Program Description

The mission of Noonan Scholars is to prepare high achieving low-income first-generation students of color to thrive in and graduate from highly competitive colleges with the degree and skills needed for the career of their choosing and with little or no debt.

Our comprehensive approach begins with targeted outreach to highly motivated high school students throughout the Boston area. We then provide intensive academic preparation through our Summer Academy, guidance to pursue acceptance at highly selective universities, bridge scholarships for all four years of college, individual support, mentoring, internship opportunities, and career development assistance.

Modeled after South Central Scholars, a successful non-profit in Los Angeles, Noonan Scholars will begin with 50 high school students from the Boston area in the summer of 2016. Over the next few years, it aims to draw students from all of New England, eventually serving hundreds of new students each year, with over 1000 low-income students of color thriving in America's top colleges, in the workplace, and in their community.
