Expanded Horizons helps high school students negotiate the college admission process every step of the way. Test preparation, tutoring, and college counseling services are offered at the Youth Services Division headquarters (301 Henry Street), as well as a network of high schools including the Urban Assembly Academy for Government and Law, the Lower Manhattan Arts Academy, Bard High School Early College, and the Henry Street School for International Studies.
Henry Street Settlement opens doors of opportunity to enrich lives and enhance human progress for Lower East Side residents and other New Yorkers through social services, arts, and health care programs. Our neighborhood is home to a large proportion of Hispanic residents (30 percent), including Puerto Rican and Dominican immigrants, as well as Asian residents (24 percent) from China, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. Our community also includes a sizable African-American population; immigrants from Bangladesh and India; Russian and Ukrainian emigres; and Orthodox Jews, who first settled here in the late 19th century.
