Categories Comments Campus Safety Sioux Center is clam and safe community. At Dordt college there's campus security guards that are hardly ever called on.
Greek Life There is no Greek life at Dordt College that I am aware of.
Clubs and Activities At any college there will be clubs and activities. It's really what you make it to be. Each student has to apply their selves and join clubs.
Great for these types of students Students who are looking to grow in their faith, be challenged academically, and meet genuine people fit perfectly at Dordt.
Bang for the buck Dordt College is quite expensive, but totally worth it.
What to do for fun There is a game room, which has a bowling alley, pool table, and ping-pong table. There is also an inside pool and a very large recreational center.
Food and Dining Food ranges day-to-day. There are nights the foo is remarkably good and there are also those nights that you'll rather eat cereal.
Dorm Life Dorm life is not the best, but it works. Again, Its what you make from it. I bought a futon and arranged the room nicely. The Ra's are generally nice and very helpful.
Academic Rigor You will be challenged here. Professors will work with you, but you have to demonstrate effort. Homework is crucial and essays are a pain in the butt. At the end of the day, it's all worth it.
Tips for prospective students Most importantly, do not lose focus of your goals, find what motivates you before coming here, and be passionate in everything you do. Do not come here if you want to party every night, get drunk, and have sex. Come here to take care of business. This is not high school anymore. Come here to get a great education.
In three sentences Although Dordt College is for young students, it's a grown man's college. What i mean by that is; here at Dordt you will grow in every aspect in your life. Dordt College is one of the best colleges to grow in your faith, to be challenged academically, and to prepare to make a difference in the real world.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Dordt is in a small town that is relatively safe overall. Their has been a few minor theft incidents on campus.
Greek Life none
Clubs and Activities Most degrees offer clubs to join. Their are also clubs for service and outreach mission trips. Too many clubs to mention really, so basically, there is a club for almost any interest or activity.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Midnight donut runs to the local bakery. WOW (Week of Welcome) for all incoming freshman and transfer students which helps students get acquainted. The Grille is a spacious facility for students to meet on campus.
Bang for the buck As a private college, Dordt is more expensive than state schools but also brags a high job placement rate upon graduation.
What to do for fun The REC center is open until late so students can play sports or exercise. Dordt has several competitive sports teams that are fun to watch. The local bakery is open all night so many students go on midnight donut runs. Dordt competes with Northwestern College in Orange City in a musical talent show (NCDC) that is very entertaining which usually includes a guest celebrity judge. There are also local coffee shops where students meet to relax or do homework. There is a game room in the basement of the campus center which includes a bowling alley, ping pong, pool and foosball tables along with many board and card games and room for students to hang out.
Food and Dining Dordt changed their food service provider this year and it has been an improvement. They offer more healthy choices for meals and the food tastes better than last year
Dorm Life Dorm life is part of what makes Dordt College a close, caring campus. All students (accept any married students or local commuters) are required to live on campus.
Academic Rigor Academics at Dordt are challenging but achievable with good class attendance and help through peers, study groups and professors.
Tips for prospective students My advice to prospective students is to get involved quickly in campus life, take advantage of free workshops and speakers and attend chapel and praise and worship sessions to make for a well-rounded college experience.
In three sentences Dordt has a pretty campus nestled in a caring Christian community. Dordt continues to make improvements both on class room buildings and campus asthetics. The professor to student ratio is approx. 1:20 which makes it easier to get one on one help if needed.

Categories Comments Campus Safety It is located in small town Iowa, so there is very little threat to your safety.
What to do for fun Right across the street is the All Seasons Center, where you can ice skate or swim, both for free. There are many sporting events to go to, where you can show off your Dordt pride. There is a late night doughnut shop in an adjacent town, which is a popular place on the weekend.
Food and Dining Many days, the food is good. And if none of the hot options look good, the sandwich bar is always open!
Dorm Life Dorm life is amazing! There are many different activities to do with your dorm and with your wing, plus there are activities with the dorms of the opposite gender as well.
Academic Rigor There are some easy classes, but also some more difficult classes. It is recommended that, for every hour spent in class, 2 hours should be spent outside of class studying.
Tips for prospective students Get good grades in order to receive more financial aid. This college is a small Christian college, so it is a rather expensive college to attend, but the education is worth it.
