  • I am researching this school and have visited the campus

I am vegetarian and the dining hall had many tasty options for me. I visited campus on a Monday, and I was told that the dining hall usually offers extra vegetarian options for Meatless Monday (you can still get meat, if you want it), but there are always vegetarian and vegan options available. All of the food I tried was delicious and there were enough diverse food counters that I doubt one would get bored of eating the same thing.

The food was very good! It is a small school, so Mac only has about four dining options on-campus, but the Twin Cities are teeming with so much cultural food.

Macalester has an all you can eat buffet which is nice, but doesn't have much variety in the food that they offer.

Cafe Mac is a point of contention among Macalester students. Some love it, some hate it. The food is good and there is variety-- as long as you are a bit creative, you can have something different every day. If you are more picky, it may be a bit more difficult. But there are food options for vegans and vegetarians, those who are religious, dietary restrictions, and more.

The food here is pretty good and there are always options for students that are vegetarian and vegan. There are also other places on campus to eat besides the main cafeteria if you want something different. If you're interested in off-campus dining, there are plenty of restaurants around Macalester that have delicious food that isn't too pricey.

Cafe Mac is the best! They really invest in sustainable food, and cook it well. There are tons of options for vegans, vegetarians, gluten free and carnivores alike. There is a wealth of cafes and restaurants from thai to afghani around campus as well.

I've had food from different colleges and universities and I'd have to say that Mac has one of the best! I only gave it 4 stars because the food does start becoming repetitive.

Food is very good, especially if you are a vegan or a vegetarian. Cafeteria always has pasta, pizza, salad, fruit, burgers, Asian food, and international food options. Things do tend to cycle but overall quality of food is good.

If you have any dietary restrictions, Mac is very accomodating. There are always vegan and gluten-free options, and the catering staff is very accessible if you have further concerns. Don't go into school here expecting a diet of cheese pizza, mac&cheese, and ramen--Cafe Mac never serves it. Very nice selection of healthy foods, amazing salad bar (feta cheese and kalamata olive amazing!), wide variety of foods, and nice variation throughout the week. My only complaint would be about their policies surrounding the cafe. You aren't allowed to take food or coffee out of the Cafe (except pastries and fruit), and if you want to downsize your meal plan they don't offer you a lot of other options, but still charge you the same price. As far as I know, these things are being worked on at this time, however.

Because there is only one cafeteria on campus, students get tired of it easily. Although, it offers a lot of different options.
