Program Description

Excel Leadership and Scholarship Program is a Christian ministry that holistically empowers future leaders for the city of Memphis through the provision of a college scholarship and relevant leadership training. SCHOLARSHIP The academic requirements are a 3.0 GPA and a minimum 18 ACT. The scholarship portion of the program is funded by the universities and is only a portion of the total financial aid package. The Excel scholarship is then added to all state, federal, and other outside scholarships/grants and work study. To retain the scholarship, students are required to remain active in the program and maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout their undergraduate studies, Applications are due January 2 and are available online at www.memphisleadershipfoundation.org or contact Tracy Anthony coordinator tracy@mlfonline.org or 725-3122. The 3 partner schools are Bethel University, Christian Brothers University and Union University.

Success Stories

This program is all about helping students who need that extra support to not only get into college but to finish with a degree. I want to share with you about one of those young people. Her name is Jessica Dominguez and she is a senior at CBU right now. She is undocumented and came here at the age of 8 which means she is unable to qualify for any government aid or grants including the Hope scholarship. That means she gets very little aid to go to school. This young lady has basically worked full time while going to school full time AND has kept one of our highest GPA???¢????????s. If I had a business I would hire her in a heartbeat because she has proven what a hard worker she can be! She will be the first in her family to finish college.
