The dorms are pretty cool. Not the cleanest or quietest, but there tends to be a lot of friendships formed in the dorms. There are shared lounges, some with kitchens…
While the dorms are not the most modern at Hampshire, the majority of students get singles which can be nice on cold winter nights when no one really wants to…
I would like to put it out there that the buildings on campus are extremely ugly. The architecture is clearly 1960s and the interiors are depressing and heinous. However, the…
There are dorms and apartment style housing complexes, both substance free and non substance free. Recycling is big here and lots of things are bio degradable. Energy saving lighting is…
There is always rice and bagels and the dining staff does their best to make a variety of foods, but typically it's pretty bland and there isn't much variety (very little meat, and what there is is flavorless). Always good desserts, but they go fast. There are other places to eat on campus but they aren't covered by meal plans.
Read Moreone star. food at hampshire is awful. go sign up for a umass class for long enough to transfer some of your meals there and then drop the class.
Read MoreExpensive but I always found something to eat, not sure about people with dietary restrictions though. I have a kitchen now, I didn't do this but if you can afford it I highly recommend getting a co-op from the farm. The dining commons uses all farm and local food I think. There are pick your own fields on the farm and apple trees all over campus in the fall which feels like a real luxury.
Read MoreThe food is ok. You don't always have to eat the cooked food (sometimes it's pretty bad). But there are very few options, and the food does get boring after a while.
Read MoreTheir new food provider is great. We have a large variety of choices: salad bar, sandwich bar, continental breakfast all day long, multitude of drinks... Their is also homemade food, aimed for comfort. A lot of the food is from the Farm, locally produced. All the vegetables are fresh and organic.
Read MoreThe food is a lot better than expected. As a freshman, I have unlimited meals at the dining hall. They do a very good job keeping it vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, etc... friendly. Everyday there is something new. Pizza is really good, but what I look forward to most is the stir-fry. It is available every single lunch and dinner.
Read MoreFood is pretty good, and any food not eaten is donated to local shelters and food pantries. That is totally cool.
Read MoreThe food is okay, but it is always there, and it is buffet style, which means as many servings as you need.
Read MoreThe food at Hampshire is pretty bad and there's only one dining hall which closes way too early and often leads to students getting hungry at 10pm with no options. The Bridge, the school's cafe, is better, but not that good. The food comes from Sodexo, a company that also provides food to prisons as well. However, Hampshire does have more vegan and vegetarian options than most other schools.
Read MoreThe dinning hall wasn't my favorite
Read MoreThere is no Greek life at Hampshire.
Read MoreIllegal in all the 5-colleges except UMass. We're pretty happy about it.
Read MoreNone. Because of where Hampshire is, there's no way you'll even run into people involved in Greek Life on campus.
Read MoreThis doesn't exist here.
Read MoreThere is no greek life on campus, which is actually something I find to be a positive aspect of Hampshire because we are all such different people that come together with no need for a greek life.
Read MoreNon-existent.
