Program Description

Latino U College Access is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring college opportunity and success for Latino youth who are first in their families to go to college. We work with students in Westchester County, NY. Community information session provide information in the Spanish language. Topics include: Pathway to College, Admissions 101, Paying for College, College Success Student workshops for juniors include: SAT/ACT Prep, College Essay Seminar, Application Boot Camp, and College Coach Program. Student workshops for seniors include: FAFSA and Application Boot Camp and College Success 101.

Success Stories

100% of coached students who are first in their family to go to college enroll in a college. Student in 2012 Cohort received a full scholarship to Bates College. Student in 2013 Cohort accepted to Cornell University's School of Architecture and recipient of Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Transfer scholarship.

Best Practices Library

Support students through financial aid award appeals process. Community information sessions so that parents can support their students and collaborate with school counselor. One-on-one coaching available for select number of juniors to start the college application process in the summer before their senior year. Financial Aid award letter comparison spreadsheet gives students and families a way to evaluate financial aid award offers.
