Upward Bound serves rising 9th- to 12th-grade students who are low-income and/or first-generation college students and who express a desire to pursue a postsecondary education. The academic year program provides: academic advising, tutoring, campus visits, financial aid workshops, parent workshops, ACT workshops, and career fairs. In the summer, the program sponsors a six-week residential summer institute that offers classes Monday-Thursday on the KU campus. In addition, Upward Bound offers a summer institute for graduating seniors to attend KU for four weeks and earn six college credit hours.
