The campus at Hawaii Pacific University is not like many other schools; it is right between the free (up-and-coming urban) feeling Chinatown, and the hustle-and-bustle of the Honolulu business district, so be prepared for a city school. Stay on top of your degree plan and meet with your adviser regularly, as the school tends to go through a lot of changes, but the advisers are pretty good at being there for you whether is is for guidance or petitioning. The most important tip for students or prospective HPU students is: take advantage of where you are and the people around you! Hawaii is a very friendly place filled with many opportunities (that come through relationship-building), so network, network, network! We live in an expensive place, but that just means explore, find some friends, and share a living experience together. An education - or even a life - here is worth every penny.

Just because its Hawaii does not mean that its going to be sunny all the time. It does rain here, and once you are used to the weather it does get a little cold. SO pack a couple pairs of pants and a couple sweaters!

Tour the campus before starting classes, especially the downtown campus. It is in multiple buildings, some of which it is tricky to find the entrance to.If you want a private, nonreligion-based educational experience in paradise than HPU is definitely for you. because it is not a traditional campus, you are submersed in the real world, a handy transition although a difficult one. The Aloha spirit will see you through!
