Nova is the school that will suit your needs.
In three sentences NSU is an exemplary school which has offered me the opportunity to broaden my horizons. Classes are of small sizes which allows students the one-on-one experience with professors. I'm very satisfied with the school so far.

Dorm Life Dorm life is fun and friendly.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor is higher than most universities in South Florida.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is very well known around the campus if nova southeastern university. There are various post to warn students if there is an emergency and even for students to warn security if there is an emergency. Especially at night, it feels kind of creepy walking around so if you every feel scared you can go to one of those emergency posts and tell them that you're simple scared and security will come and take you to your dorm and or car.
Greek Life I am not in Greek life because I chose not to. From what I hear sororities are very catty and there is a lot of drama. Other than that it can help you a lot through your college years and looks good in the future.
Clubs and Activities There are so many clubs and activities for a student to be involved in. There's pretty much a club for every major and students are even capable of started their own club if it isn't already there. I advise students to join atleast one club to get involved.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are a couple traditions at nova southeastern university. For example, I'm the Carl DeSantis building there is what looks to me as a Native American being covered by wolf skin. This statue has a tail and it is said that if you touch the tail it give you good luck. During finals week you could see students walking past the statue rubbing it's tail as they make their way to class.
Bang for the buck Nova is an expensive university. Even though it is expensive, it ones make up for it. You are capable of receiving financial aid, grants, and scholarships from the dean. Being that NSU is a private school it makes it more costly than public and or community colleges or universities.
What to do for fun Nova is fun depending on what crowd you choose to hang out with. If you are in Greek life I'm sure you will have something to do every weekend. Other than that, having a group of friends to go to downtown Miami and Fort Lauderdale is fun too.
Food and Dining Nova southeastern university has a variety of food and dining to choose from. There is many places to eat on campus but being that there is always the same thing, one could get bored of it. If you choose not to fine on campus there are also many places off campus to eat and dine. For example, there is multiple plazas right across the street from NSU which aren't that costly.
Dorm Life I personally do not live in a dorm at NSU. I am a commuter living about 15 minutes away from this university. From what I have heard the dorms are nice and clean. I have seen that they are roomy and I would live there if I didn't love as close as I do.
Academic Rigor There are many challenges being that this is a private university. You are more likely to have your grades based on participation and being involved in class discussions in class. Professors know who you are so you can't get away with much and attendance is very important!
Tips for prospective students I will recommend this university to any prospective student. Like I have stated before, this university is very accepting to pretty much any one and this is why I like it the most. It's a private school so if you like small classes this university is perfect for you. The professors can focus on you if you need the help which makes it easier to have one on one conversations with them.
In three sentences Nova southeastern university is a campus full of diversity. I believe that everyone respects each other's race, ethnicity, and personality. From the first day that I arrived to nova southeastern university I feel accepted and part of this school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is very safe. Security guards and police that are special for the university patrol the campus constantly but not to a point where it is creepy. They do it just enough to make you feel safe and secure.
Greek Life Greek life is large and popular here as most of the students are involved in it.
Clubs and Activities Several sports clubs, cultural clubs, and academic clubs. If you can't find a club that fits your needs, then create your own club. This school definitely works to help increase the schools diversity and will support the formation of new clubs and organizations.
Great for these types of students Research opportunities and education are great for all students here. Majority of students here are Biology major or Marine Biology major.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Miami Dolphins training camp/ practice is located on our campus. Have several amazing people come and give speeches and talks, such as Bill Cosby earlier this fall.
Bang for the buck Certainly get the bang for the buck.
What to do for fun The gym, the basketall courts, the multiple pools, and the general area of Fort Lauderdale and Miami area are some of the many fun highlights here at Nova Southeastern University.
Food and Dining Food and dining is not the best here. There is a food court style dining area in the UC along with a 2 other cafes around campus. Truthfully, the choice for food here is not very good and within the first week here, most students including myself were tired with the food. This is an area of improvement for the school.
Dorm Life Students that live on campus will love the dorm rooms as they are not old in any shape way or form. They are constantly updated which makes living on campus much easier, especially if you are looking for a place to call home. The amenities are plenty including free Wi-Fi, laundry, and even pizza delivery right to your building if you don't have a chance to go to the UC for some food. The housing department certainly holds many events that allow on campus living students an opportunity to socialize and play games, etc.
Academic Rigor The classes here are not an walk in the park. Studing is a must, especially for difficult courses like Organic Chemistry. There are some classes with only a few assignments but others like Organic Chemistry where there are multiple assignments to complete. These assignments are challenging but nothing is impossible. The professors are very knowledgable and helpful and caring.
Tips for prospective students Be ready to have lots of fun as well as learn a whole lot. Be prepared to become involved in multiple clubs and organizations as it not only opens up new doors but also creates life-long friendships.
In three sentences Nova Southeastern University is a small and tightly knit school. Here you are known by your name and not by your school ID number, something I have valued and appreciate very much. The class sizes are no larger than 25 students and every professor works with the student if help is ever needed. The resources here like free tutoring are amazing. The campus also just speaks for itself.

Categories Comments Food and Dining Nova Southeastern University's Meal Plan As a student in college, what food I am provided by my school's meal plan is important to me as this is the main source of nutrition throughout my time there. At NSU, everything may seem great at first, but thing's take a quick turn for the worse when the sudden realization of having to eat here for the entire year washes over my mind. Walking in the first time, the cafeteria has a normal-looking food court-styled setting. There is a Denny's, a Pizza Loft, and Subway, and a few other choices. From there, I realized there are not many things to choose from, especially for those with dietary needs (i.e. vegetarian, gluten-free, etc). I quickly got tired of eating the same few things every day, but couldn't look elsewhere as I am an on-campus student without a car. Don't get me wrong, the school attempts to switch things up by offering sushi on Mondays and Thursdays, but it's not enough variety. The cafeteria at NSU screamed mall food court and fast food to me. Good meal plans are able to accommodate every students needs while also providing variety and nutrition. At my old school, University of Vermont (UVM), there were over fifteen different dining locations, two of which specialize towards vegetarian students and students with gluten-allergies, respectively. Each location offered fruits and veggies while also having their own specialty, like the store called Alice's which offered breakfast sandwiches that other places didn't. By having several options to choose from, students are able to obtain nutrition from different sources without feeling as if their diet has become mundane. Being able to feed students is a difficult task especially when it comes to working around their hectic schedules. Like most students, I tend to place academics first and eat when I'm freer to, however, not all stores on campus have closing times that work about my schedule. Although some stores, such as Starbucks, are open 24/7 on campus, that isn't enough to feed my hunger as it does with thirst. I am finished with classes around 8 PM on Thursdays, so it's rather disappointing when I need to wait for the next day simply because an option I want closes too early before my class even ends. At UVM, there are dining halls specifically designed to stay open until even the early mornings to feed students who were perhaps still in class or have studied too late. By having a place to eat that stays open even past the latest possible class, students at least had a place to eat when hungry after classes. These dining halls had slightly fewer options to choose from, but still had plenty of food at the same prices. Having slightly later closing times can help feed students with night classes who have a hunger to satisfy. Now to go over the meal plan itself. I am a little bias with this topic as UVM gave students the option to choose between points or unlimited meal plans while NSU simply stuck me with a point system. Points gave students a set number of cash points on their I.D. cards to spend at college stores like cash while the unlimited meal plan allowed students to eat at fewer available locations, but to eat as much as they wanted in buffet-style cafeterias. Along with both options, there were sub-options that were essentially the same thing, but at a cheaper price to accommodate those with financial issues. For example, going on the cheaper point plan simply gives the student fewer points to spend on food, but is the cheapest plan to be on. At NSU, I was given 1300 available meal points and that was it. I'm not saying this is necessarily a bad thing, but I would've liked the freedom to choose another option. The meal plans price itself, however, was fair. NSU's meal plan cost me $1300 for 1300 points, an even trade. On the other hand, UVM's point system offered either 1366 points for $1707 or 1050 points for $1341. The price was a bit higher, but UVM's point plans also both included 25 blocks which allowed the student to eat at the other meal plans' locations (the buffet-styled unlimited dining halls) 25 times. Both meal plans have their advantages and disadvantages when it comes to price and choice, but considering how much more I'm paying to stay at NSU, I can't help but to feel I'm not getting the right bang for my buck here. Along with the freedom of being able to choose a meal plan at UVM, it was also easy to locate food when I wanted it. The fifteen different dining locations that were nicely spread across campus which allowed students to walk less than a block before stopping in a shop that accepted their meal plan. Not having to walk very far to get a bite to eat is very beneficial for students especially for those who need to grab something quick and get to class. At NSU, the main dining area is the University Center located in the campus center. They offer the most choices there, though that doesn't mean there are many in the first place. The other dining locations for those on the meal plan are spread awkwardly throughout campus. The next dining area with the second most choices is on the complete opposite end of campus. The other choices are tiny stands that mainly offer small snacks and drinks and are dispersed in random buildings across campus. By having dining locations evenly spaced and in convenient areas for students to access, I am more likely to relieve my hunger right away by stopping in a nearby place rather than waiting for class to end and having to walk all the way to a main dining area to eat. I'm sure I'm not the only one who shares these opinions on the meal plan here at NSU, however, I'm also sure that there are people who actually enjoy the meal plan here. I can't help but to feel disappointed in NSUs meal plan especially when compared to the high standards of UVMs meal plan. If I were to choose a college based solely on the meal plan alone, I would choose UVM in a heartbeat; not only is their meal plan much better, but I also wouldve saved around eight grand. Not being able to eat when I want or being able to satisfy a craving because it's not available has made me view the food at NSU negatively. For a first-time college student, perhaps the food may seem exciting, but it didn't take long for me to become tired of my repetitive meal-schedule.
In three sentences I'm only reviewing the meal plan for an assignment, so look below:

