Program Description

Our focus on academic excellence, paired with intentional student supports and interventions, regular homework, and advanced work, ensure that scholars of all levels are driven to grow and succeed. From their first steps into a USN school, students are exposed to colleges through themed homerooms and regular visits to local colleges and universities.

All USN schools are non-profit and do more than close the achievement gap for low income and high need students. They open their minds to learning - with discipline and mutual respect - and give students the life skills to gain entrance, gain success and gain a degree from the most demanding high schools and colleges. All of the schools in United Schools Network are proudly authorized by the Thomas B. Fordham Foundation.

8th grade students, in cooperation with the Deans of Family and Community Engagement, receive information about college-preparatory high schools, counseling and support in the application process, and encouragement to find the best-fit high school.

High school students receive regular face-to-face check-ins to provide counseling on high school success and graduation requirements, information on choosing a best-fit college, and support through the college application and financial aid process. Workshops and college visits are also held several times each year.

College-enrolled students receive counseling via virtual or face-to-face check-ins on a wide variety of issues, such as choosing a major, finances, internships, or networking & fitting in on campus. Alumni Services is currently developing programs to offer one-on-one college coaching and emergency micro-grants to improve college persistence and graduation rates.
