YPIE's mission is to increase the number of Yonkers Public School students who complete a post-secondary program that prepares them for a successful career. YPIE partners with the Yonkers Public School District, business and philanthropic communities and higher education institutions and relies on detailed data to drive our decisions and programs. We believe that post-secondary success is key to meaningful and lasting improvements in the quality of life for our students and community. The YPIE Scholars Program begins in 9th grade. Our goal is that YPIE Scholars will graduate from a four-year college within 6 years of high school graduation. The program provides two major supports to Scholars: academic preparation and enrichment at the after school YPIE College Zone and life coaching from adult mentors. Beginning in 11th grade, the YPIE Fellows Program provides comprehensive college access and persistence services to approximately 600 students each year. Our goal is that each student graduate from college within 6 years of high school graduation.During high school students will work with a YPIE College Advisor on all parts of the application and financial aid process. Upon graduating from high school, each YPIE Fellow will be assigned a YPIE Persistence Coach to work with them as they enter and persist through college.