Categories Comments Campus Safety There hasn't been one day that I've been on campus that I haven't seen the Davie police outside my building. Seriously the biggest danger on our campus is probably the ducks; even they don't really bother you except during your hustled walk to class.
Greek Life Greek life is okay, nothing really all too special. Some sororities do host events to raise money for good causes but they are usually of them auctioning off cute guys. Its not really my scene.
Clubs and Activities Our student leadership and activites office does a fabulous job of making sure that we have a variety of clubs and organizations to get involved with! My favorite part is that they also host various service activities as well, everything from beach clean ups, to service trips to Jamaica and Key West! I am involved with a program on campus known as Razor's Edge, and I whole heartedly believe that it was through this program that I became and will remain a shark!
Great for these types of students Biology majors galore!!! Nova really does cater to bio majors especially pre-med or exercise science track.
Bang for the buck It is expensive to go here, yes. However, without any hesitation I can proudly say that it is so worth it!
What to do for fun More often you'll find that people go off campus for fun. But with the beach about 20 min away, MIami about 45 min and various clubs/bars/restaurants about 30 min away. Obviously you're going to be off campus more than on campus.

Dorm Life I love living on campus, although pricey it can make or break you're college experience.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is public safety guards everywhere and emergency stations. Only thing is the warning system is usually through email, so have an automatic email notification linked to your nova email.
Greek Life The majority of this school is in a fraternity/ sorority. It is really easy to become a brother or sister if you want to.
Clubs and Activities Bio has so many clubs, if the school doesn't have a club you want you can easily start one up. Just talk to a success coach and they'll point you to the right direction to get started.
Great for these types of students Great school for Biology, Education and Business majors.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a gazebo in the campus garden that is quiet and very private. Good for when you want to study and enjoy the beautiful days here.
Bang for the buck This school has some really fun activities such as waterworks, homecoming, talent shows and games that are always fun to go to. Take a good group of friends and enjoy the fun.
What to do for fun There is always some type of activity going on on campus. It is important to pay attention because some things are not always announced to everyone and clubs get you busy but in a good way.
Food and Dining Eating at the school every single day can get kind of boring. Needs some more variety.
Dorm Life Some buildings are nicer than others.
Academic Rigor The classes are intense, but very useful. The learning environment is good and the teachers are incredibly helpful and involved with the students.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to study, but get involved in the school, make yourself noticed. Get to know your teachers because they open so many doors for you.
In three sentences This school is great when it comes to education, the teachers, advisers, success coach and many others want to help you be successful. You make many connections in this school and are in a very comfortable learning environment. This school is great for helping pursue a career path in Biology, Business, Accounting, Education and many others!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Pretty safe. Need an ID to enter campus as well.
Clubs and Activities Check the website, there are WAY too many to list.
Great for these types of students Those who like small classes, a big campus, helpful staff & students, those who like being known by staff & advisors by name and not just that kid that came in a few days ago.
Bang for the buck Your education may be more expensive but it's definitely worth it at NSU. Students and staff are all very helpful and friendly, making it easier to get work done, get involved in other programs and and outside of NSU, and make some new - maybe lifetime - friends.
Food and Dining Pretty good selection of food and places to eat at NSU, and in the area.
Dorm Life Heard it's pretty awesome. My parents won't let me stay on campus though/
In three sentences NSU has a beautiful main campus in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. There are over 50 academic clubs & organizations, sororities, and fraternities to join in. The staff and student body are all very diverse.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Well let's put it this way: If you don't have your SharkCard, they won't let you do anything!
Clubs and Activities The Rosenthal building is filled with choices for the interested student. They play music for hours on end and have a very friendly staff. All the clubs and activities are geared towards promoting office skills so if you have time, energy, and are willing to work within a bureaucracy, this is the place for you.
Great for these types of students Given that Nova Southeastern University is a Research Institute, those who are seeking publication can surely benefit from one-on-one advisement with professors. As well, the Undergraduate College is amazing with Performing Arts while the best Graduate school would be Dental.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus In the Carl DeSantis building, rumor has it that a student may touch the tail of the Indian statute once a semester for good luck on an exam... I have yet to call upon its ability.
Bang for the buck If you have the grades, they'll give you the money. After graduating high school with the Academic Scholars Award from Bright Futures, they offered me a full-tuition scholarship as an NSU Trustee. Also, the Honors Program allots each student a scholarship for having simply been accepted! Yes, it might seem expensive, but a wise professor once told me all that matters is time; if you have time, the money will come. Make your education a priority.
What to do for fun Tune into RadioX or jump in on a cycling class at the RecPlex. You can also always use the swimming pool or hang out at the Flight Deck - NSU's very own on-campus bar (for those of us over 21)!
Food and Dining SO many options! It seems as though every building has a deli, from undergraduate to graduate, and they cater to every -vore. Even the catering service strives to provide those healthier alternatives for students who are sick of pizza and soda.
Dorm Life I live literally across the street from the parking garage so consider myself an on-campus student. I ride my bike everywhere and enjoy the abundant greenery. There is, however, a lot of construction going on when you sum up I595's mess with the Town of Davie's water plant build as well as all the sewage fixtures on campus which interrupt traffic.
Academic Rigor If you seek academic rigor, you can find it here. For those high-achievers, the Honors Program will fill both curricular and extra-curricular needs. Besides providing amazing reading seminars, the program promotes off-campus activities such as cooking classes or horse-back riding lessons for the venturous.
Tips for prospective students Get involved! It's not about merely attending class but becoming one with your environment. Meeting new people means making connections for the future. As well, you build up skills and capacities that will come in handy in your career.
In three sentences NSU has Shark Spirit! The students are from all walks of life; diversity runs rampant. Professors are not simply teachers but active researchers making it a real-world experience.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Pretty good....they are constantly driving around and there are safety polls up around campus and the people are really nice and helpful
Greek Life Yup...first 6 weeks of Greek life is literally like the worst experience of college for those who want to join but once your in it seems all good....there is no hazing here but they do seem to have some control over people o.o
Clubs and Activities If they don't have what you want you can easily start your own club
Great for these types of students hard workers, researchers, bio majors, marine biologists, business, ect...most majors
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus no idea o.o
Bang for the buck Super expensive, but it's worth it. :D
What to do for fun There is literally something happening on campus everyday, no joke. There is always something to do on campus! :D
Food and Dining Great for the first week. o.o Not that much to eat. People seriously don't say Hey let's go eat...more like Aw man, why do I have to eat again? I don't want this. Basically all fast food type dining. And the freshman 15 is a lie unless you only eat pizza and Dennys...more people lose weight from not eating.
Dorm Life Great except don't trust anything that says quiet floor because that = party floor. Plus people can be crazy. Each room gets there own bathroom which is amazing! two per room or one your choice. :)
Academic Rigor Org is crazy o.o Like all other schools it is a filter class so they want students to fail; hence why they fire teachers who have a class that the majority passes. Another thing is that Nova has shorter courses than a lot of other schools so that means more work.
Tips for prospective students Stay positive and don't stress out. Pray and talk to God more than study. That is the best advice. The more time you spend with Dad the more He rewards you and helps you with school stuff.
In three sentences Beautiful campus, good classes, but honestly no good org teachers, and not many great math teachers. Don't transfer out to another school because other schools don't like to take nova credits that well. They take points off your GPA. But if you stay with Nova great things happen! Sorry this is long, but it is a great research school!!! I love it here!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus is pretty safe.
Great for these types of students Not very party-oriented, more academically driven students who like to relax on the weekends in a tropical environment.
Bang for the buck Education-wise, the money is worth it. The education at this university is good, and so are most of the faculty. However, when it comes to attending the university, I feel as though most of the money goes toward maintenance of grounds, instead of back to the students through programs.
What to do for fun Luckily Nova is very close to the beach and downtown fort lauderdale. Absolutely beautiful areas, and always something to do.
Food and Dining Food court is not good. I personally prefer to cook in the community kitchen because Papa Johns and Dennys gets old very quick.
Dorm Life Freshman dorms are nice. Department of residential life for freshman is TERRIBLE. People working there are awful and unsympathetic. Basically, you are on your own in terms of living and making friends.
Academic Rigor Work is rigorous but fair. No longer high school workload. Very important to keep up with everything.
Tips for prospective students Stay on top of financial aid, because the office is awful. Very unorganized department. Manage your time well. Keep a good calendar at all times.
In three sentences Nova is a school of driven individuals. Not a party school, but classes are great and faculty is generally very helpful. Campus is clean and well kept.

