    Campus Safety

Campus police surround the area and people don't mess with cadets for the most part.

    Greek Life

    Nonexistent.

    Clubs and Activities

Lots of clubs and activities for college and high school students. Not much club time however.

Great for these types of students

People who want to become officers in the U.S military, especially for aspiring Army officers. People who want a great education at an affordable cost.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Many traditions such as the RAT walk and other humiliating techniques to develop stress tolerating individuals. Sometimes the lifestyle can be bothersome but it makes people more precise, efficient and understanding.

    Bang for the buck

This is hands down the most affordable military school education in the United States. Out of state rates are extremely cheap in proportion to other military schools and in-state tuition is dirt cheap. A Lot of scholarship money is offered and the alumni are very generous.

    What to do for fun

Not much except for video games, socializing with other cadets, going off post. The town is small but the people are nice and there are plenty of restaurants.

    Food and Dining

Buffet system with a salad bar and decent options. The food can be a bit unhealthy sometimes but healthy options are always available. The food is okay.

    Dorm Life

The rooms are decent but the dorms lead directly to the outside. Males and females are separated and rules are strict. Most people have a roommate and must have their room clean and orderly.

    Academic Rigor

High school curriculum is top notch and offers small classes for college as well.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared for a sometimes bothersome lifestyle of developmental and experimental military customs. You will learn a lot about yourself at this school. The faculty is amazing and self improvement is noted at the Institute.

    In three sentences

Cheap school with a good education for high school and college. Pre-Med and Law programs. Early Commissioning Army ROTC program and small classes.

Great for these types of students

Great for high schoolers who need space from home, college students who wish to prep for an Academy, and people in New Mexico who qualify for the Legislative Scholarship.

    Tips for prospective students

Just last through the first RAT week. It gets a whole lot better, I promise. Once school starts, those scary old cadets will seem waaaay friendlier.

    Bang for the buck

Although NMMI was a great school for me, it is quite expensive. So expensive, in fact, that I could not return for my Senior year of high school. However, if you live in New Mexico, you may qualify for the Legislative Scholarship which makes tuition more affordable.

    Did enjoy being here

I loved being at NMMI. NMMI gave you a feeling of family; your troop was who you ate with, lived with, and mostly saw.

    Did learn a lot

NMMI taught me a lot of life skills- independence, self-motivation, self-confidence, etc. Note: I was a high school student here my Junior year. (NMMI is both a prep school for high schoolers and a Junior College)
