go to class, even if you think it's a waste of time - sometimes you'll hear something new, or get extra credit or answers to tests/homework. get to know your teachers. even if you're a shy or quiet person, say a few things to at least participate. teachers and classmates are generally warm and will try to involve you in the learning process, which can help make the experience so much better.

My biggest tip is to become involved and become a part of some student club, organization, housing unit or even work study program. If you live nearby, take some classes at DMACC as a student! You can finish your education sooner and ultimately spend less time and money. If you plan on moving on campus, spend a great deal of time researching different living opportunities. There are many apartments throughout the Ankeny and Des Moines area that are much cheaper than the student living near campus. I honestly can't recommend any of the facilities DMACC advertises.
