Genesys Works - Twin Cities provides high school students with the unique opportunity to participate in 150 hours of business technology and professional skills training in the summer after junior year. Through this training students acquire valuable computer technology skills. They also learn about how to succeed in the business world and practice essential "21st Century" skills like public speaking, professional communication and interview techniques.
Students who successfully complete training earn a year-long, paid internship as seniors. Genesys Works interns take classes at school in the morning and work 4 hours every afternoon with top employers like Medtronic, Ecolab, Target and Deluxe. Interns typically earn $9,000 during the internship and gain more than 1,000 hours of real-world experience in a professional work environment.
Genesys Works interns also receive one-on-one guidance as they research colleges, fill out college and scholarship applications, apply for financial aid and, eventually, enroll in a college degree program. 100% of Genesys Works interns have been admitted to college and 92% go on to enroll immediately after high school.
As Genesys Works interns, students are building a critical foundation of work experience and college preparation that sets them apart not only from their peers in high school, but from many of the college students graduating today.