Tips for prospective students check into tuition rates first and do not come here as an undergraduate because this really isn't a traditional school.
In three sentences nova southeastern is a private university which needs to reconsider its plans for tuition and the student life. Students reach their aggregate limit faster than any other school because the tuition rates are out of this world with little to no help. Other than that, the university has great professors.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Public safety is available in nearly every building and they are constantly driving around campus. Safety is not an issue.
Greek Life One of the best ways to have fun and be involved with the community and other organizations. Need a job? Most likely someone working is a part or was a part of Greek Life and can hook you up!
Clubs and Activities Activities are held on a weekly basis and a lot of clubs are involved in these activities. Fliers are constantly passed and posted around for upcoming events and activities to be a part of.
Bang for the buck Yes NSU is a little pricey but it is worth it. Your major WILL be discovered here if you are undecided and there is almost no way you can't be involved with the school.
What to do for fun They have the Recplex where you can workout and do cardio, play basketball, swim, and climb the rock wall. NSU basketball games can get exciting with the shows in between and the Greek life is always doing something to entertain the community.
Food and Dining The food and dining at NSU is pretty decent, they have different places in the cafeteria you could go to like: Denny's, Starbucks, Papa John's, Chicken Grill, Food Bar, Subway, Juice Blendz and Greens. Sometimes the food can get old so they have a little department store called Outtakes that sell other foods and beverages.
Dorm Life As a commuter, I do not have much to say about the dorm life. I do visit the dorms a lot and the rooms are a decent size, not the biggest but the rooms usually have 2 people in it unless you are in a suite. The only annoying part is that the doors squeak but it is nothing that wd-40 cannot handle.
Academic Rigor NSU has a wide range of available majors and minors to all students. One cannot find a class they won't be interested in.
Tips for prospective students Join the Greek Life if you want to be more involved with the college community. Greek life will help you with job opportunities, joining other organizations, and a brotherhood/sisterhood among friends.
In three sentences I rate NSU an A! The community is great and being apart of the Greek life will definitely make college more enjoyable whether you dorm or commute. The campus is a nice size, clean, and easy to maneuver.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have never felt unsafe on campus. Public safety officers are always walking and driving around campus, day and night. Campus safety has a number you can call 24/7 if you ever have a problem, feel unsafe, or cannot get into your dorm because you locked your room key inside... Totally safe campus.
Greek Life Greek life is HUGE on campus. You'll see that many of the leaders in clubs, organizations, and SGA are Greek. We make a difference. The Greek Life here at NSU is not like the normal Greek Life at a public university; there's no hazing. Also, we're a bit smaller, so we know and have a relationship with all of our chapter brothers and sisters. Ask someone how unique Greek Life is at NSU and definitely go Greek! I may be biased because I'm Greek.. It's a way of life for now and forever!
Clubs and Activities No matter what I say, my comment on the clubs and activities would be an understatement. There are so many clubs to get involved in. I suggest you attend at least one meeting to every club you are interested in. You don't have to be actively involved to ever be involved. If there a club you don't see here at Nova, you can be the founder of that club. NSU is a large community-based school. Every weekend, NSU holds events where members of our surrounding community come, and usually bring their children. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer at or be a part of these events.
Great for these types of students NSU is great for people who like to be a part of or make a difference in their community. There are so many opportunities here, so this university is definitely a place for students who want to go places in life.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The more you are involved on campus, the more free food you get.
Bang for the buck It costs me about $35,000 each year to attend Nova. I pay for college by myself with loans, scholarships, and grants, and I also work on campus. As long as you get involved and make the most out of your academics and campus life, there is no other university as unique as NSU. I only gave 4 out of 5 stars because NSU does give very little scholarship money for just academics compared to other schools.
What to do for fun On the weekends, many people go off campus to Miami or downtown Ft. Lauderdale. There's always the beach that's 20 min away to go to; take your school books or study notes! Play an intramural sport. Greek life constantly has parties. There's always events going on around campus. It's good to be involved so you can attend all of them!
Food and Dining The food at NSU is like a food court. There are many healthy options, as well as unhealthy.. There is also a fast grocery store called Outtakes that has food you can buy for your dorm or quick snacks to buy during the day. The food can get somewhat boring, though, because the same restaurants are offered throughout the year. To challenge that, there is one restaurant, Food Bar, that changes it's cuisine monthly. Rating of the dining really depends on each person's preferences.
Dorm Life The residential assistants have floor parties where there's usually free good and games, so you can get to know your neighbors. The dorms are super nice, even underclassmen dorms.
Academic Rigor The rigor of academics depends on your major and your professor. A part of being involved on campus includes getting to know people who are the same major as you. You will have study sessions and tutoring sessions with these people. Studying in college is not the same as high school; you CANNOT wait until the last minute. Study EVERY day. Utilize your professors' office times. Take advantage of and and all the help you can get. In doing this, the academics are challenging, but you can conquer it all!
Tips for prospective students Apply for Razor's Edge. Go Greek. Join Super Sharks. Get involved with SGA. Join every club that you are interested in at some point in your college career. Most of all, get to know your professors. If you give them a few minutes of your time or even just shake their hand after class and thank them, they will support you and encourage you. That's something that you will make an impact on your life and in your career. Also, learn to manage your time effectively, and use it all up!
In three sentences Nova Southeastern is a large community-based school. So if you are looking to be a part of something, this school is A+. Beside of that, the professors all have PhDs and are some of the most amazing people who will make a huge impact in your life.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Ã?ampus is loaded with Public Safety and County Police. You won't ever feel unsafe!
Greek Life There are plenty of sororities and fraternities on campus. All though there are no houses, they are definitely represented. From service to social, there's a fraternity for anyones interest.
Clubs and Activities Plenty of student-led groups and opportunities for becoming an officer. The students are very involved and they care about each other.
Great for these types of students Social, driven, greek.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Every Thursday we have a party in the middle of the University Center (near the food court) during lunch time. It's pretty fun.
Bang for the buck NSU is there to help you, and the small class sizes are the best part. Other than that they don't go out of their way for much. The resources are there, but you have to go a bit out of your way to make it happen.
What to do for fun So close to Fort Lauderdale and Miami, there is something for everyone. Beaches, nightlife, arts and entertainment. You are never going to bored - as long as you have a car.
Food and Dining They are trying to change things, but I don't like most of the food. There is Subway, Denny's, Food Bar (which is pretty good), Chicken Grill, Greens etc (salads, good food), and a smoothie place. Lacking the best hours, but they give you food.
Dorm Life It's great living in the dorms. Everyone is so close and you are so close to everything. Only thing is that there is a lot of security, so don't expect to get away with much.
Academic Rigor They don't go easy on you, but don't expect to kill yourself. The student body is somewhat small, so you get to make a lot of friends and everyone is very helpful towards each other. Your peers won't let you fail.
Tips for prospective students Make sure that NSU offers everything that you are interested in.
In three sentences Beautiful campus with small class sizes and a student population that is just the right size. Getting to know your professors is an advantage of this university, because there are many opportunities for research. Located in Fort Lauderdale, 20 minutes from Miami, the campus is quiet, but not far away is a different world.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Excellent.......the campus is patrolled 24-7 by the campus safety affectionately called NOVA Alert. At nights there are at least 2 police officers in vehicle located in the parking lots of the residence halls. Quick response to any calls are definitely top priority on our campus. To enter any of the residence halls you have to have an access card to get into the parking lot, and also to get into the building itself. The entire University is also patrolled 24 hrs by Nova Alert.
Greek Life Numerous fraternities and sororities, too much to mention here. There are service fraternities, professional fraternities ( which I am a part of), honor fraternities ( i am a part of also) and just regular fraternities for fun.
Clubs and Activities Again there are numerous opportunities for students to get engaged on campus. These clubs not only engage in opportunities for fun, but also provide an opportunity to develop future leaders for society. These clubs also help to give back to the community by volunteering. There is a club and an activity for everyone....from Caribbean students, music lovers, science lovers, marine lovers, whatever your niche....you will find an activity to keep you occupied.
Great for these types of students Students interested in the health field...this is definitely the place to be as we have a health professionals division.... If you like golf, were very good at it..We¢ve been winning for many years now... If you like diversity, you'll love this environment.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have an annual boat race, where students make boats and compete against each other .... We support breast cancer awareness and many other health related activities...so we have many walks and sporting events that raise money for these campaigns
Bang for the buck Just some tips..... always talk and engage with your professors..... This is a great place to build networks..... and lifelong friendships
What to do for fun Beach, beach, beach.... tan, tan, tan....lol. But seriously that's the beauty about our location. The university is about 10 min from the beach so its easy access. Fishing is also an option as you can go on the pier or go out on a boat. In addition, we about 20 mins from Fort Lauderdale which has many cultural histories, you can go on tours along the river walk. There are numerous shopping malls located 10-15 min away. Movies, clubs, parties, whatever you like it¢s no more than 10-15 minutes away. If your into sports, we got soccer fields, basketball courts, quash, and numerous more. Miami Beach is located about 30 mins so fun is just around the corner.
Food and Dining There is sooo much to choose from. Whether you want to have campus dining or eating out; it¢s all available within a 10 mile radius. Too much to mention here.....
Dorm Life Dorm life is great here; I actually live in one of the apartments. There are 6 different residencies where you can reside, including a freshman hall and also a graduate student hall. The buildings are well equipped to facilitate student life and great experiences. I have met most of my friends that I now have on these graduate halls. The RA staff (which I am apart of) are fully trained to help make your experience a memorable one.
Academic Rigor Well of course academics is number one. Here at Nova Southeastern there are qualified professors and tutors that are trained and certified to teach and mentor in whatever academic areas that are available. The tip is to try and not get behind in your school work, and seek help as soon as you realize that you need it. Most of the teaching done here is supplemented by real life experiences which makes it more understandable.
Tips for prospective students Most professors have an open-door policy and are very helpful. If you need that one -one tutoring, we have an excellent tutoring center available. If you¢re a work-out fanatic you will absolutely love our gym. We also have rock-climbing and many schedule fitness classes on a daily basis to suit your schedule. The location of the University is perfect, easy to get to the malls for shopping; Wal-Mart is located down the street. There are easy access to supermarkets, post office, movie theaters and many more. The University is diverse so you will meet people from all walks of life. If you¢re shy, this is a great place to get involve, build your resume and have fun while doing it.
In three sentences Nova Southeastern University is a dynamic and diverse learning environment that is student-centered and catered to providing students with high quality education. The University is technologically driven and the staff in each discipline are highly trained and equipped to provide hands-on experience to facilitate student engagement and learning. The University is aesthetically beautiful and provides many amenities that cater to student life such as, a well equipped gym, basketball courts, swimming pools, soccer fields and many more student oriented activities that gives students a chance to grow and become leaders in society.

