for incoming students, pack and dress accordingly. the winter months bring very cold and high winds. if you're a commuter, keep things like a shovel, food, and blankets in your car incase you get stuck somewhere. use a planner as well, they are life savers during the week of finals when everything starts to come to a close.

For people from out of state (or just from outside the Northeast)... It gets very VERY cold in the winter time. Be prepared. Buy hats, gloves, boots, scarves, and most importantly a good winter jacket if you are from warmer states (Texas, North Carolina, etc) Yes, Canada is very close. Yes, you can drink at age 19 just over the boarder from school. NO you cannot drink in Canada and come back jacked up. You cannot come back over the boarder intoxicated and underage by U.S. Standards, it is a crime. Be careful. Also just for general trips to Canada, have a passport or if you're from NY... an enhanced ID.
