i enjoyed my time at linfield but after my freshman year i transferred out for the following reasons. make sure you can live in a 'rural' environment. coming from the suburbs of a major city with a great public transportation system it was hard. the town has a bus system but it's not great and it's hard to get around mcminnville without a car. mcminnville is a town in the heart of wine country thus many older people going here to wine and dine. the downtown is quite cute when you first visit but gets tiring after a while and food downtown is quite expensive for a college student. they advertise not to far from portland, but it is hard to get to portland without a car because you can not rely on the public transportation system. you won't be going to portland a lot if you don' t have a car or have a friend with one. be prepared to walk a lot if you don't have a car. there is an albertsons, walgreens, roths, bi-mart, a small grocery downtown, and a few restaurants close to campus minus downtown. however, if you want to go to places such as walmart (much cheaper than walgreens), winco (cheap food at a good price), jc penny, joanns, etc. be prepared to walk 45+ minutes or take a taxi.
