Categories Comments Campus Safety Kent States Campus safety is excellent. The department patrols the parking lot, student lounge and hallways at every moment.
Great for these types of students This campus is great for anyone who likes small classes, understanding professors, moderate size building, and one on one time with all professors.
Food and Dining The Snack lounge has a variety of foods that fit everyone's likings. It is clean, neat, and cheap!
Academic Rigor Kent States Academic Rigor is excellent. It offers students with disabilities to have the same experience in the classrooms as the others.
Tips for prospective students DO NOT be afraid to ask questions about where a class may be, how to get a hold of an advisor, or where the snack corner is. Always come to class no later than 5 minutes before it starts, and never be afraid to stay after for questions that are important for the future. Most of all, have a great time, engage in social tables, and take advantage of the free food that the campus offers at the beginning of each semester and the end!
In three sentences This campus is full of nothing but overly helpful staff members, professors, advisors and maintenance employees. The security department is wondering and patrols the parking lot, lobby area and hall ways constantly. I have never felt so safe, knowledgeable, and comfortable in any school building.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Always do you homework no matter what even though that sounds obvious I kind of wish someone would have smacked me on the head and told me that!
In three sentences Kent State University at Salem is a great small college especially if you are an incoming freshman and maybe you want to transfer to a larger campus after. The professors are very educated and easy to talk to.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I find this campus to be very safe. They have security guards on campus. Being in a rural area there isn't much need to worry.
Great for these types of students This campus is great for students who don't like larger campuses. It is nice for those who like smaller, more personal classroom sizes.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I wouldn't call it unusual but there is a really nice pond on campus. It is very pretty. The one Writing teacher I had would take us out to write by the pond when the weather was nice.
Bang for the buck I think Kent State at Salem is worth the money you pay. It is reasonably priced and for the money you really can't beat it. I enjoy the campus a lot.
What to do for fun There is a park in the town of Salem. There is also a community center in the town of Salem and a gym. The community center even has a large indoor pool.
Food and Dining Monday through Thursday during lunch hours different places bring in food you can buy from them. This is convenient and not overly expensive either. Actually I would say their prices are reasonable. Other than this there are only vending machines on this campus.
Dorm Life There are no dorms at Kent Salem. Most of the students who go here generally live in the area. You could always rent an apartment (there are some right up the road) or a house in the town of Salem if you choose to go here.
Academic Rigor I would say academically Kent Salem is average when it comes to how hard the classes are. Some classes can be a little overwhelming but for the most part, they aren't too bad.
Tips for prospective students Check the college out for yourself. Smaller colleges aren't for everyone, but some people like myself love them. There are no restaurants on campus and there also aren't dorms like there are at larger colleges.
In three sentences I enjoy the small feel of Kent State Salem. It is easy to find your way around the school which I enjoy and find to be quite convenient since I dislike getting lost. The campus is nicely landscaped adding to the nice look and feel of the school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety During my stay, I almost always saw a campus security guard and we did not run into any safety issues while I was there.
Greek Life There is no Greek Life
Clubs and Activities No clubs or activities.
Great for these types of students Great for students who are looking for a cheap college with a friendly environment and lots of help from professors.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There was really nothing unusual about it.
Bang for the buck It was affordable, and I had a pretty good experience.
What to do for fun There is really no activities in Kent Salem for fun. However, there is a comfortable lounge where you can talk to friends, and a lovely grass area out back to lay in on hot days.
Food and Dining There is no cafeteria at Kent Salem, but rather vending machine food. If you want a hot meal, you either have to drive to Subway, which is closest by a few minutes, or drive ten minutes to others.
Dorm Life There is no dorm life at Kent Salem
Academic Rigor Kent Salem is great, but one of the challenges I personally faced was the Aleks program that was recently introduced. Its a learn by yourself program, so really ask the teacher every step of the way whats going on.
Tips for prospective students Go and talk to your teachers if your having problems. They do not get upset, or seem put out. They are very eager to help you understand what they are teaching.
In three sentences The staff at Kent Salem is always there to help you when you have problems with the coursework. The coursework is challenging, but Professors give their time to explain the work, and they really get to know their students. Kent Salem also has a very friendly environment from the staff and other students alike.

Categories Comments Campus Safety the campus is fairly safe. there is always at least one security guard on staff at all times.
Clubs and Activities except for student government(sgo) there is not much to be involved in unless you start a club or activity on your own.
Great for these types of students the east liverpool campus is perfect for students who like to, come, attend class, and go home. with little interaction with others. the salem campus is perfect for nursing students and medical majors, or horticulture students, but the other majors are pretty well exiled by the school system.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the salem campus has walking trails behind the school, but when it is cold or rainy there really isn't much to do. the only thing that takes place occasionally, is a good ol' snowball fight in the parking lot after a good hard snow during a class day.
Bang for the buck when it comes to the regional campuses salem and east liverpool really don't have much to offer. other then computer labs and class. there is nothing class to the campuses to offer the students a break from or between classes.
What to do for fun the salem regional campus used to have a gym where we would go and play basketball or dodge ball to relax, and let the brain recover in between classes. now they have replaced our gym with a nursing science wing so there is nothing for none medical majors to do, but sit in the lobby and wait for the next class to come.
Food and Dining around the regional campuses there is very little food available close to the campus. there are vending machines, but they are very unhealthy and get expensive.
Dorm Life i am not a dorm dweller as of this moment, but have many friends who are in ksu dorms, and i here time and time again, that dorms are nice, but tend to be hard to focus in do to excessive partying and noise.
Academic Rigor academically this campus is fairly intense on the amount of material they expect from each and every student regardless of status.
Tips for prospective students students should be prepared, to do leg work to get help with school work, and material. prospective students should do prep work on the classes they will be attending such as, who the professor is, how they teach, and what they will be expected to cover in the criteria.
In three sentences kent state university of salem ohio, is a very friendly country setting college campus. they do an ok job of advising student on classes needed and available for scheduling. classes are small and personal for the most part, making it easier to learn the material.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This is a great campus if you are not sure what you want to do. There are a lot of advisers that can guide you on the right track. Also it can be overwhelming going from high school to college and because it's a small campus, it's unlikely that you are unable to find a class room and I think it is an easier adjustment than some of the large campuses.
Tips for prospective students Ask somebody for help if you need it because there are many people willing to answer your questions and if they cannot answer it they normally know who can answer it.
Bang for the buck There are some scholarships available for certain majors and other. There are also payment plans if you are paying out of pocket.
Am enjoying being here It is a nice smaller campus.
Am learning a lot There are some great professors that are very knowledgeable and will help you when you need it.
