Program Description

Emerging Scholars (ES) is an exciting, educational opportunity in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. ES was established in late 2002 by a consortium of seven independent schools serving the Washington, DC area. This group recognized that there are countless boys and girls in the metropolitan area who exhibit exceptional academic and leadership potential, but who lack the financial means to attend a school where they could fully develop their capabilities. ES was established to find such students, prepare them to succeed in independent schools, and help them earn admittance to, and scholarship support from, the appropriate school.

Emerging Scholars graduates display their certificates after completing 14 months of rigorous academic and leadership training. Graduates have been accepted into grade six at independent schools this fall where they will receive need-based financial aid.