In three sentences Dordt College is an awesome school with many different majors and opportunities for most students. They have especially good education and nursing programs. It is also in small town Iowa, so it is a very safe school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Dordt is a very safe campus. There are not any issues that I know of. I was a bit iffy at first, because my sisters have stories about things that have happened at their colleges. But Dordt isn't anything like them. Campus security is always driving around to make sure things are safe. Nothing has happened that I know of.
Greek Life NONE
Clubs and Activities There are so many clubs on campus... All you have to do is show up for the meetings. There are also tons of activities going on. The website lists things that are happening on each day.
Great for these types of students It is great for everyone. Dordt is very welcoming to all people.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus odd location - the burning bush... It is a statue that looks like French fries. also Gift..... another weird statue...
Bang for the buck It is a private college. It is expensive. You have to get scholarships or lots of loans.
What to do for fun There is a movie theater in town. There is a nice bike trail. There is a park down the road with a swimming hole. The student symposium is always coming up with activities. Play board games or cards with friends...
Food and Dining Everyone says that the food is better than last year. It was great at the beginning of the semester, but lately it seems to be going downhill. It really needs some work... Otherwise it is hit and miss.
Dorm Life Dorm life is great. There is always stuff going on. The girls dorms have air-conditioning, so they are the best place to hang out for the first couple weeks of school. It can be really quite on the weekends, but there are always people around, you just have to get out a little bit.
Academic Rigor The academics are great. Nursing, Engineering, and Agriculture are the top three, not for sure which order. All of the sections are growing. The professors are very helpful, if you need help all you have to do is ask. There are also upperclassmen that tutor through the ASK center, it is free to students. It is a huge help. The classes are rather small. There is only one lecture hall that holds more than 100 students.
Tips for prospective students Girls, West Hall is great, it puts 3-4 girls into two rooms with the bathroom in between. A bathroom in your room is great, you have to clean it though. If you are more of a Social person then Covenant Hall is the better fit for you. Everyone always has their door open, and it has community bathrooms. Guys, yeah two words, no air-conditioning. At least until Junior or Senior year. It isn't really all that bad though. Everyone has fans. There was really only one week where it was crazy hot. There is usually a good breeze to keep it cool.
In three sentences I really love Dordt. It is a great atmosphere. It is a great Christian College. They are accepting of any Christians. They will accept atheist, but they wouldn't like it, because every class you hear about God. All of the classes are looking at things from a Christian perspective. Most the students come from Christian High Schools, but there are many from Publics schools. I myself came from a public high school. Dordt has opened my eyes to so many things. I have learned so much and I am not even through the first semester.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Dordt College has many activities available every week. Students each receive an email weekly that contains a list of daily activities that will occur. Multiple intramural sports, dances, and dorm activities are a few college-hosted activities, but there are other options as well. The college is near to the ice cream capitol of the world - the Blue Bunny headquarters! So ice cream is only a short trip away! Another popular option is a late-night doughnut run, where students drive to a bakery open past midnight that sells incredibly delicious doughnuts for only a dollar each!
Food and Dining The food and dining at Dordt College now exceeds everyone's expectations. The college recently upgraded services, so the food is exceptional quality without costing much more! With multiple selections of food at each meal and a large variety each week rather than a weekly meal schedule, the food and dining service ensures that students never get bored of the food.
Dorm Life Upon registering for Dordt College, each student fills out a questionnaire that aims to match students with possible room mates with whom they share common interests. Students usually end up rooming with another student who will become a long-time friend during their time at college. Dorm life is incredibly exciting, with activities hosted throughout each month within or between wings.
Academic Rigor With a great selection of majors, minors, and courses to take, Dordt College ensures that everyone gets the education they want, with flexibility for changes later. The professors are readily available for questions, and they give an appropriate amount of homework that assists in learning of material and development of skills, yet also leaves time for a social life. The great variety of classes at Dordt ensure that all students are well-rounded, knowledgeable individuals upon graduation.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Dordt College has a game room where there are cards, pool, bowling, ping pong tables, and other game activities. There is also an indoor swimming pool right across the campus in the All-Seasons Center, with slides, hot tubs, and other water activities. Also, there is a movie theater in town and the people offer to invite students to do fun stuff as well.
Food and Dining Breakfast is usually the best meal of the days, even though it is the same every day. The main lunch meals are okay, not really the greatest but there is an Ala Cart line if needed. Supper is a coin toss, there could be great supper meals and then some really bad ones.
Dorm Life Dorm life is great, the RA's are wonderful and they really want to get to know you. It can be noisy, but that is what is expected in every dorm life. There is also a lot of bible studies in the dorm's, which is a great way to get to know everyone one and make friends.
