Program Description

What is TRIO?

TRIO is a set of federally-funded college opportunity programs that motivate and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds in their pursuit of a college degree. Over 850,000 low-income, first-generation students and students with disabilities from sixth grade through college graduation are served by more than 2,800 programs nationally. TRIO programs provide academic advice, academic tutoring, mentoring, financial guidance, personal counseling, and other supports necessary for educational access and retention. TRIO programs provide direct support services for students, and relevant training for directors and staff.

Our Mission

The mission of TRIO Student Support Services is to promote learning, personal development, and retention for college students who are traditionally under-represented in, or under-prepared for, post-secondary education because of income, family educational background, or disability and facilitate their transfer process to a four-year institution.