Clubs and Activities Sea Thursday during lunch time is the best way to meet with all the different clubs and fraternities/sororities being hosted to find one that's the best fit for you.
Great for these types of students That's the thing, NSU is great for every type of student. Everyone has something to gain by attending this University.
What to do for fun The soul purpose of the Flight Deck is for entertainment, with a couple pool tables and space to sit down and watch TV or listen to music. But naturally, I'm all over campus. The main campus holds the biggest library in Florida, so there's always some place to study or just get quiet time. The gym has 3 floors with all the latest equipment to get a full workout. The buildings are very convenient to just sit down anywhere for a second to get some work done or hang around until class. Take your pick!
Food and Dining On top of the occasional on-campus events with free food, there are various restaurants in the pit, from Denny's to Subways, so you have a choice. This year they added Food Bar, which made foods of different cultures, including Italian, Asian, Caribbean, etc. Or you can live the healthy lifestyle at Greens. Prices are fair.
Dorm Life I am a commuter student.
Academic Rigor College is meant to prepare you for graduate school as well as life in the real world. The work load at NSU can get complex, but with determination it is manageable. The teachers dedicate office hours where students can have a 1-on-1 session to better comprehend the material or get homework help.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you're ready to learn, as those who put the true effort in see the results. Also, join in the campus events and the clubs, they are great ways to meet and interact with other students.
In three sentences NSU is one of the best schools in all of Florida! Food and Dining I can only speak for the SECs, which do not have campus dining.
Dorm Life I can't rate this as I don't stay on campus.
Academic Rigor This is my second graduate degree and I'm working much harder this time around. The faculty challenge each of us individually and don't let us settle into a comfort zone. I will be so much better for it.
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to ask questions or to ask for help. If you take classes at the student centers, you can form study groups and the SEC will give you funds for study parties! Get involved with your SGA and make a difference.
In three sentences The faculty truly care about student success! They are innovative and we have the latest equipment and supplies. While the education is very challenging, I'm learning much more than I thought I would and love every minute!

Greek Life I do not know any national sororities, but I would like to be involved.
Clubs and Activities Swimming is the most important activity I like to do. I like French club, and maybe even to travel to France.
Great for these types of students I think I am a good candidate for NOVA University.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus They mark the side walk with clubs and sororities.
Bang for the buck Their academic programs come first before any sports. Sports are rated very high with the academics.
What to do for fun I saw a pool to lifeguard, teach swim lessons. They also had sororities, and other clubs on campus.
Food and Dining They have good variety of food and dining. They have store very close to campus.
Dorm Life I saw the dorm room, they are clean. The atmosphere in the dorms looks like they would be a lot of fun.

Dorm Life Not living in the dorms. From what I saw they are very nice with each room having its own bathroom.
Academic Rigor Don't expect to spend all your time on the beach. You are expected to attend classes. You are also expected to your assignments.

Categories Comments Campus Safety THere is always students getting their car broken into and robbed at Nova Southeastern University.
Bang for the buck You are definetly not getting what you pay for
What to do for fun There really isn't many activities to be involved or at least from what I am aware of coming from a nursing student at Nova Southeastern University. Students in my program don't really care to be involved.
Food and Dining The food and dining is also very expensive and is not that great.
Dorm Life I don't live in dorm but I heard it is average and very expensive.
Academic Rigor The nursing program is very rigor. Expect to spend many hours learning on your own because the professors don't know how to teach.
Tips for prospective students Look into other schools first before going to Nova Southeastern University.
In three sentences I feel like Nova Southeastern University is more concerned about the student's money than their education. Administration is very unorganized and the education is not excellent. I had amazing professors my first year of nursing school and learned a lot during that time, but it has all gone down hill from then. I am currently in my last year of nursing school and I am very unsatisfied with the education provided.

