Always have an open mind. Be ready to learn in the classroom, from your peers, and from your experiences. Don't judge anything, whether it be an individual, a course, or a school. Learn from experience, not from sight. Be comfortable with and ready to change your position on topics. Be accepting. These are tips that will help you fit in to any college; however, it is essential at CSULB as we are a school that truly embraces diversity.

Long Beach is a really amazing area. So, my first advice to you for those looking towards this university is to check out the campus, which is HUGE. Also, don't be afraid to talk to the faculty. They're super friendly and are always willing to answer any questions you have and even willing to show you around the campus.

Work hard, play harder. College ain't all about the class. There's a lot of clubs here for you to make friends, friends who will hopefully be useful later on when you're looking to make moves for moving up in your industry or whatnot. Get friendly with your roommate, your classmate, your crush, whoever you can, really! Most diplomas are made from the same paper and have the same worth unless you're looking to work in neurosurgery / other highly specialized career. However, not all friends are made the same. Make good friends, make good moves, and move up!
