The SONYC program at M.S. 302 provides a mixed curriculum of academic, cultural enrichment, and recreation and healthy living activities for students in grades 6-8 during after school hours, holidays, and the summer. Children complete their homework and prepare for state and city-wide exams in our test prep classes. They express their artistic interest through elective stepping, dance, music and drama components. Other recreational activities include myriad sports activities such as basketball, soccer and volleyball. The program encourages youth leadership through service learning, peer mediation, and a youth leadership council. Students are taken on many trips throughout the year to educational institutions, public parks, museums, cultural institutions, Broadway plays, etc.