Categories Comments Campus Safety If you are worried about safety, don't be. Security is around all the time and everywhere. With such a small campus there is no way nothing bad will be able to happen. There are emergency posts every few steps away to call for help.
Bang for the buck Look in to renting books online rather then purchasing books from the bookstore. Also buy books online if you are going to use them for more then one semester. Rent books online that you will probably just use for one class and never use again.
What to do for fun The RexPlex is the place to be for fun, there are always exercise classes daily and hourly. The basketball and volleyball courts are fun to just watch or even participate. The gym is probably the nicest gym in the area and it is all included as part of your tuition.
Food and Dining Food and dining is decent at nova, nothing too extreme but nothing too plain either. Subway and Dennys is always a good place to eat as well as starbucks for a late night drink.
Dorm Life Life in the dorms can essentially hurt you or help you. There are a lot of events that occur on school grounds. There will also be a lot of pressure on you from being around your friends at all times rather then your family back at home. Make the right choices when you stay on campus because each choice can drastically affect your stay at Nova Southeastern University. 4 years is a long time.
Academic Rigor Education at NSU is great, as long as you select the right classes that fit your schedule and times. Every professor is a good professor at nova, but choosing the right professor that fits your educational learning techniques is key to doing well. Some professors teaching style might best fit your style of learning more then others. Ask a professor if it is okay if you can sit in on one of their classes just to experience the professor.
Tips for prospective students My first tip is do not be afraid to ask questions, ask your advisor why do you exactly need this class? Why do you have to take this class and does it count towards your major? Sometimes advisers will advise you to take certain classes that are just a waste of time and money. Do not be afraid to explain your situation to your advisers and financial aid officers. If something tragic has happened,, let them know they can help you out with classes and financial aid. Be polite to any staff member, they are there at the school to help you not tragically destroy you. NSU does a great job with education but it does not help you too much with financial aid. If you can afford this school for 4 straight years then by all means come and enjoy.
In three sentences NSU is a great school with a friendly students and professors. The campus is beautiful and the education curriculum is standard. If you can afford NSU then come to this school but this school's tuition does get pretty pricey, especially over the tuition increases each year.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus is always patrolled either by public safety or the Davie police. All dorm buildings require students to scan in to make sure only residents enter. Guest must be signed in dorms and parking lots all have to be scanned into.
Greek Life On campus we have some Panhellenic council sororities and IFC frats, Divine Nine, Latin based fraternities and sororities. Along with social sororities and fraternities there are academic ones as well.
Clubs and Activities There are about 100 different clubs and organizations so everyone on campus is sure to find a fit.
Great for these types of students Any one.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus During homecoming week organizations build rafts and have to make it all the way across and back the gold circle lake. It's a sight to see when some rafts tip over. Also their is a block painting party to decorate the path to the Parker building.
Bang for the buck Make sure you try to take advantage of all the student services offered. Attend all school events a part of our tuition is geared toward them, use all $75 dollars for printing throughout the year(vor it goes to waste). Use the free tutoring if having trouble in classes as well as the 10 free psychology sessions. Gym is free for all NSU students and the library study rooms too.
What to do for fun Leisure pool Olympic pool and diving board Rock climbing in recplex Two indoor basketball courts one outdoor court recplex Cinema Tuesdays sharkapalooza Fashion Shows Pool parties Sorority/ fraternity events Sea Tuesday Community service trips Homecoming Raft races Water works
Food and Dining The school has major food chains on campus so you don't have to worry about not liking buffet styled food. 24 hour starbucks during the school year!!
Dorm Life All dorms are well kept and clean. Goodwin which is the freshman dorm are double occupancy dorms with a bathroom in each room. Commons is a four room suite with two bathrooms. This building is the newest dorm on campus. Ffv are the oldest dorms on campus but are apartment styled so is Clc. Both of these were just renovated in summer 2012. All dorms are no more then five mins from classes on the main campus.
Tips for prospective students Come with an open mind set. Don't assume this is like a large university with events everyday. Great place to meet people all over the world. School provides 24 hour University Center to ensure your studies get done. When not in class take time and enjoy the leisure pool. Always attend school events it what helps build the college experience. Make the most out of your time at NSU the four years fly by.
In three sentences NSU is a small private school geared toward providing students with a very personal experience. It has tons of great athletic programs and growing school spirit. Very welcoming and always open for new ideas.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Excellent. Campus constantly being patrolled by campus security. At nights multiple police patrol cars are located on campus. Its a relatively safe campus.
Greek Life Multiple Greek organizations.... fraternities and sororities. Service fraternities, professional fraternities, merit-based fraternities and much more
Clubs and Activities Numerous clubs ranging from religious clubs to sports clubs to just clubs where you hang out. There is something for everyone.
Great for these types of students Geeks and lovers of anime.....there are groups that meet and go to anime conventions... Fitness lovers......multiple fitness classes each day includes zumba and spinning.... the state of the art gym and swimming pool athletic.....indoor/outdoor basketball courts, squash, soccer fields etc nature lover....medicinal and healing garden religious..... multiple religious clubs
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Annual boat race, where teams get together to build a boat and race each other at the pond...fun stuff.
Bang for the buck Its worth it, just make sure to take advantage of all the University has to offer, after all you paid for it.
What to do for fun The gym is awesome....Beautiful swimming pool, soccer fields ... Always some activity going on in the University Center. Zumba and fitness classes each day. Different clubs having various programs. There is something for everyone.
Food and Dining There are multiple locations to choose from with different varieties of food depending on your taste. The hours of operation are also great if you decide you need to be on campus late.
Dorm Life I live in the apartments on campus, I love it... I have my own space, it is quite and I meet lots of people from different cultures and backgrounds. Living on campus makes everything accessible such as the University amenities, food, classes etc. You can get that extra 30 min of sleep
Academic Rigor Depends on the course you are pursuing. For the health professions division of course you would expect to do a lot of work. However your professors are very helpful and they have an open door policy. For other regular programs, again it depends on if your part-time or full time.
Tips for prospective students Seek out scholarships for the prospective program you desire to pursue. Engage with your professors. Make new friends. Always seek new opportunities to excel. Network with fellow students who are in the profession that you desire to pursue. Take advantage of the Universities resources such as the Library, gym, swimming pool etc. Have fun...

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Tuition isn't cheap because it is a private institution. But if you like to be involved in your school, you will get a lot more individual interaction with faculty than you would in a larger University.
What to do for fun The campus is always flurrying with activity, but there are parks, shopping, restaurants within walking distance. The beach is about 10 miles from campus. For nightlife many go to downtown Fort Lauderdale, The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, and South Beach.
Food and Dining There is a Subway, Papa John's, Einstein's and Starbucks on campus. Healthier dining options should be added.
Dorm Life There are brand new residence halls and the older residence halls are being completely renovated and will be finished by Fall 2012. The shuttle system is good, but could be improved.
Academic Rigor Because NSU is still young, they still need to raise the bar in this area, especially in the undergraduate program. The Department of Research and Technology Transfer was established about 3 years ago, so plans for expansion in research and technology are in place and already making steady progress.
Tips for prospective students Anyone interested in taking classes here should come spend a day visiting the beautiful campus in Davie and visit the program office of the area you might be interested. Ask to speak to faculty members, talk to students, and visit the library and Don Taft University center. The only way to see if this is the right place for you is to get a feel for the atmosphere.
In three sentences Nova Southeastern University is a young university but is rapidly expanding in the areas of academics, research, and technology. Their undergraduate courses offer small class size which allows for more one on one student/teacher interaction. If you're looking for a small college atmosphere, but with all the opportunities provided by a larger university such as clubs, organizations, research opportunities, and distinguished faculty, this might be the place for you.

Tips for prospective students Be sure that your admissions advisor understands what you are asking of them. Sometimes they may mislead you, but it may not be their mistake.
In three sentences Other than the tuition increase, it has been a fairly decent place to attend online classes. Great for these types of students Focused Determined Ready for the challage
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Every year we have a competition to make a paper sail boat to sail across the river and to see whose will last the longest or get the furthest. Its a very unusual, but quite a marvelous event. Another would be a Day for Children, where a bunch of students get together to give children check ups, games, fun, and enjoyment. Its a wonderful event.
What to do for fun We have a wonderful double story gym with 2 huge basketball gyms! Not to mention an on-site pool and sauna and tennis courts. Also in the university center we have a nice hangout place called the flight deck where we can play pool, watch the foot ball game, and just have some fun :)
Food and Dining Nova offers a great variety of fresh daily food! I absolutely love the Don Taft University center and its food court. They always provide good, fresh variety of foods.
Dorm Life I was actually a commuter, so dorm life is a veil to me. But i can tell you that commuting wasn't all that bad. I lived about 10 mins away from Nova at my house with my family. It was not a problem at all to wake up a few minutes before class and get there on time, and have enough time to hang out with the family as well. People make it sound so hard.
Academic Rigor The classrooms size at NSU constitutes a decent amount of classmates with not to many students. This allows the professors to focus on each and every student and help them succeed. Personally, i admired the academic rigor here at nova, they helped me prepare to go further. Prepare to Learn.
Tips for prospective students Don't ever aim for less in the beginning, that's when the race begins to the finish line. Take your time at college as a chance to excel to your greatest abilities. Take the chance and do something with it, make it happen. It's really just that easy, if you want it, reach for it, and catch it. So continue learning, and don't give up.
In three sentences Nova Southeastern university provided an exceptional learning experience for me as a student here for 2 years in the undergraduate program. With a qualified staff and a comforting environment, I was able to maximize my learning abilities. Not only does is offer students experienced professors that we can interact with individually, and also provides the latest technology and facilities for all students to use towards their success.

Dorm Life Because I am taking online courses, I can only surmise through pictures and brochures what dorm life appears to be. On this basis, I would rate it as A.
Academic Rigor A- moderately hard. I believe the course work is interesting, not too rigorous, but enough to keep you on your toes. I would rate the academic coursework as being moderately hard.
Tips for prospective students Do your homework, study, and do ask for input from classmates,as well as professors, and you'll find you succeed.l
In three sentences I like the professionalism, yet conviviality of the professors and the staff. I believe the education is really well rounded. The online courses I am currently taking are convenient and well planned. I would highly recommend Nova of Southeastern for its ABA program.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Never heard of any negativity on campus.
Greek Life Greek life is really a sibling-hood. The sense of community and belonging is strong. Greeks watch out for each other and help each other maintain grades and are very active in the community. They also socialize with non-greeks, so they're not the usual stuck-up kids.
Clubs and Activities There are so many ways to be involved- just take a leap!
Great for these types of students Great for students who are down to earth and like to be involved or need a little push to be involved on campus- there are many ways to get active in the community! There are many opportunities even for commuters.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a vault that the school will open years from now. What's in it? Only the founders know. This is located in the university building, also where the gym (treadmills overlook the weight room;) and the cafeteria are. In the middle of the cafe, there is a beautiful fish tank.
Bang for the buck The total cost is about $41,000/year. I had a high GPA and applied for many scholarships, and only received less than half of the cost in financial aid.
What to do for fun There are a ton of ways to be involved on campus and there's always something fun around the corner. The campus an interactive and friendly place.
Food and Dining There are many yummy and healthy choices to avoid those freshman 15!
Dorm Life The dorms have private bathrooms, nice closets, and a wall area that's like a kitchen. It's set up like a hotel room.
Academic Rigor Most of the student body is biology majors, so everyone on campus is pretty serious about their course work. I like how we get the teaching material before class so we can review it before class and have an idea of what the prof is going to teach.
Tips for prospective students Definitely visit campus before accepting admission to any university, even if you've had your heart stuck on one university since you were little. Campus visits really are dealbreakers- the campus is where you're going to spend a lot of time over the next few years! Go to ratemyprofessor.com before choosing classes- & sign up early before the class of your choice fills up!
In three sentences The campus is spacious and beautiful. There are many places to relax or study outside peacefully. This may sound nerdy, but the library is the best building!

