Don't be afraid to wander around the campus on your free time(and preferrably during daylight), not enough people do so.

Read MoreYou may want to be able to drive, otherwise living in the San Fernando Valley may be too boring. Make sure to do research on what classes you actually need for your degree, but also take breather classes during tough semesters so you don't overwhelm yourself. When I say it's very diverse, it's because I came from an Asian-dominant neighborhood, so it was quite a culture shock for a while. But besides that, check out the different clubs, whether it be a club for your major, or a club that you find interesting, so don't just overwhelm yourself with school.
