Around Town

There are some cool niche groups there if you don't want to join a cult *ahem* I mean a frat/sorority.

There are always free fun events on campus, they have magic and comedian shows every other month or so. They also have a movie night every Thursday, I believe. The most fun you'll have, typically, is just with friends goofing off. You can drive down to Bristol and eat at Blackbird bakery, aka God's gift to earth. OR you can go to the willow tree a local coffee shop. There are plenty of places to play or listen to music (especially if you're a music major). I love thrifting/antique shopping and this area of TN has a plethora of places to do that. ( I found a brand new ukulele for only 4$ last week !!) I've lived here four years now and the longer I'm here the more fun and beauty I find in this area. Also, if you're into hiking you will LOVE it here. Tons of opportunity to find awesome swimming holes/waterfalls. ( check out devil's bathtub if you're extra adventurous.)

ETSU is in an awesome area to go hiking, have a night out in the downtown area close to campus, go bowling and even get involved with on-campus activities and ministries! There are so many options whether it be academic, ethnic/culture related, religious affiliated, Greek life, or to show pride in who you are!

Gaming

There are numerous activities available to attend on campus throughout each semester. We have a free concert each year and sports games available, like football, soccer, or basketball, which are all free for students. Each Thursday there is a farmers' market placed on the pridewalk with multiple venders and booths for students to enjoy.

etsu's campus is literally a ten minute walk from downtown, which has a bunch of different restaurant, bars, and hosts a bunch of different events. etsu is also a really great place to go if you're an outdoors-y person, because it's right at the base of some of the prettiest mountains in east tennessee.

There are many activities in the area to do, such as hiking, swimming, skiing, snowboarding, and running. There is plenty of historical places of significance to visit and learn about in this area. Night life, I am unsure I have not really gone out and played around with that aspect yet.

Johnson City has more to do than you'd expect, but if you really want to enjoy some concerts, it's a short drive to Asheville, NC.

There are tons of organizations to join on campus and they have many activities planned for the members. There are also clubs, shops and restaurants within walking distance from the campus. There is also a mall in town, and just off campus behind the apartment complex Buc Ridge (which is apart of ETSU) there are trails that go up the hills behind campus. The CPA (center for physical activity) also plans a lot of outdoor adventures that you can do, but you have to pay to be apart of most of them.