Categories Comments Campus Safety I only stay in the healthcare corner of campus, but it appears to be very safe.
Bang for the buck I am from out of state, so the tuition was cheaper than similar programs where I'm from.
Food and Dining Limited options in the healthcare building.
Dorm Life I did not live in the dorms, but the graduate school dorms were beautiful. The pool is a resort-style pool with a waterfall.
Tips for prospective students If going into a structured program (such as a graduate program where you are on a specific schedule), they have control over your schedule while you are there and will change things at last minute. I have heard this is common among other schools with similar programs, but it's best to know going into it that they control your schedule while you are there.
In three sentences NSU has a beautiful campus, and the gym is great. The main library is large, but the health sciences library is small for the number of students studying in that corner of the campus. Some professors are great and very knowledgeable, but some of the administration is unorganized.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very safe campus, never felt in danger or cautious anywhere on campus.
Greek Life Fraternities are not so great here. They are just a group of guys that do community service work and boring activities together, but don't incorporate much fun into their bonding time personally.
Great for these types of students Biology majors whose parents can afford for you to attend this university and that would like the thought of living in south Florida.
What to do for fun It's south Florida, so the night life and the beaches are amazing there. The shopping centers and malls are also some of the best I have ever seen.
Food and Dining The meal plans are actually a rip-off. They give you $2800 on a card that you can only spend in their dining areas, which consists of over-priced food and allows you to run out months before the end of the semester, unlike the other universities with a set amount of meals per weak. The food was somewhat decent though.
Dorm Life The dorms are extremely beautiful and are one of the best dorms I have seen in comparison to the other universities I have visited. They are quite spacious and well-maintained. Wasn't so fond of their RA's and staff.
Academic Rigor Pretty difficult class work for biology majors, but science classes are usually difficult at most universities. Nova was not an easy A, but it is definitely possible to be an outstanding student.
Tips for prospective students It's a very expensive school, since it is a private univeristy. I recommend that each prospective student looks into their financial aid and if they can afford it. 75% of the student body is a biology major who are on pre-med track for a doctoral degree, which can be very beneficial for other biology students to have friends to study with.
In three sentences Nova has an exquisite campus in one of the most beautiful areas of Florida. Every building is new and well-maintained with an amazing 3-story state of the art gym. Nova has plenty of school pride with an outstanding student body.

Greek Life Greek life is amazing! I am a sister of Sigma Delta Tau and I love it. When going Greek you open up opportunities to participate in community service, meet tons of new people, receive academic and financial help while having fun. when you go Greek you adopt a family of great people and events to help and participate in with them, not to mention all the money you can raise for people in need.
Clubs and Activities There is so much to involve yourself in and choose from. each organizations is beneficial and works with you and your class schedule.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The campus is huge and is involved with other schools close by. NSU hosts tons of concerts and events to raise money for organizations.
What to do for fun The gym offers so many amenities and classes, the pool is beautiful, there are tons of hangout spots like the flight deck, but the best part is all of the clubs and sports teams you can be a part of. at NSU everyone gets involved and gets to know each other.
Food and Dining NSU has a huge variety of places to eat, snack, or even hang out at. they cater to everyone's taste and food preference.
Dorm Life Dorms are clean, extremely safe, and everyone is so pleasant to be around.
Academic Rigor The classes are enjoyable, the professors are proficient in their academic subjects, and the resources are so helpful.
Tips for prospective students Get involved in everything you can! It will make you're experience at NSU that much greater. Be ready for an environment that motivates and rewards students accomplishments.
In three sentences There are so many opportunities to join academic clubs, social organizations, and join groups for community service. Categories Comments Campus Safety If you're studying late and you're afraid to walk to you car- no worries- call the public safety number provided on campus and a uniformed public safety personnel will come within 2 minutes.
Bang for the buck Somewhat on the expensive side. On the other hand, there are A LOT of scholarships provided by Nova.
What to do for fun There are over 40 societies and clubs to join. There's the Recplex which conatains a gym, basketball courts and rock climbing.
Food and Dining In the health professions division, there is Papa John's, Subway and Shark dining. The latter provides food prepared by the school's kitchen. A great lunch can cost as much as $5 and that's with a drink. In addition to the great price and quality of food, there are secret codes posted on the university's website that gives you the opportunity to get $1 off your purchase once you tell it to the cashier at check out.
Dorm Life Rolling Hills graduate dorms are quiet and appropriate for studying. They are clean and the area coordinators are easily approachable and some even live on your floor-which makes it easier to request assistance if needed. For those that travel with a lot of suitcases- the dorms have small trolleys that facilitate you carrying you baggage- whether it is to the first or the 7th floor. There are school shuttles that can transport you to different locations on campus and each stop by the graduate and undergraduate dorms approximately every 15minutes.
Academic Rigor The curriculum challenges the student to not learn but be able to understand and apply concepts and theories. In the pharmacy school, most classes are application and practical based, whereby cases are done after covering the theory of the subject. No patient is an island or has a single disease state that's not affected or likely to be affected by personal and environmental conditions. The classes emphasise the importance of individualising therapy as each patient is different.
Tips for prospective students Get involved in your community. In the end,it's always good to show that you have given to your community and will continue to help.
In three sentences This institution is constantly evolving and thus meshes well with the concept that medicine is not and exact science. It's classes and professors are student oriented and most if not all the faculty is involved in research. This institution strives for students to be balanced leaders and scholars throughout their academic and professional years.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very safe, Blue light towers
Greek Life Very small...not well known...although the many people I knew who were involved in Greek Life were very close and enjoyed their experience
Clubs and Activities Clubs based on each Major and also other interests.
Great for these types of students Great for students wishing to pursue a degree in any type of science related field and business.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The NSU raft race!!! Each club is allowed to design there own boat( that hopefully floats) and race the boat in Gold Circle Lake around the Shark fin! A lot of fun. I was part of the Nature Club and won two years in a row! Prize money goes toward the club fund.
Bang for the buck For the type of one on one communication I had with professors it was worth the money. You are not just a number at Nova but a student with a name.
What to do for fun 20 minutes from the beach what else can I say! Downtown Fort Lauderdale is also a hot spot on the weekends.
Food and Dining This is where Nova needs a change....there is no cafeteria style dining but just areas to get food like subway, Dennys and Papa Johns. You are alloted an amount of money to spend at some of these places but it gets very old quickly.
Dorm Life This isn't a typically college. The doors are clean and most of them are new but it always felt like a bit of a ghost town because doors cannot stay open. Not much of a community atmosphere but having my own personal space was nice compared to the jail cell double room i shared at another college my freshman year. Also NO COMMUNITY BATHROOMS! :)
Academic Rigor Courses are very tough but professors are very helpful with great material
Tips for prospective students Do not come to this school expecting a typical college town. The on-campus population is VERY small. However get out and explore and you will find it has a lot to offer in the fun department :)
In three sentences I transferred to Nova my sophomore year and couldn't be more happy I did! For my major (Marine Biology) there is an endless supply of opportunities such as study abroad programs and hands-on labs like fishing a local pier to identify fish species you are learning in Ichthyology class and diving the reefs in the Florida Keys to identify coral. The school is taught by great and very helpful professors who genuinely care about your success.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Haven't felt unsafe at all at any time.
Greek Life Greek organizations are pretty involved on campus. If you are interested in joining a fraternity or sorority, choices are small but they are very involved.
Clubs and Activities Organizations are really the only things that keep the campus alive.
Great for these types of students Grad Students, Biology Majors
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Nothing out of the ordinary, pretty small campus.
Bang for the buck If you aren't going as a grad student or a Biology major you will pretty much be swept under the rug. As a sophomore at the school I've felt pretty underwhelmed by the school. Nova is a school purely for learning, not much else. If you're looking for something more than High School: Part 2, look elsewhere.
What to do for fun Not much to do on campus if you aren't part of one of the clubs or greek organization. It's very obvious that this is a commuter school as there isn't much to do if you live on campus.
Food and Dining Diverse choices, but it can still get old after a while. Off campus dining choices seem to remedy this.
Dorm Life Dorm life is kinda dull, as there isn't too much to do on campus.
Academic Rigor Small classes are a plus, however some of the professors seem to have no interest in teaching at all. Definitely do your research on each professor before choosing a class.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to work. Both in class and out. Classes can be rough. Outside of classes you should be prepared to take care of all of your registering and things yourself online. Academic Advisers take too long to do anything important. Also the school is very expensive, so you should be ready to be working a job as well to try to make ends meet if you aren't completely covered by scholarships.
In three sentences Classes are small. Teachers are hit-or-miss. Academic Advisers are not helpful at all.

