Michigan State's downtown part of campus consists of mostly restaurants, and for students 21 or above, there is only a couple bars and they're always overpacked during the school year. If you're living on-campus, you can partake in an intramural sport or attend one of the free events held by students part of the University Activities Board (UAB). If you're living off-campus and have a mode of transportation, hanging out with friends that are also living off-campus offers more options.

Frankly there aren't a whole lot of things to do here. For under 21, your best bet are dorm parties, tailgating, frat parties, going to see the movies, eating out, going shopping, exploring campus, going to UAB events, hanging out with friends. For over 21, all of the above in addition to going to the bars.

I am not your typical college student so my idea of fun is very different from the norm. On a warm, sunny day, I enjoy sitting down by the Cedar River, laying on the grass and listening to music. It is relaxing for me and being outdoors in nature is very calming. In the evening, I like to head over and watch whatever movie is playing that evening, complete with popcorn. Sounds boring from the usual college student, but I don't drink or party and I am focused on homework and getting my education.

The University Activities Board (UAB) provides a lot of fun events for students that occur almost daily to give students something to do around campus. They provide a wide variety activities ranging from movie nights to painting to even playing with therapy dogs! Around other areas of campus, you can spend your Saturday in Spartan Stadium in the student section during football games, or you can attend open skating at Munn Ice Arena on certain dates. Take a walk through the many gardens on campus, or take a walk along Grand River Ave to check out all the restaurants and shops. With a campus the size of MSU, there is always something to do.

Aside from being one of the Universities known for parting hard, we have two museums, an arcade, clubs, bars, malls, and plenty of activities to keep you entertained in the mean time.
