    Campus Safety

There have been some issues in regards to fights but that has been the most violent it has ever been. No worries, there have been no killings, shootings, or bomb scares and you can thank the heavy security team for that.

    Greek Life

Although there is no "Greek Life", there is definitely a "Poly Life" and if you are on the island and want to go to college, you will definitely experience the Poly one and most students like it!

    Clubs and Activities

From the LGBTQ X-Factorials who love to entertain to the Student Government Association who hosts various school functions, there is no dull moment when ASCC is celebrating a holiday or event i.e Halloween, Spring Break, Christmas, or Valentine's carnivals, club showdowns, dance battles, voice battles, etc.! The activities essentially engage every group and welcomes all!

Great for these types of students

Great for introverts and extroverts! ASCC is meant for anyone who wants to attend an affordable college either in isolation or with a bunch of friends because it does not really matter here if you are by yourself or are in a social circle.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Do not get irritated if you often see security guards leisurely driving around campus on student pathways, including hallways with their golf carts. They like to do that when the heat is overbearing which is, every day.

    Bang for the buck

If your family has low income and you were born on the island or in the U.S, you do not have to worry about paying for school. The registration fee and books will be paid back with financial aid! Just make sure that you are taking at least six or more credits if you want to have a higher check amount. As for scholarship offers, there is the ASG transfer scholarship for ASG recipients studying in ASCC, the Asian Pacific Islander General Scholarship that is often due in September, and the $500 Dorm Scholarship that comes once a year in the Fall. If you are an international student, there is work study available for you! Seek help from the Financial Aid Counselors.

    What to do for fun

When the SGA is not hosting any activities, students can head over to the gym and play a whole game of volleyball, the net included, while on the other section of the gym court would be for basketball games. Or, you can either play soccer on the field, lay on blankets with friends, pass around snacks, make jokes and blast music through speakers! All in all, there are a wide array of activities and sports you can do to enjoy the college experience.

    Food and Dining

There are no food trailers around the campus but there are dining areas ranging from the school cafeteria to two mini stores across campus, a mini diner across campus, a subs your way two blocks from campus and fast-food chains two to five miles away from the campus. As for dining spaces, there aren't that many dining/lounging spots with benches or seats for students.

    Dorm Life

Unfortunately, due to the really small length of the island and rare cases of nonSamoan residents, the staff feels that there is no need to have dorms. But if by dorm life you mean living with a parent(s) or guardian then there is never a dull moment living in your at-home dorm. Fun fact: there is a Dorm Scholarship that gives out $500 to a max of one or two people every Fall Semester.

    Academic Rigor

Almost every instructor will keep students on their toes! Some are lenient but not all the time. I personally like to challenge myself, so it has been a somewhat difficult past two semesters. Nonetheless, regardless of the instructor's leniency, expect to always be up on your toes and up all night if you are a procrastinator.

    Tips for prospective students

This is not the institution for students who would want to live in a dorm and be away from family. Another thing, USE YOUR ACT OR SAT SCORES! The Placement Test is the LAST thing to take if your ACT is below a 19 or your SAT is below a 950. Most students are not aware of this but hopefully, those reading this will be saved from unnecessary CAPP classes. The admission office will not ask for your ACT or SAT scores because they want the extra money. In other words, you are most welcome.

    In three sentences

As a small community college, ASCC is perfect for students who are not ready to be a thousand miles away from loved ones. Moreover, ASCC has that at-home feeling. Maybe because it is on the rock and my home is a couple of blocks away.

affordable. you only need to pay $50 for registration. anyhow, most students here are on financial aid which pays for all tuition and school fees so basically they have nothing to pay. but if you are a non-resident, you might have to pay for your classes but it's very cheap, compared to other schools.

    Dorm Life

no dorms. students live at their own homes.

    Academic Rigor

teachers are very good. they know their stuff. can be very lenient and understanding but can also be very strict and tough.

    Tips for prospective students

make sure you have a computer at home because there's gonna be a lot of typed work. if not, you can use the lab then. also make sure you have enough money for food and bus fare if you don't have a car. make sure you talk to one of the counselors for advice always and get tutoring if you need help.

    Dorm Life

Never experienced dorm life but my sister who is attending school off island does not like it especially when your roommate hates it when the light is on through out the night while she is studying.

    In three sentences

American Samoa Community College is the only College here in American Samoa and the only College that majority of the students who graduate from High School attends. American Samoa Community College is well equipped with facilities and faculties who are up to the standards of teaching College level. I would say I wish there were grants available for non-residents students plus offering online classes for classes that do not meet the enrollment number but overall I think that this is the best College and cheaper compared to offisland.

    Campus Safety

Safety is guaranteed in ASCC. Securities are strict and are pretty much on their feet (or carts) all over the campus every time.

    Clubs and Activities

There are many clubs but the most popular clubs are the dance clubs. School clubs always participates in school activities such as dance competitions, pageants, holiday events, etc.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is Miss ASCC pageant that goes on every 2 years. For Samoan classes, there is always some sort of school function that practices the cultural traditions which is very interesting. The Student Body also plans a lot of fun and great activities.

    What to do for fun

You can sit in an empty classroom and watch movies on a laptop with your friends, or visit the library and listen to your iPod or sleep. You can also make a small picnic area on the lawn or under the huts and catch up on sleep until your next class.

    Food and Dining

Great Food! There's breakfast and lunch and the best thing about it is that it's $4 a plate-lunch or breakfast.

    Dorm Life

    There's no dorm.

    Academic Rigor

With such a small classroom (max 25), it is very challenging and intense. Scholarships and opportunities are limited so everyone fights to be the best. Not just outside of class but in class too. Reputation is essential.

    Tips for prospective students

Make as much and as many friends because you're going to need them for such a small college. Be open-minded because culture is rich. And lastly, carry a water jug or DRINK LOTS OF WATER!

    In three sentences

The college is pretty laid back and has a great island feeling. You get as much interaction in this small college and you make long lasting friends and remember them the next semester. It is just like high school because of the small classes and active student body organization that makes everyone get to know everyone.