Clubs and Activities There's a club for almost everything.
Bang for the buck State of the art gym, cool pool, freebies during SEA Thursdays, amazing staff, and events every week make every buck you spend count.
What to do for fun Join clubs, swim at the pool, play pool in the Flight Deck, or attend shows.
Food and Dining This is where it lacks. The UC food is cool, but too expensive. There are cool places around the school though.
Dorm Life There's always something going on in the UC and the dorms are pretty cool.
Academic Rigor Professors are very serious when it comes to academics. They want you to learn and their office hours are always a good way to ask what you have confusion about.
Tips for prospective students Join the Super Sharks program and earn 250 dollars for the bookstore after completing your first semester. Totally worth it!

Categories Comments Bang for the buck In my opinion, having to pay for my own education since district/school doesn't assist, NOVA costs too much for the quality of professors.
What to do for fun Who has time for fun?! The adjunct professors work you to death after you have a full day on the job. Fun comes between terms by getting caught up on the rest and visiting the places & people you don't see during the term.
Academic Rigor The full-time professors are awesome and treat you like a professional while the adjunct expect too much for graduate working students and don't communicate in a timely fashion. All in all my experience with NOVA is 3/5 stars or a C and I'm the one working my buns off and doing it pretty much on my own.
Tips for prospective students My tips would be 1.) if you don't have to take classes online don't because the professors don't get back with you in a timely fashion and expect too much. 2.) take classes on campus or video because the professors are generally better at expectations and communication for they are full-time. And 3.) research and get as much aid as you can because college online or on-campus is truly expensive and the financial aid doesn't help you, especially if you are a graduate student and online, with any financial assistance.
In three sentences At the Jacksonville Florida campus people are really friendly and extremely helpful. The offices in Ft. Lauderdale, especially Financial Aid, aren't really helpful and take awhile to return emails and phone calls. I think that the online professors forgot that we are working professionals and don't have lots of time for weekly projects and papers and take too long to get back or in touch with you.

Great for these types of students Nova caters to all students, but especially those working full-time and looking to earn their degree after hours.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are satellite campuses all over the state of FL and beyond. It's highly convenient.
Bang for the buck Nova is VERY expensive, so prepare yourself. At almost $1000 per credit hour in grad school, it would be wise to start saving in advance.
Food and Dining There are plenty of great food choices right across the street from the main campus.
Dorm Life I do not live on campus, so I am unfamiliar with dorm life.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to be on-line before midnight on the day registration opens. If you click your desired courses at 12 midnight EXACTLY, you might get in to the classes you need. If not, they usually accommodate, but it may take a while.

What to do for fun Spend time with family, exploring the outdoors, reading with my son.
Food and Dining No services at my site.
Dorm Life I live off campus
Academic Rigor Nova is extremely strict with Plagiarism and proper MLA/APA formatting.

Categories Comments Campus Safety They protect this school with their lives it seems, I mean they do a good job. They have gates security and police 24/7 and you can always use the public safety if you feel unsafe walking in the dark they give you a ride.
Greek Life Dont know much about the greeks since I just started here but they dont have greek housing.
Clubs and Activities They have a bunch of clubs that you can use to boost your resume and they tend to have something going on around campus like laser tag or a frisbee contest or something.
Great for these types of students Great for students who want a head start in their careers especially medical. They have great programs like dual enrollment, job shadowing and internships.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus They have a statue or some type of shrine that if a student walks around it or touches it that they get better grades on their test and exams.
What to do for fun Students are able to rock climb, go to gym, and swim. I've only been going here for a week and that's all I've really noticed that majority of students do besides party at some friends house off campus.
Food and Dining As I said before cafeteria isn't all that big so there is not a great deal to choose from, so students gain weight from the pizza and sandwiches. Technically same thing every other day.
Dorm Life I give them a 3 because they didn't even let me choose preferences for my kind of roommate so I ended up with a roommate that is completely opposite of me that enjoys drinking, staying out late, smoking and isn't all that clean as I am. I actually had to be switched from a previous roommate because they had placed me with someone who had beer in their fridge which was forbidden in the dorms. But I would say getting a single room would be better so sign up early for housing.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you have all your financial aid done before attending this institution. Try searching scholarships as well because your going to need them. Also I suggest getting a vehicle because if not you'll be quite bored and frustrated.
In three sentences The institution is expensive as well as small so it has small classes. It also doesn't have a big a cafeteria so not much to choose from to eat so gaining weight happens to majority of students. I've only been here a week so I can't really say I'm enjoying myself just yet.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There is always something going on at Nova, tonight is free movie night so they always have something planned.
Tips for prospective students Always go on school trips and if you know what you want to do then you do if you don't it isn't a big problem. Many students change there major more than once and at Nova there is a great variety for you to explore and choose!
In three sentences Nova is better than my other school in New York. The community is helpful and understanding. The environment makes you want to be in school and do great!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Nova Southeastern at any hour is extremely safe. Their are always security people around and the housing buildings always have security guards at the front desk.
Greek Life Personally I am not involved in Greek Life, but those involved really enjoy it, and are always busy with their sisters or brothers.
Clubs and Activities The clubs and activities need a bit of work at Nova Southeastern. The scheduling and activities often do not have a lot of people remaining interested after a certain number of weeks into the semester. A big issue is that the school spirit is lacking in the student body often because most of the population is commuters.
Great for these types of students Nova Southeastern is great for students who do not want to go to a party school, and want to focus on their studies. Also for shy individuals Nova is really a good choice because it is really small, and by the end of the first semester most fellow classmen you know. The school is really great for those who are from up north and want to escape the snow!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The school is extremely beautiful. The most neat place on campus is on the journey to the Parker Building there is a garden with a gazebo inside where you feel like you are in a private oasis.
Bang for the buck Nova Southeastern is an extremely pricey school. The campus is gorgeous, and the dorms are a lot bigger than most universities. The main complaints about Nova Southeastern is how the food plan works, and the lack of school spirit.
What to do for fun At Nova Southeastern students have a variety of clubs that they can join. The gym at Nova Southeastern is also great, and offers fun work out classes like zumba throughout the week. The outdoor pool is also a place to hang out and catch some sun. The nicest part of Nova Southeastern though is the location. The school is under an hour from Miami, and twenty minutes from Fort Lauderdale Beach.
Food and Dining Food and dining is the worst part about Nova Southeastern. Unlike many universities the school does not have a large dining room where you can eat all you want with just one swipe of your sharkcard. At Nova the food works just like a debit card at an expensive food court. The food gets old really fast, and your money goes quicker than you would ever imagine.
Dorm Life Living at Nova Southeastern is a lot of fun. Your friends are extremely close, and so are all your classes. The RA's are extremely helpful and allow adjusting to the university to be extremely easy. The only issues with dorm life are that not all roommates get along. It is best to set ground rules the first day. Communication and mutual respect must begin right away. Another issue with dorm life at Nova Southeastern is on the weekends the school is extremely quiet because a large population of the students are commuters.
Academic Rigor The school is very demanding when it comes to academics. Their are exams, homework, and projects. Although the work is challenging the school provides tutoring, and professors are always willing to work, and assist their students.
Tips for prospective students For prospective students considering attending Nova Southeastern University be ready to be disciplined. Nova Southeastern is not a party school, so if that is what you are looking for Nova may not be the school for you. You need to understand that the overall focus is mainly on academics rather than the social experience.
In three sentences Nova Southeastern is an A plus school due to its great professors, and variety of classes. All professors, administrators, and other faculty are extremely focused on allowing, and providing an environment where every student can reach their full academic potential. Nova Southeastern prepares, educates, and mentors students to be ready for their future careers, and lives once graduating from the university.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Study hard and do not let things distract you. Take in any opportunity that approaches your way and grasp it hard. Your grades are what are going to determine your life so do not let it slip away.
Bang for the buck Yes every buck you spend at Nova is definitely worth it. You get great amenities like the pool, gym, food, great spacious dorm rooms, and availability to many education resources for studying, research, or even just quiet time.
Am enjoying being here Yes! the atmosphere is wonderful and the weather is fantastic. Not only is the atmosphere outstanding but the people are friendly as well.
Am learning a lot Nova is a great place for education. It has almost every major possible and has awesome study resources to help any student who is struggling.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone who is dedicated and willing to provide the time and money for further education. You do not necessarily need to know your plan/major, but it does help. NSU is the type of university that is quick and to the point, they give you opportunities to get out of school as quick as possible, such as the Dual Admissions program---which basically ensures that your spot is being held at the medical school of your choice, so that you are not wait-listed. When i fist started college in August I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my future, I applied for the Nursing Program and got in... but my heart was not in that field. After speaking with my advisers and doing some research, I realized that i could do so much with a Psychology degree. I now hope to complete a four-year degree in psychology and then apply to Occupational therapy (OT) school.
Tips for prospective students Be aware that NSU holds higher standards for its students, therefore the grading scale is a bit different than some public universities. Basically my tips for anyone you is planning on attending ANY college is... * Time-management (do NOT overwhelm yourself) * Stay focused * and be prepared to learn ALOT! Future NSU students.... *same as above.... *always keep in mind that shark pride rules! *always maintain an open-mid *DON'T be afraid to ask questions... someone is always waiting to answer you!
Bang for the buck Basically, you pay for what you get! Yes tuition is a bit pricier than most other public universities, but the money is all worth it, as it is spent on you. In addition, NSU's financial aid office staff will often do their best to get you enough scholarships to pay for a majority of your tuition... this is especially helpful for in-state students, such as myself. There are also may opportunities to get free things, such as t-shirts (at almost every event), Food, vouchers for books....etc.
Am enjoying being here I am actually a current student at NSU. Although next term with only be my second semester, I feel as though NSU is my second home.Everyone is extremely helpful and friendly at NSU. Commuting back and forth, from school to home, I thought I was going to have a difficult time becoming involved; but there are clubs even for commuters. I have also taken part in the Art Sharks club, Student Success, Dual admissions and Super sharks! At first, I have to admit I was a bit scared about the transition from high school to college, but all worries were lifted once I started. Professors are willing to take the time to help you in anyway possible. Staff is always there to assist you. Also, there are tons of programs and opportunities to ask questions if you are confused about ANYTHING!
Am learning a lot Professors are very open-minded and willing to listen to any ideas students may have. The feeling of an NSU classroom is laid back and more interactive. Because of the small class sizes, ranging from 20-30 students, professors are able to communicate more easily with students and have more one on one relationships; they get to know each students strengths and weaknesses, allowing them to grade more efficiently and work with each individual. In addition NSU professors are well trained and are some of the top, well known professors... some of them even come from other universities to teach at NSU.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students i understand a good dentist graduated from here. however the dentist is very much concerned with money. bedside manner may not be the focus of training.
Tips for prospective students you can't get to know a professor beforehand. however, for traditional minorities this school may very well need some close examining! they are not up to speed on civil rights, the rights of gays and lesbians, and they don't follow through on harassment concerns.
Bang for the buck nova is not inexpensive. i learned a great deal. however it is the case that they have charged for a class where sexual harassment by a female instructor, of a gay male student, did occur.
Am enjoying being here caveat emptor the vast majority of instructors are fair and some are really bright. however the school is not fully aware of affirmative action, civil rights, and they sadly don't stand behind gay students to reflect current civil rights law.
Am learning a lot the vast majority of the instructors have been good and fair. there are occasionally bad instructors. i never thought i would be involved in a harassment situation, however, where a female instructor harassed a gay male student.