Academic Rigor Dordt College, is very high academic school and demands a lot of students. They set up a lot of tutors and appointments to help students achieve in their grades. To add on, they have certain GPA for students to stay in college activities.
Tips for prospective students One tip is that there are a lot of Christian elements in the school. Most of the core programs of Dordt, are Christian related subjects that the professors teach. As well, it is a high academic school, so there is a good amount of homework.
In three sentences It is a great college to learn and most importantly grow stronger spiritual in the Lord. The professors teaches students how to live in a secular world while still clinging on to their faith. Not only that, but mostly everyone is friendly and helpful.

What to do for fun Play cards? Check out the local coffee shop. Drive to Sioux Falls, SD.
Food and Dining Carrie foods cater's Dordt College. The food is of high quantity, but low quality. Frozen, fat filled, sodium rich foods won't fail to make your stomach church.
Dorm Life The resident assistants really engage in their hallmates. It's a fun time.
Academic Rigor Dordt really challeneges it's students. The professors are of mostly top-notch quality. They really care about and engage in their students.
Tips for prospective students Don't date before tri-state!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus is pretty safe. Anytime something happens the school handles it well. There is an overall low crime rate. Located in a small, dutch, Christian town which helps keep anyone on campus more at ease.
Great for these types of students Anyone that is willing to challenge themselves and get done what needs to be done.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There seems to be a tradition that on the first major snow fall the upper upperclassmen guys run around in their boxers late at night.
Bang for the buck My experience here has helped me grow already.
What to do for fun Hang out with friends. Find your future life partner. Go to the rec center or all seasons center (students get in free but rentals at all seasons center still come with a charge).
Food and Dining Decent food. College actually does cater out through same service that cooks in the dinning commons. Seems to get repetitive fairly quickly. Will take recipe suggestions for something new to cook.
Dorm Life Its a dorm. You get what you make of it. It is best to figure out who the nice RAs are and who are the strict ones. If you use your brain you will do fine. Buildings seem to keep most noise levels down so long as you keep your door closed when you want quiet.
Academic Rigor Classes look to challenge you on many levels. Best to know something about the subject going into the class (unless it specifically says it is an introduction to....). While academics can be challenging plenty of resources available to help you out.
Tips for prospective students Don't freak out about the sticker price, plenty of financial aid available for anyone.
In three sentences Great school that incorporates the Christian life with your studies. Easy to find and make new friends. Gives a challenging curricular experience.

Greek Life more like Dutch life hahha
Clubs and Activities Chorale is awesome! Also the Bible studies on campus are great! There are also mission trips like AMOR and PLIA during breaks that I have heard are an awesome experience.
Great for these types of students Anyone who is friendly, outgoing, not afraid to meet new people, ok with freezing cold weather at times, love small schools, can live in a very small town.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are lots of unusual traditions. Sophomores will drive Freshman or any new student to the secret spot. Students will decorate the statue infront of the classroom building. Dordt Walks are very common for couples on campus. Students will play campus golf on sunny days. There are MANY more as well.
Bang for the buck My experience here was definitely worth the money i spent
What to do for fun Sioux Center is a small town but people always know how to find fun things to do with their free time. It helps you to be more creative.
Food and Dining The food isn't the best.
Dorm Life Everyone is very outgoing and they make moving in as easy as possible. They also do a great job matching you up with the best roommates.
Academic Rigor It is a smaller school so they do not have as many connections to larger companies and organizations as would a large school. That is the only reason I left. Otherwise it is a great school, especially for Agriculture majors!
Tips for prospective students If you have any questions about anything be sure to call the school. They are always very helpful and also try to help as much as possible in the financial department as well. They make higher education much more affordable!
In three sentences I really enjoyed Dordt while I was a student here. The students and faculty were very welcoming and helpful. The community at Dordt College is very small and close knit.

Food and Dining Same stuff all the time. You start to get really creative towards the end of the year with all the hidden gems in the commons. A must try is a suicide (mix every drink together, including milk and coffee). Good times. Chef salad is my personal favorite and the BLTs are awesome.
Dorm Life Nice rooms and there are stack-able furniture so everyone's room is different. If you get bored of your set up, stay up till 2am rearranging it with friends. Covey is the best and the main hang out.
Academic Rigor Some tough classes but the teachers are great. Psych 201. And when you get an A on an assignment you feel like you can do anything.
