OneGoal supports students who are underserved by existing school programs and whose college prospects are extremely limited by providing them with the daily support of an excellent teacher who is committed to ensuring that they make it to and through college. In doing so, we offer our OneGoal partners a unique complement to the work already being done by school college offices and guidance counselors.
We collaborate closely with high schools in low-income communities to identify teachers already working in their buildings and to create the conditions to ensure they can successfully teach OneGoal as a daily, credit-bearing class. We equip those teachers with a robust curriculum, training and coaching, and technology to guide a cohort of students (Fellows) to achieve their greatest postsecondary aspirations.
In Fellows' junior and senior years of high school, they work to define their personal visions of success, explore their identities, and uncover noncognitive skills and mindsets to enroll and persist in their chosen postsecondary pathways. During the third year, the OneGoal teacher leverages the trust they have built with Fellows to act as a virtual advisor, providing content and counseling to ensure they enroll in their second year of postsecondary education on-track to graduate.