Am enjoying being here If you have the option, do not live on campus. There is nothing to do on the weekends here and the people are not very friendly. A car is a must! The dorms are nice compared to others colleges', though.
Am learning a lot The first year is all your common prerequisites so you will feel like you are doing a giant review of high school. The professors do not seem to know what they are doing and some lack a firm grasp of the English language which makes it difficult to learn from them.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Hard working, goal oriented-be excited about what you want to do, and you will have no trouble here.
Tips for prospective students If you want to pursue graduate studies at the Oceanographic Center (I'm a Master's student in Marine Biology), I suggest emailing professors you are interested in working with. They are really nice and almost all of them will respond back to you. Everyone I have met so far has been really patient and willing to talk to students about research projects and such. There are also lots of opportunities for undergraduate students to gain research experience in marine science for use in job prospects or to help jump start an interest in graduate studies.
Bang for the buck Initially, I was a little worried about the cost of attending Nova for graduate school. After taking a couple of classes however, it is clear to me that the amount I am paying is well worth it.
Am enjoying being here I LOVE being here.
Am learning a lot The instructors here are well versed in their research areas and are willing to work with students on problem areas.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you want to be successful, you will choose NSU for its long-term benefits of having graduated from a prestigious school. This school is mostly focused on mainly revolving around business and medicine.
Tips for prospective students Undergrads need to know that the classes tend to get repetitive and boring sometimes, but in the end it is worth the trouble.
Bang for the buck NSU has undergraduate AND graduate programs so that the prospective student can continue their degrees in the careers that they love! The gym is free for students, and every building on campus is relatively close by (within 10-15 minute walking distance). You get a great work out when traveling through campus. Your SharkID is also credited with $75 for use at the library to print out anything for only $0.10 per page, which is great because it lasts the entire year! Again, I give 4 stars because I believe my money (in addition to every other students' payment for JUST tuition) can be put to better use than the aforementioned.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy the scenery, and everyone who works in this school. Almost everyone is genuinely friendly, and seems to WANT to help newcomers especially. They try to make you feel right at home. The only reason I give 4 stars is because the campus gets a little boring. If you're enrolling because you think this will be a party school, then you are wrong.
Am learning a lot Every professor that I have had a class for has earned a degree higher than a Master's. This speaks for itself. The classes are engaging, and (most) of the professors truly care for their students. While they may be harsh on their grading, they are great people to work with. The classroom environment is always welcoming questions from students and healthy class discussions between teacher and students.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Out of state residents!!! Students should be hard working, driven, and has extra money to spend on tuition. If you are a sports major, this college is cheaper than Barry University by about $200 a credit hour and you do not have to fight Miami traffic.
Tips for prospective students Talk to your student adviser, they will literally help you with EVERYTHING. & DO NOT BUY THE BOOKS! 99% of the time you do not need them or the teacher will send you a power point with all of the notes from the chapters. The student center will let you check out the math books for free. Oh and the best tip is the $70 you have on your student ID (most do not know that you can print $.10 pages all year long with that $70!). If you are an out of state resident!!! $575/hr at FIU or $575/hr at Nova? If you go to FIU as an out of state resident, they will never consider you a resident (you have to leave for one year then go back). It is actually cheaper to go to Nova as an out of state resident and plus you have way less of a headache!
Bang for the buck If you have any problems with your account of question, call the school and they will immediately assist you with your problems (unlike public schools where they have too many students and no one knows the answer). Everything in this school is BRAND NEW; even the elevators glisten. New gym, huge library, etc. In my first semester, my professor recommended me for an internship (good luck seeing that happen at a public school). The classes are smaller (about 20-30 students), so you can appreciate the more one on one feel. Most teachers will respond to your questions within 24hours, and they know your name!!
Am enjoying being here This school has a clear cut agenda. You go in knowing EXACTLY what you need to take in order to graduate unlike FIU where you get to pick and then you realize you took the wrong ones.. then you realize you need to take all these extra tests, etc. The school is clean and staff is extremely helpful. You can not help but feel spoiled at this school. The scenery and environment is like staying at a 5 star hotel.
Am learning a lot Teachers hold higher degrees in their fields than at public universities. Most teachers hold a Masters or higher; a majority hold doctorates. This is my 2nd semester and I have noticed that each class seems to repeat a lot. Do not expect a lot of new information if you are in the business field. Most information I have received has been common sense or a repeat. This school is trying to get its accreditation up so expect easy classes to be HARD! Writing 2 papers 10-15 pages each class isn't uncommon. Expect to be graded hard for grammar and not so much the material you write. I have learned to be more focused. These teachers will not give you the easy way out and its almost impossible to get 100% on something. The grading scale is harder for 90% of the classes. You will not get a 4.0 credit for a class unless you have a 95% or higher etc..

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Since class sizes are small, it's great for students, who need extra attention.
Tips for prospective students Show up for class every session, so you don't miss out on any important information. They only allow so many absences, before they start deducting from your grade. Save your absences for absolute emergencies.
Bang for the buck The tuition is cheaper here, then some schools I have investigated.
Am enjoying being here It is so peaceful, and everyone is helpful. If you help with anything, just ask! One student in my logic class let be borrow her book over the weekend, so I could copy some chapters out of the book, and one copied a chapter for me.
Am learning a lot So far, the professors are great; they are helpful; they will go out of their way to help you. One of my professors let me borrow their book, to copy chapters out of it, so I could do my assigned reading, since I didn't have a book.
